Thirty-five years ago it was a pancake breakfast in Normal Heights put on by a small town business association. Who would have thought it would become one of the best musical entertainment spectacles of Southern California. This year’s fest on Sept. 24-25 will feature 90 musical acts performing on seven stages the entire weekend. Read Manny Lopez’s account on PAGE 10

Big Changes at Stehly Farms Market Things are really changing at Stehly Farms Market. The kitchen menu has been upgraded so now there is a lot of new dining and drinking options offered. The Market received a license to sell beer and wine on July 1. PG. 22

Percussionist and native San Diegan Tommy Aros was among the first musicians to ever perform at the Adams Avenue Street Fair back in 1986, the first year music became part of the festival.

This year’s boulevard bash will showcase a reunion by longtime San Diego-based cowpunk band The Beat Farmers, along with special guest Dave Alvin of the Blasters (above).
