Immersed in the landscape of the Northern Dales, I work to reflect the constant changes of light through cloud on landscape. Skies are endlessly fascinating , shifting by the second. Wild places demand that their essential atmosphere be captured, not merely the shapes of their structure. The fluid nature of watercolour is ideal for this purpose.
My architectural work is led by a long standing fascination with buildings. Towns and cities each have their own individual atmosphere dictated by the height and variety of their buildings as well as how they are used. The translucency of watercolour allows intricate overlapping shadows and reflections to be represented.

Short biography I was born in Felixstowe, Suffolk, in 1954 and brought up in Billingham, Teesside. I now live in Weardale, Co.Durham, with my wife, Val, who is also a painter. I have painted watercolours as a profession since 1980, specialising in landscape , seascape and architecture. Many of my works are in public and private collections in this country and abroad. My work, especially my new paintings, can be seen on my web site and at Mouncey Fine Art, Barnard Castle, Co.Durham, as well as several other galleries in the North of England.
Commission Work I am very happy to paint watercolours on request, making it possible for individuals to choose a subject which means a lot to them or the person they are giving it to.
Commission Prices All prices include the finished mounted and framed watercolour painting and two unframed, unmounted original sepia sketches which I will produce shortly after a commission is placed to confirm the angle for the subject. The prices below apply to subjects within the North East and North West of England .
