A MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL

In view of our diverse membership base, which represents more than 40 nationalities, this year we will begin celebrating the national days of numerous countries around the world (not just those of Singapore and Switzerland). We hope that this will further strengthen the spirit of inclusiveness that has always made the Club a welcoming ‘second home’ for everyone, wherever they hail from.
Dear Members,
I always take great pleasure in extending ‘double wishes’ for happiness at this very festive time of the year. And so I wish you and yours both a Happy New Year and a Happy Chinese New Year. As we usher in the Year of the Ox, let us bid goodbye (and dare I say good riddance) to 2020. For those of you who are still enjoying the ‘winter holidays’, I hope that you have found meaningful ways to spend time away from work duties and studies.
Necessity is the mother of invention, as the saying goes. This pandemic has forced almost everyone to think laterally in order to circumnavigate the obstacles that have been imposed on us, and our close-knit team at the Swiss Club is no exception. After intensive brainstorming, my colleagues and I are pleased to offer you a diverse array of new activities, from farm tours and art workshops to social quiz nights and much, much more. We are intent on starting the new year with a bang, and hope that you will join us!

Amid all this talk of ‘new norms’, there is much comfort to be found in the familiar. Rest assured that our regular annual events remain on the calendar. We will continue to celebrate Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day, subject to the prevailing restrictions.
If anything, recent events have renewed the importance of good food. The Swiss Club has always enjoyed a great reputation for its culinary offerings, and that will never change. It is my pleasure to introduce our new Chef de Cuisine Razy, who has already applied his signature style to our F&B specials, outlined in this issue of ‘Relax’. Come sample his creations – and do save space for one of the new desserts, confectionery or bakery items devised by our new pastry chef Steven.
In closing, I sincerely thank you and all of our valued Members for your continued support throughout 2020 and into 2021. We will do our utmost to reward your loyalty and your faith in the Club. I would also like to thank my team for going the extra mile and taking on extra duties without a murmur of complaint, to make sure the Club runs as per ‘normal’.
See you at the Club – masks and all!
Best regards, A. Lim
