SOUTHWIND 2015 This summer my wife, Amanda Claire, and I had the opportunity to take a group of Clarksdale middle schoolers from Lee Academy to a WyldLife camp in Florida just a matter of days after we moved to town. To be honest, it was a struggle to begin with and we were definitely tired, but it was a week full of blessings and relationships. Our friends got to run, slide, swim, play frisbee golf, cover each other in mud from head to toe, play soccer, basketball, and so much more, all in a place that truly displays God’s creativity and the fullness he promises us. Every day we sat in club
and heard the gospel story from beginning to end, had conversations in our cabins about what all of it means, and our leaders spent one-on-one time going even deeper, while praying for rescue for their middle school friends. What a great trip to begin the year with! These kids are the future of the ministry and we can’t wait to continue to build on the friendships formed and the forever relationships that began between some of our friends and their maker.
SHARPTOP 2015
We took a couple of trips to SharpTop Cove in Jasper, GA this summer. The first at the beginning of the summer with some friends from Lee Academy, and the second with friends from Griot and Clarksdale and Coahoma High. Much like our Southwind trip, these weeks were full of adventure and life. Caroline, a senior at Lee said, “YL camp was the greatest week of my life. I

SHARPTOP CONTINUED was reminded of how much God loves us, cares for us, and wants to know us”. But it wasn’t just our high school friends that were changed that week. We are thankful for the adults that spent time sleeping with them, eating with them, and running all over the property with them so that they could have the best week of their lives. Mary Martha Bobo shared that, “it was so special to be in the cabin with the girls at camp. Being there to see them interact with each other and to gain their friendship and trust over the week has carried into many lifetime friendships. I know God will use these relationships to advance His kingdom and deepen all of our relationships with Him”. I believe that He is already doing just that! At the end of the day, when you strip away all the facilities and events, the games and the meals, and even Young Life, our hope is that our teenage friends would simply come to know Jesus and grow in their faith in Him. Camp this summer was an unbelievable springboard into the exciting year ahead! Thank you for all of your support in allowing each one of our middle and high school friends to be there.
YOUNG LIFE/WYLDLIFE FALL UPDATE This fall is already off to a great start! We’ve had a couple of Young Life clubs at Lee, a WyldLife club at Lee, basketball and some smaller group gatherings are continuing at the Young Life Gym on Anderson, and we have an incredible group of adults and high school students praying, playing, planning, and pursuing teenagers all over the Delta this Fall. Our prayer is that anywhere you would normally find a middle or high school student, if you look carefully enough, you’ll also find a Young Life or WyldLife leader right there in the middle. We are doing all that we can to immerse our leaders in the world of kids. It is that ministry of presence that makes all the difference! There are a number of incredible things happening in our community that are seeing the Lord’s favor in reaching people, and we are praying that Young Life continues to be one of those. Young Life clubs happen weekly for Lee. WyldLife, in some form (be it Campaigners, Club, or something fun), happens every Tuesday. For a full schedule of things going on, see our website below!
