n the beginning, when your romance was fresh and exciting, do you remember those breathless moments with the one you loved? Joy, excitement, and nervous anticipation swirled around in your heart until you could barely breathe. Does your love relationship with God take your breath away? Do you feel joy, excitement, and anticipation swell up in breathless moments with God? Perhaps we need to look with fresh eyes at the wonders of God’s creation around us. Here are ten things that will cause your heart to overflow: 1. Stand in awe at the rim of the Grand Canyon. Worship is as simple as saying “wow” to God. 2. Feel the sand between your toes as you watch the master artist paint a limited-edition sunset over the Pacific Ocean. 3. Be mesmerized by the Northern Lights shimmering across the sky in Alaska. Hear the childlike cry of your heart to God: “Oh, do it again!” 4. Spend the night in “Big Sky Country” in rural Montana to see the Milky Way poured out in all its glory. Or at least stay up late to attend your local amateur astronomy club to learn about God’s unfathomable expanse in the universe. 5. Peer through the window at the newborn babies at your local hospital. Remind yourself that God created each of us to be unique reflections of His image in this world. 6. Marvel at the grandeur of the glacial-carved peaks and valleys of Glacier National Park. Consider the origins of the icy water, frozen in time for the lifespan of the glaciers. Try to fathom the fact that God is, and was, and always will be. 7. Watch golden grains ripple in the wind as you ride a train across the Great Plains. Mile after mile, appreciate the magnitude of God’s assignment for us to cultivate and care for His creation.

8. Drive through the deserts of the Southwest. Although someone might call the landscape a godforsaken place, the desert is not forsaken by God. It’s another in the variety of habitats for plants and animals. Marvel at the colorful cliffs, arches, and needles created by years of erosion, knowing that God created all of this for our enjoyment. 9. Take a slow, deep breath to enjoy the smell of the salty breeze blowing in off the Atlantic Ocean. Close your eyes to imagine the air currents originating halfway around the world to bring this breath of fresh air to your lungs. 10. Notice the natural world around you: sun, sky, clouds, flowers, trees, and other things that you may be tempted to overlook in your daily hustle. Look at those beautiful things as gifts, reminders of God’s love for you. Imagine that God, your beloved, left them for you as a token of His affection, to please you and brighten your day. God smiles when we enjoy His creation. As we stroll through life with God as our beloved, we will find ourselves filled with joy, wonder, and breathless excitement. God still takes my breath away. How about you?
