PROJECT 2 CREATIVE INTERPRETATION OF DATA/TEXT

1 INTRODUCTION

INTRODUCTION

INTRODUCTION 2

Drinking and driving is referred to as driving under the influence or driving while intoxicated, and involves operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content level of at least 0.08 percent. However, even a small amount of alcohol can lead to harmful situations. Millions of people worldwide do it. Many say “What’s the harm, I got home safely and no one was hurt?” Just because you made it home safely to your bed does not driving away after drinking you are not only putting those keys in the ignition and driving away after drinking you are not only putting your life at risk but you are risking the lives of all those you come across while driving. Alcohol affects you in a way that changes your judgement, depth perception as well as vital motor skills required to drive safely. Its easy to think you are driving normally when truly you are not. When you get into an accident your life could be lost as well as any others who too are involved in this accident. In Canada, on average, approximately 3 people are killed each day in crashes involving alcohol. According to 2009 drunk driving statistics there were 10,839 traffic fatalities in alcohol-impaired-driving crashes. From the research, I shocked at those data of drunk driving. Is drinking and driving more important than your legal status or life? Take a cab, protect yourself as well as others on the roadways, don’t become another drinking and driving alcohol or other intoxicants into the mix is putting your life and the lives of others on the roadways at risk. I want to go through the poster to deliver the massage to people to make right choice and put their key down.

BRAINSTORM 4

BRAINSTORM After the research, I think about how to make new poster vision to people. Because of in many public place we can see the many drink and drive poster, we have a stereotype about it. Firstly, I list the elements are car, glass bottle, wine bottle and key. Also, I list the key words and some slogan to represent it. The words are blood, hurt, crash, harm, fire, tear, dead, drink, drive, happy, sad and cheers. I think two sentences, one is “Don’t let cheers turn to tears” and another one is “Never drink and drive”. For sentences, the “Never drink and drive”that is too ordinary, but the “Don’t let cheers turn to tears” that is good to represent the theme and relatively new.

5 ROUGH

ROUGH According to I list elements and key words. I drew some rough. First rough, I was drew two glass-bottles bump together that is present people are cheers. There was a car in the middle of the two bottles. At the same time, both the car and the bottles are broken, and the debris is everywhere, which is represent how much damage can be done by drunk driving. Second rough, I was drew a wine bottle in the right top and the bottle poured out in the car. At the same time, the car is also dilapidated, and a piece of blood under the car I painted as a car, I want to express that scene is because of drunk driving. The third one, in usually the drunk and driving posters, we always see pictures are all related to the car, so I want to make some new vision. I choose a wine bottle to combine with blood transfusion. The wine bottle is presenting the people drinking, and the blood transfusion is represent hospital. I make this vision, the message I want to convey to people is that after you drink a gulp of alcohol, which would be cause an accident happen and you will be going to hospital for transfusion. In the end, I choose the wine bottle combine with blood transfusion as concept. 7 PROCESS

PROCESS I choose the wine bottle combine with blood transfusion as concept. At the first, I cut the red wine bottle, I only take top of wine bottle. Secondly, I use pen tool drew the blood transfusion, but I only take the bottom part. For the first one rough, I use “Don’t let cheers turn to tears” as my words, and choose Marker Felt as font, I think this font can represent the tears because Marker Felt not that formal. I use big size put the words on the bottle, and repeat “Cheers” on the bottle. The “Tears” I put it on the blood transfusion. For the second rough, I replace the words on the wine bottle, the words are paint black colour, the font use Marker Felt as well. Also, following the words to blood transfusion, I separate words tracking, and irregular arrange the letters. However, on the bottom, I make different size letter and it has different angle, I want to create a feeling of blood flow.

9 FINAL

FINAL For the final concept, I keep original concept, but I change the wine bottle’s colour, which is become deep dark red. Meanwhile, I choose Helvetica as font because of it more readable. The sentence is following the right side bottle going down, the “Tears” following the line go into the blood transfusion bottle. In the bottom of blood transfusion bottle, I pile up the letters act the bottom to create blood flow effect. Flowing the blood flow, the word of tear comes out. In the end of blood transfusion, the sentence “Don’t let cheers turn to tears” is output. For the colour, wine bottle is red, so I use white word to place on it. Also, the transfusion bottle is white, I choose red paint on words, on the one hand wants to make the visual effect more like blood, on the other hand work in concert with the red wine bottle. The blood transfusion bottle is white, it looks too flat, so I change the opacity level to make the transfusion bottle looks more stereoscopic. In the final, I chose grey colour with texture as background, the background has a little bit gradian, with the gradual change of the background, the audience will focus on the object, meanwhile, the object can stand out by the background. Also, the background’s texture make the visual not that graphic.
