SNAPSHOT STORY - THE PILLBOX Image Chosen
CONCEPT BRIEF - STORY OUTLINE Hong Kong is known to be one of the most prosperous region in the world. The flourished side of Hong Kong was always my impression about the city. However, because of an adventure me and my friend went, I discovered an unusual side of the city. I want to tell this memorable experience I had that day enjoying the beauty of Hong Kong in an abandoned pillbox. The story will be approximately 3 mins and the target audience will be my professor and classmates. In the story, stor me and my friend decided to discover where a path in Hok Tsui village will lead us to. We took nothing but our own film cameras. Therefore, in the snapshot story, I decided to use the images we took from our film cameras during the a dventure. I would like to use a more lively music because it was a happy time I experienced. While narrating some of the scenes when we were in the jungle or by the seashore, I will add some sound effects to make it more realistic.

VIDEO NARRATIVE - THE THREE LITTLE PIGS
CONCEPT BRIEF - STORY OUTLINE The video will be illustrating the Children's story - The Three Little Pigs with my own pictures. The story is meant to target children, but for this class, the audience will be my professor and classmates. It will be illustrated and told in a short period of time, which will be around 3-5 minutes. I will use some pictures from the internet and cut them into individual characters and objects. Then, I will use a stop motion method to illustrate the story. For example, each character is presented one after the other. Each motion is a picture. A relaxed song will be used in the background as this is a children's story. stor Me and my friend will be narrating the story together using the story as the script.

Script Once upon a time, there was a mother pig who had three little baby pigs. The three little pigs grew so big that their mother said to them, "You are too big to live here any longer. You must go and build houses for yourselves. But take care that the wolf does not catch you." The three little pigs set off. "We will take care that the wolf does not catch us," they said. Soon they met a man who was carrying some straw. "Please will you give me some straw?" asked the first little pig. "I want to build a house for myself." "Sure," said the man, and he gave the first little pig some straw. The first little pig built himself a house out of it. He was very pleased with his house. He said, "Now the wolf won't catch me and eat me!" The second little pig and the third little pig went on along the road. Soon they met a man who was carrying some sticks. "Please will you give me some sticks?" asked the second little pig. "I want to build a house for myself." "Sure," said the man, and he gave the second little pig some sticks. Then the second little pig built himself a house of sticks. It was stronger than the house of straw. The second little pig was very pleased with his house. He said, "Now the wolf won't catch me and eat me!" The third little pig walked along the road by himself. Soon he met a man carrying some bricks. "Please will you give me some bricks?" asked the third little pig. "I want to build a house for myself." "Sure," said the man, and he gave the third little pig some bricks. Then the third little pig built himself a house of bricks. It took him a long time to build it, and it was a very strong house. The third little pig was very pleased with his house. He said, "Now the wolf won't catch me and eat me!" The next day, the wolf came along the road. He came to the house of straw that the first little pig had built. When the first little pig saw the wolf coming, he ran inside his house and shut the door. The wolf knocked on the door and said, "Little pig, little pig. Let me come in!" "Then I'll huff and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house in!" said the wolf. So he huffed and he puffed, and he huffed and he puffed. The house of straw fell down, and the wolf ate up the first little pig. The next day, the wolf walked further along the road. He came to the house of bricks that the third little pig had built. When the third little pig saw the wolf coming, he ran inside his house and shut the door. The wolf knocked on the door and said, "Little pig, little pig. Let me come in!" "Then I'll huff and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house in!" said the wolf. So he huffed and he puffed, and he huffed and he puffed. But the house of bricks did not fall down. The wolf was very angry, indeed. He said, "Little pig, I am going to eat you up. I am going to climb down your chimney to get you." The little pig was very frightened, but he said nothing. He put a big pot of water on the fire to boil. The wolf climbed on the roof, and then he began to come down the chimney. The little pig took the lid off the pot, and when the wolf came out of the chimney, he fell into the pot with a big splash! That was the end of the wolf.

CONCEPT BRIEF Travelling through time has always been a dream for many people. It is a desire to go back and meet yourself or to go forward to see what will happen in the future. The soundscape I put together is to depict the movement of travelling through the fourth dimension. It is imagined that a time machine creates a path through time and space going through the history, present and future of human communication. The person listening to the soundscape can experience the development of human communication in relation to the sound surrounding us. Several layers of sounds are put together to create this imaginary landscape. The background layer uses the recordings and sample sounds of the planets, moons and rings of planets in our Solar System recorded by NASA to create the sound of travelling through time and space. Echo is also used to enhance the effect of distance. At the beginning, sounds of crowds slowly merge with the background layer. The crowd sounds and people sounds are reversed to depict the regression of oral culture, and slowly progressing to the era of information technology. The sounds of mouse clicking and keyboard typing merges as these tools are becoming the major way we communicate with one another at the present with the development of Internet and social media. At last, the sound of machines and robots moving merges and the sounds of typing and clicking fades out. This is the future I see as the era of technological singularity arrives. Machines will be replacing human activities in this cyberspace. Therefore, the sounds of machines becomes more quick and forceful until the journey through the four dimension ends. Overall, the soundscape surrounds the theme of technology and is inspired by the music created by Ryoji Ikeda, a Japanese sound artist whose music is concerned with sine tones and noise.

The last word rhymes, the letter J is outlawed There was once when I was thinking about what to write Then I laid on my bed and dreamt that night In my dreams I saw there was a beacon light And slowly and slowly it went out of sight I walked forward to see if everything's alright Suddenly, there came a red spider might An important moment for "fight or flight" Without a doubt I chose to fight My sight turned from black to white, Woken up by the bright sunlight
Eyes- Video Poem In this constrained writing, the poem is a lipogram that outlaws the letter "J". All other letters are used in the poem. The reason to outlaw the letter "J" is by randomness, by drawing lots within the alphabets.Â
This is a poem that reflects the repetitive life of a person. I used "eyes" as the opening stanza and title because eyes is something that reflects one's true emotion and they can't tell lies. Mirror is a metaphor to 'look' and 'reflect' ourselves, corresponding to the repetitive life we are looking into. However, it is not a hopeless poem. There are always alternative to how we see ourselves and the way we live. By the end of the poem, I wanted to convey the message that without darkness there is no light. And therefore, let the light shine out of the darkness by changing the way we see.
For the editing of the video, I chose black and white as the theme as this is a rather sad poem. I used a lot of diuse from sentence to sentence to give a sadness and softness. The way the words appear and some structure of the sentences are repetitive. Some words are bolded to put emphasize on the words and emotion. After each paragraph of the poem, I put in images to match the emotion and situation. Moreover, the music was chosen carefully. The composer wrote this piece to depict "a person struggling with serious problems/memories trying to move on while the bad thoughts haunt him and hold him back. But he has not given up." Therefore, works well with the poem that I tried to convey a positive meaning by the end.

INTERACTIVE ARTIST MAP
The map I wanted to create is simple. The interactive map depicts four of my senses I perceive the world in a normal day on my way to school. Each of the colour of the lights represent one of my senses. For instance, red represents my visual, blue represents my hearing, yellow, my taste, and white, my touch. I recorded and reviewed the use of these senses from the start of the day, beginning with the hearing of the alarm. Then, eating a delicious breakfast, feeling the wind and sunshine when I came out from my apartment. There are always something to see: gooses, the UC hill, roads that guide my way to my destination. The audience can slide through the page as the LED light lightens up along the way, showing which sense I was using and what I was experiencing. It is quite exciting to consciously remember what allows me to perceive the world in the way I see. I am usually unaware that I am using all these senses and recording it makes the my day more fun.
MANIFESTO
in the dark
My manifesto is a political one. In September 2014, Hong Kong was involved in a mass civil disobedience that caught international attention, also referred as the “Umbrella Revolution” by western media. The movement is a result of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the Peopls’s Republic of China’s decision on proposed reforms to Hong Kong electral system. The umbrella became the key symbol of the movement as it was used by protesters to sheild from the tear gas and pepper spray deployed by the police. As a native born HongKongese, this event has caused a deep feeling to me. In my manifesto, I wrote “FREEDOM” on a yellow umbrella, which yellow represents the believe iand faith in democracy. I believe that no matter how strong the storm is, flower will still blossom.

MANIFESTO PUTTING IT INTO ACTION...
Not long after the movement, me and a group of Hong Kong students at Western started the “Yellow Ribbon Action” to raise the awareness of what’s happening in HK by giving out yellow ribbons, leaflets and asking for signatures to support democracy in HK outside UCC. Photos taken during this action was posted on Facebook, and was shared by several HK independent news media and was viewed by more than 2000 people.

INTERACTIVE 3D OBJECT
It is frustrating that during the cold Canadian winter, you sometimes do not want to get out of your blanket to see the time. The clock allows users to blow at the clock to see the time at night easily.

OPEN Â PROJECT For my final project, I would like to create a creative interactive piece of clothing that can be played and worn at the same time. Fashion designers always emphasize on the aesthetic side of clothing (e.g. cutting and graphics). However, to introduce an interactive element alongside with the aesthetic side can making a clothing, as simple as a t-shirt much more fun to wear. Inspired by one of my favourite brands - Outerspace, who created the following interactive clothing targeted to couples, the pair of Velcro in front of the shirt will "mate" each other when a female-sized and male-sized t-shirt meet, and temporarily attached until pulled apart.
My thought on the final project is to incorporate technology into a shirt to make it interactive and fun to wear. Using copper wire and LED lights, the wire will be sewn into the shirt and the LED lights will be attached to the wire. One shirt will be the positive side and the other will be the negative side. When the two shirt meet, a circuit will be formed and the LED lights will light up.
The technical side will be a big challenge for me as I always have a hard time figuring the positive and negative side when building my other projects.
