ST MARGARETS

S

t Margaret’s is an independent day preparatory school for boys and girls aged 3-11 based in Calne, Wiltshire.

The school has an ethos that is based on traditional values combined with an innovative approach, providing a happy environment for all children in a friendly, caring community. Within this context, it is hoped that boys and girls will learn the value of hard work and how to accept discipline and responsibility.

The St Margaret’s curriculum comprises an extensive range of activities, designed to promote not only learning, but also personal growth and development. It is based around the subjects of the National Curriculum which are delivered, in the main, by class teachers, all of whom are experts in the relevant ages. This is then enhanced by specialist tuition in Sport, Music, Latin, ICT and Modern Foreign Languages, as well as the extensive extracurricular programme, designed to enrich every child’s experience whilst at the school; this includes the ‘hidden curriculum’ – what the children learn from the way they are treated and how they are expected to behave.

Sport plays an important part at St Margaret’s and the school is fortunate to share a 25 acre site with St Mary’s, Calne. Consequently, the children benefit from a wide range of facilities not always available to preparatory school pupils. These include a 25m indoor swimming pool where all children from Kindergarten to Year 6 have weekly swimming lessons, in addition to being able to take advantage of the various swimming clubs. Every child enjoys up to five timetabled sessions of sport in school each week; these include swimming, PE and Games.

The Performing Arts have a high profile and there are Music and Drama opportunities at every age group. The children are encouraged to enter for external examinations, as well as competing in local festivals, in which their success rate is high. The school is especially proud of its award winning Chamber Choir. There is a comprehensive performance programme in place, which is enjoyed by both performers and spectators alike!

School hours are between 8.25 am and 3.30/4.30 pm each day. The school has its own After School Club which is staffed by three fully trained child carers and is available until 6pm, five days a week. This facility is also open for a number of weeks during the Easter and Summer holidays.

St Margaret’s is extremely proud of its pupils’ academic achievements. The children are thoroughly prepared for entrance examinations to senior schools and they enjoy an impressive record of success in academic and specialist subject scholarships, as well as consistently gaining entry to first-choice schools.

Good manners and consideration for the needs of others are expectations, but at the same time the children are inspired, not afraid to take risks and above all, have fun and enjoy learning!

rom ‘Save the Date cards’ through to ‘Thank You cards’, your Wedding Stationery is an important part of your wedding, it is probably the first thing that your guests will see.

There are many options open to you and they need not cost the earth. You can spend hours trawling through the many designs available or you can choose a bespoke design to compliment your own unique Wedding Plans. From single flat cards to die-cut cards with inner leaves and ribbon, traditional, modern or something completely different... the choice is yours. Choose a theme that you can continue from start to finish.

Save the date cards – announce your Wedding Date so family and friends can plan ahead, especially important if your Wedding falls on a weekday or during the holiday season. Have you considered a Save the Date Fridge Magnet?

Day Invitations – sent to guests that are invited to your ceremony and reception. These need to include date, time, venue and an address to reply to. Additional information can also be included, or a separate matching information sheet can be included with the invitations including directions, accommodation, menu choices etc..

Evening Invitations – sent out to guests that are invited to an Evening Reception, these can match the Day Invitations or an alternative smaller design can be used that compliments the theme.

Reply Cards – a pre-printed reply card encourages your guests to respond within the requested timeframe. You can choose postcards that are pre-printed with your address, to be completed and posted straight back. Alternatively you can choose a card and matching envelope.

We are happy to arrange or recommend a disco if you need us to assist you. We recommend that the disco is to be set up before your party arrives Our current music license allows us to play music until 11.00pm throughout the week and 11.30pm on Saturdays. The bar is licensed for the sale of alcohol until 11.00pm throughout the week out 12 midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Most Couples like to invite additional guests to celebrate with them in the evening with either a cold or hot buffet.

A late license may be available: A Temporary Events Notice (TENS) may be applied upon request.

This will mean to extend the licensing times. A TENS would be an additional cost. Approval is granted by the local authority and police. This may not necessarily be guaranteed. The fee is due on application and not refundable. Please liaise with Jo if this would maybe a requirement.
