COMPANY HISTORY We are the first company creating climbing gear, based in Greece. Brand new, modern, advanced company, we are proud to export mountaineering and outdoor equipment, all over the world. The name of the company 2918, was inspired from the highest altitude in Greece, 2918 meters. Located at the mythical Olympus mountain, with the pick named Mytikas. Studying the local flora and fauna of the mountain, a very interesting tiny black and bright yellow creature popup. The fire salamander, became our mascot since then, and the inspiration for the whole branding of the company. As well as its long-standing tradition in the manufacture of ropes, decades of experience and the in-depth knowledge of specialists in the areas of clothing, sleeping bags, shoes and accessories, 2918 also relies to a great extent on feedback from numerous sportsmen and women, who regularly use, test and participate in the development of 2918 Sports Group equipment.

WHAT TYPE OF CLIMBING SHOES ARE YOU? Rock climbing shoes are the interface between you and the rock, and the wrong type of shoe or fit can hold you back. When choosing climbing shoes, there are three primary considerations. Rock climbing shoes are the interface between you and the rock, and the wrong type of shoe or fit can hold you back. Features like laces, straps, linings and rubber affect the performance of a shoe. For the best performance, climbing shoes should fit snug but not painfully. Getting the right fit will help you climb harder and longer.

These shoes have very downturned toes and lots of heel tension to put your feet in a strong and powerful position for challenging overhanging climbs. Most aggressive shoes have an asymmetric shape that curves toward the big toe, focusing power over the toe for precise placements on small holds. Because of the snug fit and downturned shape, climbers typically wear aggressive shoes for single-pitch sport climbs and routes at the gym rather than all-day multi-pitch climbs.

Moderate shoes are distinguished by their slightly downturned shape (also called camber) that makes them good for technical climbing. These all-purpose shoes can handle slab routes, crack climbs, long multi-pitch climbs and slightly overhung sport routes.

These shoes offer a relaxed fit for all-day comfort. They allow your toes to lie flat inside the shoes. Because they tend to be more comfortable, neutral shoes are a great choice for beginner climbers, but theyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re also good for experienced climbers who want comfortable, all-day shoes for long multi-pitch climbs.

WHAT TYPE OF CLIMBER ARE YOU? There are many different activities described as rock climbing, hill walking and mountaineering. Many are outdoors activities whilst others take place on indoor climbing walls. Some activities are usually carried out with ropes to help manage the risks, whilst others, such as bouldering, free solo climbing and hill walking, are invariably done without ropes.

With ropes can be done indoors or outdoors and usually involves two people, but it can be done in a group. The person climbing is tied to a rope controlled by another person. Sport climbing is where fixed protection is already placed in the rock for climbers to clip into as they ascend. Soloing is where people climb on their own and usually without a rope. Bouldering is a form of climbing usually practised on small rocks and boulders, or at indoor walls.

Involves walking over mountainous terrain and venturing through exhilarating landscapes with fabulous views. Specialist skills needed include map reading, terrain judgment and navigation. WHAT TYPE OF ROPE ARE YOU? There are two main types of ropes: dynamic and static. Dynamic ropes are designed to stretch to absorb the impact of a falling climber. Static ropes stretch very little, making them very efficient in situations like lowering an injured climber, ascending a rope, or hauling a load up. Never use static ropes for top roping or lead climbing as they are not designed, tested or certified for those types of loads. If you are looking for a dynamic rope for climbing, you’ll have three choices single, half, and twin ropes.

SINGLE ROPES These are best for trad climbing, sport climbing, big-wall climbing and top roping. The vast majority of climbers buy single ropes. The name “single” indicates that the rope is designed to be used by itself and not with another rope as some other rope types are. Single ropes come in many different diameters and lengths, making them suitable for a wide range of climbing disciplines, and they’re generally easier to handle than two-rope systems.

HALF & TWIN ROPES These are best for trad climbing on wandering multi-pitch rock routes, mountaineering and ice climbing. When climbing with half ropes, you use two ropes and clip them alternately to protection. This technique is effective at limiting rope drag on wandering routes, but it takes some getting used to. Similar to half ropes, twin ropes are a two-rope system. However, with twin ropes, you ALWAYS clip both strands through each piece of protection, just like you would with a single rope.

STATIC ROPES These are best for rescue work, caving, climbing fixed lines with ascenders and hauling loads.
