METHOD
1. First pre-heat the over to 160ºC. 2. Season the lamb shanks with salt and pepper. Then brown in a frying pan. 3. Once the shanks are browned, remove and set aside. 4. Return to the oven for an hour - this time with the lid off. 8. After the hour or when the meat is falling off the bone, remove from the oven. Put the shanks on a hot plate along with the veg. 9. Put the pan which now just has the rich sauce on the hob and reduce to the consistency you prefer. 10. Serve with mashed potato and the vegetables.

Garden & Home t last the summer months have arrived with June. Take the time to appreciate the fruits of your labour as most of the sowing, pricking out and potting on will have been done. Ornamental borders will soon be at their best and you should have heaps of early vegetables to harvest. If you feel like it get an early start and sow plants for your winter displays. You still have time to sow hardy annuals direct in to your borders for a late display in the year. You can continue to take softwood cuttings but do it early morning or late evening. Prune back spring flowering shrubs and cut back/ clean and dived spring flowering perennials. You can now cut back the foliage of spring bulbs and also divide them if they are over crowded. If you havenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t done so yet plant out summer bedding
into borders, containers and of course not forgetting the nations favourite - those hanging baskets! Make sure you harvest your vegetables as they mature, especially your salad crops. Plant out tender vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, courgettes to get good. Keep on sowing salad crops - by sowing small quantities at regular intervals of 2 to 3 weeks, you will ensure a continuous harvest. If possible you should now mow your lawn twice a week to get that immaculate finish - also give them a boost with a recommended fertiliser if the grass is looking a bit tired. With the strong sunshine you should shade and ventilate your greenhouses and water more frequently. Indoors plants water and feed regularly and give
