The Board and I are committed to developing the hotels and all five sites have recently had extensive upgrade programmes which will continue through 2018. There’s a wide variety of activities on offer covering everything you could possibly want: Arts & Crafts, Coach Holidays, Gardens, History & Heritage, Music & Dancing, Singles Breaks, Spiritual Breaks, and Walking Holidays. There are also fantastic Family Breaks during the school holidays (p. 5), and a range of Celebration Breaks for Easter, Christmas and New Year (p. 6–7).

Stay as you Please gives you the flexibility to do whatever you want, but with the benefit of having knowledgeable staff on hand to help you plan your stay.

If you have a hobby or want to try a new experience, then our Speciality Breaks are renowned for offering a fantastic holiday.

You can choose what you do on a Speciality Break too. So if you decide to visit a local tourist attraction during your stay, that’s up to you — you’re not obliged to take part in every activity because it’s all about you doing what you enjoy when you take a well-earned break.

Package Prices

If you decide to try a Speciality Break, then you’ll get a much better deal if you opt for our package price. Booking your accommodation and activities together is cheaper than booking separately and it means all the costs of excursions, tuition, and even, in some cases, packed lunches are paid for in advance of your holiday. The brochure package prices are for standard en-suite accommodation; just contact the hotels if you would like an alternative accommodation option.

ituated on the southern edge of the Lake District, overlooking the expanse of Morecambe Bay, Abbot Hall Hotel is a charming country hotel with a relaxed environment. It is believed that the monks of Furness Abbey bought the land and built the first Abbot Hall in or around 1160. The present mansion, nestling in the hamlet of Kents Bank, was built in 1840 and now boasts a wide range of facilities, including a 15m heated indoor swimming pool and a children’s adventure area. For those relaxing at the hotel, there are well-appointed lounges. Diners are offered a delicious choice of home-cooked dishes, with locally-sourced produce where possible. There are also five self-catering pine lodges in the grounds – so there really is something for everyone.

Leader: Alison Drake This studio-based watercolour course is suitable for both beginners and experienced painters alike, with an emphasis on learning about the magical art of watercolour techniques. Rachel is a highly accomplished pastry chef with over 20 years in the catering industry, including the prestigious Savoy Grill in London, White's Gentlemen's Club and the Queen Elizabeth II cruise liner. Since then Rachel has headed up the pastry section of a prestigious four star establishment in Devon. Rachel has continued to develop her skills in floral sugar craft, by attending numerous further training courses.

Nicole is also a trained pastry chef, originally from South Africa, where she was trained to a high standard in cake icing and floral art. Nicole left South Africa as a Chef de Partie in 2005 and has since worked in four star establishments in the UK. Nicole has also been developing her sugar craft and gained a Silver Medal in Floral Sugarcraft at the International Cake Competition.

Friends of Sidholme Music Room

In 2013 a group of local volunteers came together to raise money to restore Sidholme’s 1855 Gray & Davison Organ, originally commissioned by the 6th Earl of Buckinghamshire. Following their success the committee have undertaken remedial work on the 1905 model B Bechstein grand piano, allowing the organ and piano to once again be played in tandem. The group is now focusing on the seven Osler glass chandeliers, and we are pleased to announce the first phase of restoration of the main chandelier commenced in July 2017. We hope to see it fully restored and back in place before the start of 2018. Christian Guild Terms & Conditions Hotel Booking Conditions a) Terms are per person per night, inclusive of VAT. b) Half board includes dinner, bed and breakfast from evening meal on day of arrival to breakfast on day of departure. No allowance can be made for meals not taken. c) Special diets or other requirements will, whenever possible, be catered for if Managers are informed when booking. d) No single room supplement is charged. However, the number of single rooms is limited and we reserve the right to restrict the number of double or twin rooms allowed for single occupancy. e) Guests unable to vacate the premises by themselves, in case of emergency, must be accompanied by friends or relatives. f) Car parking is entirely at the owner’s risk. g) Dogs or other pets cannot be taken in the hotels, with the exception of registered assistance dogs for people with disabilities. h) We ask our customers not to bring or consume their own alcoholic drinks on the premises. i) Bookings should be made with the hotel of your choice. A non-refundable deposit of £50.00 per adult (£10 per child 5 years and over) per week or part thereof, is due with each booking, payments accepted by cheque, credit/ debit card. Full payment is due one calendar month prior to the commencement of your stay. j) Bookings generally can only be accepted for a type of room, eg. Superior, En-suite or Non en-suite. Specific room requests will be considered, however this will be subject to availability and Hotel Management agreement. Acceptance of a booking with specific room request will incur a fee of £15 per room per week. (Not applicable to disability friendly bedrooms).

k) VAT at 20% is included in the terms shown but will be charged at any changed rate applicable at the time of payment for the holiday. l) We reserve the right to alter our published Terms in extreme circumstances including changes in taxation. m) If in exceptional circumstances, we find that we are unable to offer the accommodation booked, a full refund will be given unless alternative accommodation is agreed. n) If we have to make a significant change or cancel a themed break we will tell you as soon as possible. You will be offered an alternative holiday or receive a full refund. Where our liability is limited we will not pay any expenses, costs or losses you may incur as a result of any change or cancellation. No compensation is payable for minor changes or where we cancel or make a significant change before the date of the balance of your holiday costs falls due. Minor changes do not entitle you to cancel or change to another holiday without paying our normal charges. o) The company reserves the right to charge guests for all damage to hotel property. p) Unless otherwise stated, quoted Package Prices are for standard en-suite accommodation. Bookings All bookings should be made direct to the hotel of your choice. Insurance When you book a holiday you are entering into a legally binding contract, which, if cancelled or curtailed, will incur a cancellation charge. The company does not offer any form of holiday insurance or cancellation cover. As a Christian organisation we feel it important, and would strongly recommend, that all guests comprehensively insure their holiday against all eventualities with an insurer of their choice. Guests from outside the UK must be covered by adequate insurance covering cancellation, sickness, accident or other misfortune. Cancellation Should you, or any member of your party, be forced to cancel your booking for any reason you should notify the manager of the hotel concerned in writing at the earliest opportunity, enclosing any relevant and supporting documentation. A cancellation will take effect from the date written notice is received by the company. Cancellations will incur the following charges: • One calendar month or more before arrival: Deposit only. • Less than one calendar month before arrival: ⅔ of holiday cost. • Less than 48 hours before arrival: Full cost of holiday (no refund). Deposits are non-refundable. All refund amounts detailed above will be calculated after deduction of the deposit paid. If the reason for cancellation is covered under the terms of your holiday insurance policy you may be able to reclaim these charges.
