HIGH ENERGY LASER: THE MOST POWERFUL LASER DEVICES LASER

AGAINST

PAIN, REDUCES INFLAMMATION,

ACCELERATES LOCAL METABOLISM.

The interactions of the High Energy Laser Therapy with the tissue can be divided into four main categories, depending on the type of process, that follow the absorption and essentially depend on the wavelength, power density and timing of the emission modes (e.g. continuous, pulsed and super-pulsed) of the radiation used: I) Photophysical interactions: the laser's monochromaticity is used to excite the target chromophor (haemoglobin, myoglobin, water, etc.); II) Photochemical interactions: the absorption process is followed by a series of chemical reactions that alter the biological sub-layer; III) Photothermal interactions: due to the conversion of the energy using in heat; IV) Photomechanical interactions: focusing high power impulses on very small volumes allows obtaining real mechanical vibrations.

808, 980 and 1064 nm laser sources are absorbed in a different way 650 from each cellular layer. 810 HO All of them are the most 50% effective wavelenghts for 980 getting therapeutical results into the treatment Nd:Yag of human pathologies in terms of pain, inflammation of muscles, tendons HO Melanina and bone. The latest source is the 300 1000 LUNGHEZZA D’ONDA (nm) visible one which is working at 650 nm, like HeNe, and allows the operator to get in touch with cutis, but it is also and mainly used for making visible the laser beam.

TECHNOLOGY BECOMES SUITABLE

FOR GETTING THE BEST PERFORMANCES

High Energy Laser Therapy is for operators who are like to get quick recoveries and discernible effects for each treatment and, therefore, want something more than the traditional laser devices. High Energy Laser Therapy represents a revolutionary technological and therapeutic advan-

cement over traditional laser sources. It guarantees deeper penetration, deep diathermy, greater therapeutic versatility and therapeutic performances that are unthinkable with other laser devices.

CONTINUOUS,

PULSED AND SUPER PULSED EMISSION MODES

HIGH ENERGY L ASER

Continuous Emission For using the max output power, reducing applications times, getting warm effects over the affected area. Also, it is useful to use continuous emission mode while automatic scanning or static emission modes are performed over a large part of the body. Operator may adjust intensity from the lowest level to the highest level, both before starting treatment that during treatment, just in order to adapt intensity to the real feedback of the patient. Pulsed emission Pulsed emission or interrupted emission mode is performed for reducing thermal effects over the different cellular layers and delivering high energy power. Super Pulsed emission The Super Pulsed method produces a high level of light impulse for a very brief duration for each pulse width, which for the most part is athermic or almost athermic. The highest incidence of super pulsed emission mode allows to avoid thermal effect over the most superficial tissues, avoiding energy saturation and granting into the same time the deepest penetration for getting in touch with tendons, bone and bigger muscles. The high power emitted during each pulse (super pulsed) prevents, or however, reduces heat transfer to the surface tissues, thus preventing saturation and providing deep tissue penetration. Conditions being equal, the increase in intensity compared to continuous emission allows: ● deeper action ● more even distribution ● safer application Trigger Points Treatment of the trigger points is useful while a painful area is advisable, Generally over small areas of the body. Trigger points are available over the muscles, mainly over the body of the muscle. Usually, it is used super pulsed emission mode for treating trigger points, by trasnferring laser energy over each point for a short application time, in order to avoid dangerous energy density.

Application is manually made over each point.

The best optical way of each articulation is the part of the body where it is possible to find the lowest density, where the laser beam could penetrate at the best way. 21

FIBER L ASER:

M A N UA L A N D S TAT I C A P P L I C AT I O N S FIBER is available with four different laser sources: infra-red at 808 nm and 5 W, infra-red at 808 nm and 10 W; solid state 1064 nm (Nd:YAG type) at 15 W and last but not least, combined at 808 nm + 1064 nm at 12 W for granting transmission all over the different cellular layers. 808 nm wavelength is getting in touch with the deepest tissues; otherwise, 1064 nm is absorbed a little less than 808 nm but it is diffused in a larger area due to the better absorption from liquids (such as water and blood). Every model is a very special laser device, which is capable to deliver high energy laser beam. Usually, FIBER is provided with a small cabinet that the operator could place over a table or the special ROLAND 2 trolley. Operator may use FIBER laser manually for getting the best from each application and treating carefully each patient and/or he may decide to provide the unit with a special arm for doing static application over quite large areas (from 6 to 12 cm large). Ø 6 cm

Manual application Manual application is usually performed over a small part of the body where it is possible to find the proper optical ways for transmitting laser beam. Usually, the operator moves a little bit the probe over the part of the body, avoiding to be fixed over a certain point just in order to avoid energy saturation and bad feeling from the patient. Also, it is suitable to use manual application while the operator would like to treat trigger or tender points. Application time over each point is very short due to the high laser energy. Static application On this opportunity, two special applicators (6 and 12 cm large) are available for performing application by using a special arm over a quite large area. Laser beam, with a proper diffusion coming form the divergence of each source, is transferred for covering all the area of the applicator, by granting a very wide treatment all over the interested area. Several times, each pathology is made by both the applications, manual and static. Manual for being sure to get in touch with the deepest tissues and automatic for covering a quite large area able to provoke warm and increasing of metabolism over the interested are and all around the area.
