Modelling Guru

#Hello Zviko, so it’s part of our culture as Zim Influencers Magazine to start with this popular request, can you please tell us a little bit about yourself and the daily principles that define you? I just want to start off by saying it’s such a pleasure being this month’s feature. Zviko Motsi is a 22 year old Fashion/fitness model , Stylist and aspiring radio/tv personality. I love working out , that’s literally how i start my day . I’m very big on Family , there’s nothing that i cherish more than family , especially my mother .That’s pretty much all there is to me. # Zviko your modelling career has left no stone unturned in the Zimbabwean Industry, what really inspired you to venture into modelling? T o be honest, modelling was never really something i saw myself doing . I remember this one day at school where i was hosting an event and i decided to wear formal , i got a few compliments and one person suggested that i should take up modelling cause i looked the part, so it was then really that the idea was planted in my mind and soon as i was done with school i gave it a try, one thing les to another and here we are. # Zviko your body is ‘goals’ to many young men out there, what’s your secret? T hank you so much . It’s no secret really , just dedication and hardwork , i work out 5 times a week for atleast an hour , i wake up at 4 am without fail just to workout before work , couple that strict regimen with a good diet and voila! , you’ve got something to be proud of . In short, commitment and hardwork are the stuff gods. # Zviko you’re stuck on everyone’s lips when it comes to fashion, body and modelling and I overhead others saying you’re most girls’ crush, does that affect your personal life in terms of relationships and commitment? I t doesn’t really affect my personal life to be honest . After a certain point i understood what really matters and at the end of the day, a man who stands for something won’t just fall for anything , i’ve got a beautiful woman , who is really God’s gift , she is very understanding , patient and very cognizant of the fact that she’s actually the one with me in the moment and that’s all that matters. # Zviko what really inspires your fashion sense and who do you look up to in the global fashion industry? M odels in this day and age are really just gifted to have tools like instagram and pinterest at their disposal to be honest , i’m glad to be one of those beneficiaries. I can spend hours on end on instagram looking at fashion pages and just emulating some of the styles i come across .I am really inspired by a British Model called Rowan Row, that’s where i get most of my fashion sense . # Well, what’s your favorite color and what’s your favorite TV Show? I ’m very complicated when it comes to colors , my favorite color is black but i don’t like wearing black clothes cause they make me look slender, i usually go for blue . When it comes to my favorite show , i’m torn between trevor noah’s daily show and hasan minhaj’s patriot Act but if i really had to just pick one , i think i would go with the Daily show # So, we are in the middle of appreciating our moms, what 2 things have you learnt from your mom and you cherish so much? T here a lot to pick from, i was raised by women so i really was nurtured into a gentleman. If i had to pick two things that i rubbed off off my mother , i would say , tremendous respect for women and being a God fearing man cause she once told me “a man who can kneel before God can stand before anyone “, it’s the reason why i have a prayer with her named tattooed on my chest. 39

Tanaka Marimbe who is well known as DJ Tannieswiss is a phenomenal young gent who has defied all odds in the music industry. He has surpassed people’s expectations and is working hard day and night to remain the best. Tanaka who is only 27 years old has managed to establish himself in a fabulous way adored by many as long as his career is concerned. This talented young man is not only an all-night long DJ, he is also a Graphic Designer whose experience is beyond doubt. In an exclusive interview, Tanaka admitted that its all as a result of hard work and he urges other young people to do the same. Tanaka is a mainstream house DJ. What makes his sound unique is his ability to incorporate a house vibe with all the other genres at the same time. He is very much invested in the trendy Amapiano genre as well. Some of his mixes has given his brand a lot of recognition internationally and has been aired in countries like South Africa and in the UK. In describing his journey and inspiration in the Music and Arts industry Tanaka had this to say, “I grew up loving music. I mean it goes as far as the times of Walkman’s and portable cd players. I used to have collections of mixtapes I recorded off radio shows and concert replays. When I was 18, I got discovered by a DJ called Mfalmeh who was at one of the parties I was djying at. After observing me for a while he came up to me and he was like, “you know your music, come and let me show you the ropes”, and that’s when things blew up for me. He invited me to watch him and he was kind enough to introduce me to his crew, popularly known as “THE MOVEMENT’. There was something about the way they played that confirmed my love for music. From there I started getting a few gigs here and there. I worked on my skills and I was being mentored under the best. When I went to university in Australia my whole perspective of djing completely changed. I was scouted by a very popular DJ in Perth who goes by the name DJ Gabbs. He gave me quite a number of gigs and my audience was loving it beyond any doubt. Upon Coming back to Zimbabwe, I met Reverb 7, RayDizz, Tbass , Selekta Base & RAX now these people really pushed me to the limits in terms of perfecting my performances, branding and marketing myself. And Here we are.” djtannieswiss

Interview with DJ TannieSwiss # Tanaka for those that are really curious, what really inspired your stage name? I get this question quiet a lot. Well TANNIE – is just a shortened version of Tanaka and SWISS comes in as the metaphoric word that that explain my design style ( Classy ). # So, there are people with an organic talent and then there are people who work really hard to learn new things, which one are you when it comes to your career? I can honestly say I’m a bit of both because naturally music has been in me from the beginning but for me to get where I am was a combination of blood, sweat and tears. I had to learn the industry the easy way and the hard way all the same time. I mean there are times when I played for waiters and chairs and I had to go to the drawing board to reset and start all over. But with each failure that came, a new skill was learnt, advice was given, the craft was perfected! # Well, putting music aside, you have a great sense in fashion…what’s your secret and does appearance really matter in your area of expertise? Behind each and every artist there is a group of people who put in work for your image to be topnotch. For me I have brands like PAZ N CHIVS , Nehanda & Co who dress me for my big gigs. They do everything from Clothing to accessories. In this industry, appearance is everything. Each event should have a different outfit which compliments the theme. I mean sometimes I perform wearing overalls and kicks (something unique and most likely to not be worn by someone else in the club haha) + plus its mainly for the GRAM. # Tanaka, can you shade more light on how far your influence has gone. Who else have you shared the stage with apart from Zimbabweans? I have a wide range of audience both locally and on the internal platform. With my mixes on most of the major stream sites ranging from Apple music, Spotify, Tidal you name it. I have managed to gain a variety of international followers too.I mean I have had celebrities like Sbahle Mpisane Posting about my mixes. I have shared the same stage with Dj Dawee (GERMAN) , Bucie, Prince Kaybee , Cassper Nyovest (SOUTH AFRICAN) & Shash . Yet to share the stage with Black Motion. # So, we are in the middle of appreciating our moms, what 2 things have you learnt from your mom and you cherish so much? God First

Hard work always pays off # Tanaka can you please share with us some of the achievements you have done so far? Ok I haven’t really achieved a lot (as much as I want to) but here goes (Starting with the most recent): I am averaging about 3k streams per mix on the major stream sites with one of my AMAPIANO APPRECIATION VOL.3 hitting 11.1K streams on Soundcloud. The mix was then Featured on South Africa’s booming radio station VOW last week Wednesday. I also performed with these DJs at the respective places: Pariah State Borrowdale ft Djembe Monks 2015, Victoria Falls Party Bus 2019 with Dj King Her, Resident Dj with #The Movement (Current), Resident Dj at Evitro ( Current ), Resident Dj at Star Fm ( Thursday Slot with Dj Mox ) Current ( Mixes being sponsored by Astra Paints & Plascon ) (Current), RSVP To Events Evolution ( Cassper Nyovest & Prince Kaybee show 2018 ), Club 1+1 2016- 2017, The Establishment Halloween party 2016 ( hosted by The Circuit Party ), Golden Pilsener Afro Fusion Concert 2016, Resident Dj at Newscafe Borrowdale 2015-2016, Club Ora Opening night 2016, HIFM (Harare International Food & Music Festival ) – Dj Battle 2016 finalist vs Dj Dawee ( Germany ) I later on went ahead to win the dj battle aganist Dj Dawee (Germay) hosted by #The Circuit Party, The

Hidden Bar (Australia) 2014. # What is the typical process of preparing for a gig physically and mentally? A lot of people think that DJs just collect music and they go play the music in their library all night. It’s not the case if I may say. There is a whole process that goes into preparing for a gig. My motto is always, ‘Practice practice and practice some more’. When you are behind the decks there is no trying new things, analyze all the tracks and make sure they are the correct length and they actually play. Make a playlist which goes with the theme of the concert or night. Always have a back-up playlist and practice your set transitions. The mental part, for me, is basically making sure I’m at the venue an hour or so before my set and analyze the type of crowd and the general vibe of the place. With that information I can be able to determine the playlist I will use for the night. 42

Everyday I wake up, look in my mirror and remind myself these important life quotes “That which does not kill us makes us stronger” by Friedrich Nietzsche and ‘’You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it’’ by Maya Angelou. Defeat may make you weak but Getting back up strengthens you. I neutralize the negative but release most things positively.
