The dirty white building that houses the O’Connor Church Goods store on El Cajon Boulevard once held offices of Convair engineers working on development of the Atlas rocket in the 1950s. Although the building is showing its age, a transformation will take place on the block as early as next year after a multi-million dollar renovation and rebranding is completed. Grasshopper Development is planning to invest $9 million into the conversion of the site into a community of artists, architects, entrepreneurs artisan makers and other kinds of businesses in co-working spaces.
