THE FATHER’S LOVE
T
his summer edition of our newsletter extends until September, and so we have included as much information as we can to keep you aware of what is happening in the life of CLC during July and August. I am keen to encourage you to continue to pursue all that God has been saying to us over these recent months. Since Easter we have set our hearts on a fresh encounter with God the Holy Spirit, which has led us to a renewed emphasis on God as our Father and the amazing privilege of being His children. Knowing God as Father is a continually unfolding revelation that will awaken a wonderful new understanding of ourselves and the acceptance we have in Him. This summer I encourage you to live and pray this simple prayer: Father, show me who you really are and therefore, who I really am as a result.
I have discovered a growing confidence in my relationship with God as I have accepted the truth that I am His son and an heir of His Kingdom. I want to recommend three books that you may want to buy for your summer holiday reading. They are helping me and I’m sure will inspire you too. I am your Father, by Mark Stibbe Sons and Daughters, by Brady Boyd Spiritual Slavery to Spiritual Sonship, by Jack Frost All of these books are available on Amazon.co.uk. I pray that this summer you will be refreshed and renewed by the Father’s love and acceptance, and that you will awaken to the sonship that is yours.

Following our special Christmas offerings towards the work of Townsend Gardens,we have recently been contacted by Naomi McGilvery (representative of Bromford Support / Townsend Gardens Project) to inform us that our ARK Food Bank has been chosen as the focus of their charities volunteer fund-raising day. Members of their team spent a day in the Tesco store at Spring Hill, bag packing and sharing with members of the public about the work of the ARK Project. As a result of this initiative, Naomi along with a colleague delivered several cars filled with donated produce, along with £563 in cash that was collected on the day. Our food and clothing bank relies on generous donations of non-perishable foods and clothing in order to enable our project to be a blessing to those in our community in crisis.
There are various items that are especially welcome at the moment. These are: Ÿ Sugar Ÿ Tinned meat or fish Ÿ Steamed puddings Ÿ Toiletries Ÿ Long life Milk Ÿ Tinned potatoes or veg
You can leave them in the ARK bin in the foyer, or drop them off to our offices Mon-Fri during office hours.
Please take a look at the recently updated information on the Missions Board. Also, be aware that we regularly insert new literature into the dispensers in the foyer which include updates and prayer requests from the Missions groups that we support. There is currently information from Davy and Esther Allen who are new leaders of the Elim Project in Cambodia.
CLC UNITED Saturday 13th July 1pm @ Selly Park Pastor Emmanuel is looking to build a football team for the day. Anyone aged 18 or over who would like to be involved please see Shaun Griffiths.
INTERNATIONAL SUNDAY Sunday 14th July International Sunday has become an annual celebration of the many nations that are represented here at CLC. We look forward to another day of contributions in song, testimony and dance, and an array of traditional and colourful dress. Our evening service will also give us the opportunity to share in some customary cuisine from near and far. If you would like to contribute some finger food for the evening, please speak to Odeline Carreon or Moji Balogun.
INTERNATIONAL BBQ Saturday 31st August @ 2pm Our International congregation have scheduled a date to host a CLC BBQ to be held at the BMS on Weoley Park Road. The afternoon will be lots of fun and a time to meet new people. Everyone is invited! The event will be dependent upon dry weather.
CHILDREN’S WORK During the summer we like to be able to give our regular hard working teachers a bit of a break. With that in mind, I would like to ask if anyone would be willing to give up one or two Sunday services to help out in this vital and exciting ministry? You can be involved as little or as much as you want, from leading the session to helping with drinks and crafts. The sessions will be very informal with crafts, games and stories. If we are unable to find
sufficient help, we may not be able to run the programme. Please contact me for details. Thank you. Sue Nicholls 07875 582 780 sue@christianlifecentre.com
