Christ Episcopal School
Dear Parents, Grandparents, Alumni, and Friends of Christ Episcopal School,
As we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the founding of our school, we also have an opportunity and an obligation to reflect upon the vision and generosity of those first Christ Episcopal families. Their initial investment was somewhat risky. Not all members of Christ Church were convinced of the need for a school such as ours. But those founders created a special place that they nurtured and supported and which grew into the Christ Episcopal School of today - one that is larger and different, but one that still upholds those founding principles. Giving is at the heart of Christ Episcopal School’s success. We have continued to grow because our founders offered a sustained vision for the school, and we are flourishing because teachers offer the best of their talents and skills to our students. Christ Episcopal School is effective because students and families have given their trust and energy toward our program, and we continue to grow because of the generous benefactors who understand and support the work we do, the care that we provide, and the importance of our mission. With your assistance, we seek to ensure that this work continues to extend outward and forward, reaching even more families. We are each invited to respond to the generosity of others with generosity of our own. My hope is that this school continues to be blessed by those who give their time, their skills, their hard work, and their financial resources, in order to make a profound difference in the lives of our students. What Christ Episcopal School gives this community, through your generosity, is priceless to those who receive it. Sincerely,
John Morvant Headmaster

From the Advancement Office:
Our school’s Annual Report is a yearly exercise for the Advancement Office. We examine the previous year’s records closely to ensure that this publication includes a list of all Annual Fund and Capital Campaign gifts, and a proper accounting of the results of our fundraising efforts. During that process, everyone in the office is reminded of the thoughtful contributions and continued support of our community. This report is a testament to the dedication of myriad volunteers who work so tirelessly to make Christ Episcopal School such a success. It is also a means to thank our donors, whose generosity represents an investment in the future of our school. The impact of our community’s support cannot be overstated. Donations of all sizes and forms help Christ Episcopal School attract and develop an outstanding faculty, offer the most innovative courses, enhance every aspect of our educational program, and maintain the day-to-day operations of our school. Our students and faculty are the direct beneficiaries of every gift, so thank you! Sincerely, Jerry Henson Director of Advancement

Christ Episcopa l Sc hool’ ’s Athletic Booster Club
The Athletic Booster Club’s primary goal is to enrich the experience of our student athletes by providing financial support for CES’s athletic programs. It also recognizes that participation in athletics benefits everyone by promoting opportunities to build and strengthen relationships among all involved: the student body, coaching and teaching staff, parents, and the community. The Booster Club will support the school in all of its fundraising efforts, to enable the school to maintain its commitment to our student athletes and meet the objectives of the master plan: to construct outstanding athletic facilities, to retain current students and attract new students, and to continue to engage the community in the strategic growth and development of our campus. The Booster Club aims to develop athletic facilities and programs that match the caliber of the academic opportunities available at CES. Our outstanding PE teachers and coaches deserve facilities that are representative of their commitment to our students and that will best enable them to succeed. There are three fundraisers planned for the upcoming school year, so please plan to support the Booster Club and CES athletics by getting involved in the golf tournament, 5K run, and tennis tournament. Players, runners, sponsors, donors, and volunteers are always welcome! If you are interested in participating in the Booster Club in any capacity, please contact Jane Slatten (janeslatten@gmail.com), this year’s President, or Athletic Director Greg Carnovale (gcarnovale@christepiscopalschool.org).
Thank you for your ongoing and enthusiastic support of the CES Wildcats!

Fine Arts
at Christ Episcopa l Sc hool The Fine Arts have been an essential part of the human experience since the beginning of time. Every civilization has been measured by its contribution to the arts. If the arts are an inseparable part of our culture, then they are rightfully an inseparable part of Christ Episcopal School’s curriculum. By developing intuition, reasoning, and imagination, the arts cultivate unique forms of communication. Fine Arts education helps students to increase their perception and helps them understand and interpret the world around them more clearly. The arts educate and engage the audience as well as the participants. Students learn to cope with ambiguity and subjectivity because in the arts, as in the world, there is often no single right answer. Students use both their verbal and nonverbal ability when they imagine, create, and reflect. They also develop problem-solving and higher-order thinking skills. Most important, the arts are worth learning for their own sake. The messages and meanings that the arts embody are not available through any other means. Some of the greatest human achievements are represented by the arts.
Fine Arts Learning Goals:
• Intellectual curiosity • Critical reasoning, • • • • Aiyana Thomas
14
problem solving, and independent thinking Effective communication and strong interpersonal skills Broad-based knowledge Strong spiritual and moral character that strives to imitate Christ Lifelong learning
Catherine Zelenka
During the 2013-2014 school year, Fine Arts at Christ Episcopal School included the Visual Arts, Music, Choir, and Dra ma progra ms.
Art is taught in Pre-K through Junior High, and is also incorporated into the weekly curriculum. High School students are required to have one year of Fine Arts. They may choose Fine Arts Survey, which provides an introductory knowledge of dance, drama, music, and visual arts, or one of three levels of Art Studio.
Music
The program provides an important experience for Pre-K through Junior High students, and is integrated throughout the year with world history, art, drama, dance, and creative writing. Music also provides students with the opportunity to participate in the regularly scheduled on-site worship services.
Choir
Students in first through eighth grades participate in the program, which is an extracurricular activity. The CES choir performs at many school and community events, and provides strong support to the Drama program.
Drama is an extracurricular activity offered to all sixth through twelfth graders. Each year, several plays or musicals are produced by an all-student cast. Theater allows students to develop life skills such as confidence, poise, communication, and teamwork.

Annual Fund 2013-2014 “Celebrate Each Student”
The Annual Fund is an essential component of our annual operating budget. The funds raised each year allow CES to better support innovations in teaching, low student/teacher ratios, upgrades to technology, maintenance of our expanding facility, our service learning projects, and to continue to develop a program aligned with our mission and learning goals. In 2013-2014, the total Annual Fund dollars raised equals $130,833. We have been blessed with a continued base of committed donors and are extremely grateful to everyone who participated! Growing with Grace
Your generosity makes it possible. Annual Fund 2014-2015 Thank you for your continued support of Christ Episcopal School. The 2014-2015 Annual Fund campaign runs through June 30, 2015. We have tried in every way to make sure this report is correct and to give appropriate credit to our generous donors. So many people have given anonymously and selflessly throughout the year that in some cases an oversight may have occurred. If we have made an error, we sincerely apologize. Please bring it to our attention by calling Jerry Henson at 985.871.9902 ext. 277.
