WORK SAMPLE SPRING 2015
New Orleans Tanzakademie Spring 2014 :: Prof. Micheal Crosby
1
The Tanzakademie was an exercise in inverting the local warehouse typology and creating a lofted, articulated mass. This re-orientation of space allowed for a large covered public space to be created in a closed neighborhood. The lower floors of the academy are dedicated to the public aspects, including the formal performance venues. The middle of the building contains the educational aspects of dance an the top two floors are entirely dominated by studios which give the dancers natural daylighting and panoramic views.

Duncan Plaza Civic Court Complex Spring 2015 :: Prof. John Klingman
3 The redesign of Duncan Plaza involved maintaining the axial relationship between city hall and the public library while demonstrating a new attitude of responsible civic use of water within the City of New Orleans. The large bridge facilitates travel on a civic scale over a geometric waterscape which harkens to a swamp typology that raises and lowers with rain and slowly snakes it’s way across the site. The building is two pieces, one is an oďŹƒce component which creates the threshold to city hall and the other is a lofted courthouse component which provides airy space for legal proccedings

New Orleans Building Arts Institute Fall 2013 :: Prof. Marianne Desmarais
5
The Building Arts Institute sought to reinvigorate local building trades and traditions by creating a live/ work space where local artisans and craftsman could learn and create in a collaborative environment. The project opens up the typically very insular New Orleans city block interior to become the main gathering and working space. This is achieved through placing seperate programatic components on the perimeter of the site and creating a defined ambulatory path around center to facilitate visual connectivity between each part of the Institute.
