“The city, however, does not tell its past, but contains it like the lines of a hand, written in the corners of the streets, the gratings of the windows, the banisters of the steps, the antennae of the lightning rods, the poles of the flags, every segment marked in turn with scratches, indentations, scrolls.” Italo Calvino / “Invisible Cities”

comprehensive design studio Wilderness Urbanisms - “Refuge”/ Spring 2016 Wilderness Urbanisms is a comprehensive and experimental design studio focusing on creating architecture from narrative. Moving through the scale of the city, house and the detail, concept and narrative intertwined in the forms of drawings, digital and hand fabricated models, and animation. Pulling from the idea of memory as a refuge, this studio was a physical and digital exploration of the space created between the tangible and the intangible.

City-scale site model, complied by hand, laser cut, and 3D printed elements

Conceptual narrative storyboard sketches

“X-Ray site plan/section. Overlays of 3D model, 2D drawing, and physical model to create multiple layers of narration and information.

Hand sketches and 3D vignette renderings of the refuge.

ABOVE: The refuge sits perched on a hill, connected by a bridge over the valley to the city. A preocessional staircase leads to a hall of portals, each framing and housing memories of the city from the user. A second staircase leads further up to the oculus, where memory is experienced in a controlled environment.

BELOW: Grasshopper definitions for the arrangement and size of window portals , derived from a light to dark gradient.

core two studio Junk Space - Spring 2016 Combining two creative hands-on trades, and a public circulation path connection major regions of Boston, this project placed an innovative hub in a the historic district of Fenway. Using the “junk space of overflow parking, an elevated corridor connects Brookline to Fenway, also serving as a public and private connection between the primary program spaces of a craft school and culinary school. A transluscent skin covers the structure, creating intrigue for passerbys as well as privacy for isolated program.

construction details / documents Elkus Manfredi Architects / 2012 Working closely with a project manager, I drafted construction documents of a interior office lobby renovation. Drawings covered multiple plans, sections, and interior elevations. Along with construction plans and elevations, I worked on detailing for various parts of construction including a custom fabricated wood panel wall, as well as the millwork details for a custom-built security desk.

renderings Placetailor / Spring 2016 Sketch-style renderings for Placetailor projects. Involved the process of photographing on-site, exporting models out of Revit, then working in Photoshop and Illustrator to sketch in color schemes and textures.

graphics / marketing Placetailor / Spring 2016 Graphics and marketing strategies based on research of client base and demographics, along with developing company graphic standards. Large emphasis on readability, as well as basing messages on the feature/benefit marketing strategy. Infographs and catchphrases were implemented for easy reading and maximum impact when being viewed on a website or during a digital presentation.
