Much has happened in the ten years since we set off “to put premium quality watches within the reach of everyone” but 2014, has by any measure, been the most exciting to date.
Designed and developed by our master watchmaker, Johannes Jahnke, Calibre SH21 is an important milestone for the British watch industry and places Christopher Ward at the forefront of horological innovation – a position we are immensely proud of. Unsurprisingly, the first watch containing Calibre SH21, the C9 Harrison 5 Day Automatic, opens this guide to our collection on page 8, but whichever page your eye rests on you will be viewing watches and accessories that owe everything to the outstanding design and craftsmanship for which Christopher Ward has become renowned. It’s hard to believe that we are already celebrating Christopher Ward’s tenth Christmas. It was in the run up to the big day back in 2004 that we learned our first watch, the now iconic C5 Malvern Automatic Mk 1, was being discussed on Timezone.com more frequently than Rolex. Christopher Ward's in-house movement, Calibre SH21, which powers the C9 Harrison 5 Day Automatic is one such movement. Created by our master watchmaker, Johannes Jahnke, our new calibre, which is a certified chronometer by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), can run under its own steam, once fully wound, for 120 hours/5 days. And here's the really clever bit; unlike most
movements with such extended reserves of power there is no compromise in the stability or robustness of the movement which means the wearer can be confident that his watch will withstand even quite rugged conditions and require the minimum of servicing. The design of the watch follows the familiar modern classic ethos of the Harrison Collection. It has that understated and timeless quality of all Harrisons which requires each element to be harmonious and brilliantly executed so that the whole becomes greater than the sum of the parts.

C9 0 0 HARRISON SINGLE PUSHER LIMITED EDITION Nothing unites young and old so effectively as a shared passion. For some it is sport, for others it might be music, classic cars, travel or history. But the common denominator which enabled 28-year-old Johannes Jahnke and an 87-year-old Jean Fillon to form an almost instant bond is their mutual fascination for horology – or, more specifically, for solving the problems it so often produces. Jean Fillon was just 24 years of age when he arrived at James Aubert, the Swiss movement manufacturer that had been established in the early 20th century to specialise in supplying chronograph mechanisms for the leading watch brands of the day.
The bespoke JJ02 calibre movement of the C900 has been extensively reworked from a Fillon design with a new main plate, bridges, winding mechanism, centre-second wheels, and a swan neck adjustment system. The highly legible dial carries a continuous seconds sub-dial and a 30-minute totaliser. All functions are controlled through the single pusher crown and the large exhibition back allows the mechanism to be admired in all its glory. There will be only 250 examples made of the steel version and, even more exclusively, only 25 pieces of the 18ct rose-gold version.

C9 00 WORLDTIMER The C900 Worldtimer is the watch for anyone who regularly travels the globe. Both timezones function on a 24 Hour clock basis as a result of master watchmaker, Johannes Jahnke's unique modification of the ETA 2893's gearing system. Additionally, he has synchronised the GMT hand to a rotating disc which shows the relevant airport code in a window at 12 O'clock as demonstrated by JFK in the image opposite.
This complication is then supported by a red dot appearing on the dial in the airport's geographic location. Every detail of the C900 has been beautifully crafted but deserving of special mention is the magnificent dial which is our finest to date. This superb example of the watchmaker's art is the first-class upgrade all world-traveler's deserve to enjoy.

It was both a landmark for Christopher Ward being one of the first two designs introduced in 2005.The most significant change in this second version is the move to a slightly larger
39mm case and the new one-piece dial with a glorious optic white or sunray galvanic finish. Subtle elongations to the raised indexes add to the contemporary but timeless appeal of the new design. The Malvern MK II is a worthy successor to its famous predecessor. A new legend in the making.

C3 MALVERN CHRONOGRAPH MKII When poring over vintage Aston Martin dashboards at the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon in early 2004 Mike and Chris were inspired to create the original C3 Chronograph. They had no idea then that this classic looking sports watch would become such an iconic watch for the CW brand.
In Mark II trim, the new version loses none of the quintessentially English appeal of the original. The new galvanic and optic white one piece dials, as well as bringing a fresh, more contemporary appeal, also add greater clarity to the chronograph eyes, giving them greater prominence.

Sir William Lyons of the Jaguar Car Company designed the sleek and finely streamlined D-Type entirely with Le Mans in mind, and from 1955 to 1957 he was rewarded with an historic hat-trick of victories there. It was under the illustrious Flag Metallic Blue livery of Scotland's Ecurie Ecosse team, however, that secured the most famous victory for the car when, driven by Britons Ron Flockhart and Ivor Bueb, chassis number XKD 606 stormed the race, ahead of another four D-Types in the top six places. The C70 D-Type chronograph, powered by an ETA 251.272, 22 jewel quartz movement and dressed resplendently in the Ecurie Ecosse team's colours, carries the winning car's chassis number in the tachymeter and the car's registration on the side of the case. However, it is the attention to detail of the dial, where the D-Type's various instruments are captured in the chrono eyes and the radiator grille has been faithfully reproduced, that best capture the spirit of this most famous of Jaguar's racing cars. Embedded behind museum-grade sapphire crystal in the back-plate of this stunning chronometer is an original piece of exterior panelling from the seventh GTO (only 39 were ever built), which left the Ferrari factory on 22nd May, 1962. The date is actually featured in the watch's tachymeter. To understand the GTO's importance in the annals of automotive history, one needs only to recall the world record $52 million spent by an unnamed buyer in October 2013 to secure chassis number 5111 GT from Connecticut-based collector Paul Pappalardo. The chassis number of the C70's car, 3527 GT, gives this strictly limited watch its nomenclature, and this is indicated on the side of the case. The traditional Ferrari colouring of the beautifully executed dial serves as an impressive overture for the back-plate of the
watch. The piece of original metal has been skillfully cut by experts in Switzerland to allow the number 6 from the car's number-plate to be shown in glorious Rosso Corsa livery. To own a Ferrari 250 GTO is an impossible dream for all but a handful of billionaire collectors and ageing rock stars (Nick Mason of Pink Floyd owns one); but for a fortunate few, the dream can be at least partially realised by owning the C70 3527 GT. The C70 3527 GT – named from the chassis number of the seventh Ferrari 250 GTO to leave the Maranello gates and from which it has a precious fragment of body panel in the case back– is a limited edition of 100. C70 VW4 CHRONOMETER LIMITED EDITION The C70 VW4 Chronometer has been inspired by the 1957 victory at Aintree of the Vanwall VW4 racing car that started with Tony Brooks behind the wheel and took the chequered flag with Stirling Moss in the driver's seat. This was the first time a World Championship Grand Prix race had been won in Britain by a British car, driven by British drivers. As the Vanwall cars were constructed in Maidenhead, the home of Christopher Ward, the astonishing story of how this British team fought off and beat the then all-conquering Ferraris is particularly close to us, and we felt an overwhelming need to create a watch of equal style and panache to celebrate the achievement.
The movement, a rare chronometer version of ETA's superb 251 calibre movement, sets the bar very high for yet another signature motor racing watch from the CW design studio. The Number 20 of the winning car occupies the 12 o’clock position on the face, while the 18 of the second machine is highlighted in Vanwall's trim colour of yellow on the bezel. Moss's astonishing 90.61mph best average lap speed is picked out in red on the tachymeter. The reverse of the watch enshrines the British achievement with a deep-etched engraving. We have aviation to thank for men’s wrist watches, for until flying pioneer Alberto Santos-Dumont complained to his friend, the watchmaker Louis Cartier, that he found using his pocket watch awkward in flight – which invoked the famous 1904 Cartier Santos watch - it was only women who wore watches this way. Christopher Ward's most technically sophisticated aviation watch is inspired by one of the most advanced military aircraft in the world, the RAF's multi-role combat fighter, the FGR4 Typhoon. The watch, which is powered by a modified version of ETA's 7750 chronograph movement, is the first in our entire collection to have a high-tech ceramic case, making the C1000 Typhoon extremely light. Built around a titanium subframe for additional strength, the ceramic used is one of the most advanced composites in the world and at seven times stronger than steel, only a diamond will make a mark on the durable and highly scratch-resistant surface. The charcoal black dial, which uses the font of the Typhoon's Head Up Display (HUD) for the SuperLuminovaTM
numerals, carries the RAF's low visibilty baby blue and salmon pink roundel at 6 o'clock (LV version only) and even the outlines of the chronograph eyes have been subtly indented with the shape of the plane’s after-burners. The dramatic delta-wing shape of the aircraft is captured on the counter-balance of the second hand and the distinctive small forward wings, known as canards, at the tip. The trademark Christopher Ward deep-etched engraving on the reverse captures the plan of the Typhoon perfectly and the ensemble is finished superbly with a high density webbing strap and titanium buckle. For those of us who dream, the C1000 is as close as we will ever come to being a fighter pilot!

C8 REGULATOR Before the advent of more modern methods of checking for the accuracy of a watch, watchmakers used a regulator clock where the hour, minute and second hands are operated separately, to check their work. More recently, mechanical regulator watches were used during Second World War bombing raids when greater precision was essential. The aesthetic of the C8 Regulator has been strongly influenced by this period. The most important hand, the minute hand, is centrally located, whilst the hours and seconds can be read from the two sub-dials which are established at the bi-polar points of the dial in traditional fashion. The ‘Old
Radium’ SuperLuminovaTM finish of the hands and indexes adds to the military feel of the watches as does the aviation theme of the over-sized crown and the superb distressed vintage leather strap. The new Bader deployment is also fitted as standard. The 44mm C8 case always makes an important statement but it is the reverse of the case on the Regulator which will attract attention. A full-width transparent crystal back plate allows the magnificent bespoke hand-wound Unitas 6498 movement to be seen in all its full resplendent glory. An unusual and special watch for those of you who prefer not to follow the herd.

C11 TITANIUM EXTREME 1000 Titanium is a chemical element (Ti) which was discovered in Cornwall in 1791 by geologist William Gregor. It is as strong as steel, yet 45% lighter and is highly resistant to corrosion in seawater which makes it just about the best case material possible for a dive watch. It's not only the case material, however, that makes the C11 Extreme one of the finest professional dive watches available. We have also engineered the case with a 4.3mm thick AR08 coated sapphire crystal to give water resistance for up to 1000 metres (nearly 3.300 feet) which puts this watch in a very small group of watches that have been watertight to this depth. The helium release valve integrated into the case is activated during very deep dives when the differential between the inside and outside pressure reaches a critical point, preventing the watch from exploding. Powered by a certified chronometer version of a Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, adds all important accuracy to reliability. So, this is a watch that very serious divers need to safely perform under extreme depths. For the rest of us, it is a privilege to have the chance to own such a fine piece of engineering - especially one that looks as cool as the C11 Extreme!
