As we close out 2021, this report takes a look at real estate and wealth through the lens of the last two years. It questions: Has real estate become a bigger piece of the wealth pie? If so, who are its beneficiaries and how are they driving the trends of today’s market?

Data and research revealed some staggering results. Cryptocurrency gains, rebounding stock markets, soaring house prices and increased savings boosted wealth significantly between 2019 and 2021. These factors, along with the profound lifestyle changes wrought by the pandemic, caused luxury home sales to surge to record levels. Demand for high-end housing outpaces availability. Suburban settings, resort markets and second-tier cities are booming. Last year’s urban exodus appears to have been temporary as metropolises stage comebacks.
