BLACK HEREFORD RANCH 18022 E 840 Road Crawford, OK 73638 (580) 309-0711 Kris Black

From all of us at Black Hereford Ranch, we would like to personally invite you to our 11th Annual Cream of the Crop Fall Bull Sale. We are excited about and grateful for your interest in this program. The bulls and bred heifers are all right here at the ranch and are easily available for viewing at your convenience. Please feel free to stop by and take a look at them any time that you are in the area. We will begin videoing all cattle around the 10th of October and they will be available for viewing from our website, as well as Superior’s. The sale will be broadcasted live from the ranch starting at 1:00 PM CST on Rural TV (Dish Network Channel 232.) We think this is by far the stoutest and deepest set of club calf producing bulls that we have ever offered. We like good looking, stout, big bodied, wide based, extra sound, easy keeping cattle and this set of bulls and females fit that description. They are sired by bulls and out of dams that fit that criteria as well. It has been bred into them for generations. They are engineered to produce that way. We are trying something new, for the first time we are offering thirty tremendous bred heifers in this sale. They are mates to ones we sold this summer. Whether they go up north or down south, they will fit in with the top of any progressive club calf outfit. Many of which are the quality of what good donors possess. They will weigh 1,100-1,300 and most will calve at 30 months of age. They will begin calving the first of April and May, and finish up the middle of June. They will be really easy to transition into any fall breeding program. They are bred to two very good built, good looking, Low Birth Weight Registered Angus bulls. Both bulls have good birth weights and calving ease scores. These heifers ran on grass all summer and have not been fed in any way to cause problems later down the road. We believe there is incredible potential within this elite group of females. It is proven that a good herd bull is one of best investments and one of the quickest ways to improve your calf crop and cow herd. One good calf sired by or a good calf out of, one of his daughter’s will pay for your herd bull. We have seen it happen consistently out of this sale. Many of the bulls and heifers selling are progeny from COC bulls and females that our customers raise. We would love to help you merchandise their offspring through our Cream of the Crop Sales. Many of our customers take advantage of this program we offer with great results. We stand behind these cattle as well or better than anyone in the business. If you have any problems of any kind, please do not hesitate to let us know and we will make it right. If you cannot make it to the sale, give me a call ahead of time and I would be glad to visit with you about this stout offering of future club calf producers. I will guarantee sight unseen purchases with confidence. We appreciate your interest. Plan a weekend in Western Oklahoma and join us Sunday evening for a gathering of good food, conversation, and viewing of this offering. Then stay Monday for lunch and auction. Thank Y’all,

Kris Black The sale will also broadcast live on Superior Rural TV DISH Network Channel 232

“AFRICAN KING”

L O T

1

bfscoc 455 | Yellow | Fall 2013 | Polled S: Man Among Boys (Heat Wave) | D: African Queen (Yellow Jacket x Full Throttle–Simmental)

We are leading off the best set of bulls that we have ever offered with royalty. African King was in line to be the next top sire to come out of our Cream of the Crop Female Sale this summer. We had high expectations until he came up lame with a minor injury ten days before the sale. We pulled him from that sale, and now you have a second chance at him! He is 100% sound and ready to start making champions and high sellers in any direction he goes. He is a son of the popular Man Among Boys. He has a great deal of potential in many avenues. He will have AI sire marketability and will be a powerful herd bull that can generate major champion-caliber steers and females that will put you on the map. If you are looking for a herd bull backed heavily by proven dams and granddams on both top and bottom sides of his pedigree, then this is one for serious consideration. His famed dam, African Queen, holds the high selling female record to date through our Cream of the Crop Sales. Half interest sold for $39,000 in 2008 to our partners at the 5M Ranch in Laredo, Texas. In 2012, African Queen produced eight maternal siblings to this bull that generated over $160,000 in a single flush. She has generated well over $200,000 in progeny. Other progeny of this ground-shaking donor have made big impacts here as well as in many other progressive programs. African King has a lot of cow power to back him up. “The kind you can’t take your eyes off of.” His granddam on the bottom side, 9630, was a Full Throttle x 008–Simi x Angus. 9630 is only second on Kris’s long list of favorites behind her mother, 008. To this day, she is the best looking cow to ever walk our pastures. You can add Hoo Doo Phylli to his lineage of cow power. She is without a doubt the stoutest purebred Charolais female to ever leave the Hoo Doo Ranch. She easily earned a Lot 1 spot in our 2002 Female Sale as a bred heifer. She went on to raise ones like Yellow Jacket, Polar Ice and J10. She is still the only cow we have ever cloned. This bull has a credential list a mile long with siring capabilities out the back door—we have great expectations for this one. He is one of the very best for today’s market and will certainly be one of the best to ever sell out of the Cream of the Crop Sales. African King is very complete. He is plenty stout boned and wide made. He has an awesome square hip, big top and a perfect hind leg. Not since Yellow Jacket have we sold a genetically defect-free bull that was this hairy. He is up headed, nice fronted and has the same look and style possessed by his dam, granddam and great-granddam. God doesn’t make them like this one very often! 11th Annual Cream of the Crop Fall Bull Sale | Monday, October 26th, 2015

This one’s super stout, sound, had yak hair before he was slick sheared to picture, and is just flat good all over. This bull has AI marketing potential and will hold a powerful position in any leading program.

Full brothers sell as Lots 23 and 24. The Fullwoods raised a darn good one here. His purebred Hoo Doo dam was a top seller in a COC sale as a bred heifer and was one of the best to ever leave this ranch. She has since produced the Champion Limi Steer at Houston. They flushed her several times and re-sold her as a cow for $25,000. Lot 23 was really hairy this spring but looks just as good without it.

•

There is a good deal of genetic power behind these two ET brothers selling as Lots 23 and 24.

Walk this Way out of a good Hoo Doo cow. Walks Alone and his son Walk This Way have worked great on the purebred Hoo Doo females.

L O T

26

bcoc 13 | Yellow | Fall 2014 S: Banshee (Choppin Wood x Hoo Doo) D: 987 (458 x Charolais)

Banshee was our high seller two years ago in this sale. Ricky Gray put him right to work, and this will be the first bull he has sired available at auction. This one is the right kind. Big bellied, square hipped and moves great with tremendous bone and muscle. Anyone who sees this one will like him.

L O T

28

ycoc 490 | Yellow | Spring 2014 | ET S: Polar Ice (George x Phylli) D: 9730 (Taz x Iabon–Angus)

Full brothers sell as Lots 28 and 29. An ET Polar Ice from one of the best cows to ever walk our pastures. If I was going to clone a cow, I should have cloned her. She had numerous $5–$15,000 progeny and was as consistent as any cow we have owned. This bull has slick shear champion muscle with a big, stout hip and a good look to go with it.

L O T

30

ycoc 517 | Yellow Roan | Spring 2014 | P | ET S: J10 (George x Phylli) D: 9970 (Casper x Sugar Ray)

Full brothers sells as Lots 30 and 31. J10 was our next great purebred Charolais sire, but we lost him at an early age. He was a full brother to Polar Ice that was stouter and a frame score smaller than his brother. We flushed Troubadour’s granddam (9970) to him with great results. This one is extra stout, great hipped and topped with a good look. His dam has earned her keep around here. At 16 years of age, she is still in our donor pen.

L O T

32

ycoc 486 | White | Spring 2014 | ET S: Freaknique (Heat of Moment) D: 41 (Hoo Doo)

Maternal brothers sell as Lots 32 and 33. A stout Freaknique out of our stoutest, deepest, most moderate purebred Hoo Doo donor cow. Half interest in her was offered as Lot 1 in our 2006 COC Female Sale and has been really good to our partners, the Hyatts. She has produced many $5–15,000 progeny as well as the $16,000 Shawshank. She’s a belly draggin’ hippo, an easy keeper and a super milking donor. This bull comes by it naturally…he is way deep, wide, sound and easy keeping.

L O T

27

bcoc 397 | Yellow Baldy | Fall 2014 S: Tank (Heat Seeker) D: Rio Bravo (PB Charolais)

We used Tank for several years successfully as a herd sire. He did lots of things right. This yellow baldy is good necked, plenty stout and sound. He is a paternal brother to Carpe Diem and will do things right in any club calf operation.

L O T

29

ycoc 519 | Yellow | Spring 2014 | ET S: Polar Ice (George x Phylli) D: 9730 (Taz x Iabon–Angus)

Full brothers sell as Lots 28 and 29. Lot 29 is loaded with muscle and belly. His dam was one of our best ever. These two ET brothers are built and look just alike.

L O T

31

ycoc 520 | Yellow Roan | Spring 2014 | ET S: J10 (George x Phylli) D: 9970 (Casper x Sugar Ray)

bcoc 83 | Smoke | Fall 2014 | Polled | ET S: Yellow Stone (Troubadour x Hoo Doo) D: 424 (2XEXT x Double Vision)

The first Yellow Stone son we have sold as a bull. He is big middled and sound with plenty of muscle and bone, just like his high selling sire that has earned his keep for Harlan Yocham and Scott Borland. He was a little greener at picture time. He’s out of one of Parkers’ best producing donor cows. She has produced two steers sired by Polar Ice that brought $16,000 and two bred heifers that were standouts in our 2015 COC Female Sale and brought $23,500. L O T

40

bcoc 73 | Smoke | Fall 2014 | Polled | ET S: Pump Daddy (Solid Gold x Horn 620) D: 507 (Spud x OCC Anchor)

Big ribbed and plenty of muscle with a stout, square hip and moves really good. Sired by Horn’s new poster child Pump Daddy. His productive dam has been a super donor for the Parkers. She produced two Polar Ice sons that brought $13,000 in the 2010 and $12,000 in the 2011 COC Sales.

42

bcoc 395 | White | Fall 2014 | Polled S: Solid Gold (Heat Wave) D: Madrid

35

ycoc 665 | Red | Spring 2014 | Polled S: Yellow Jacket D: 752 (Charolais x Angus)

L O T

37

bcoc 481 | Smoke | Spring 2014 | Scurred S: Yellow Jacket son D: Meyer x Angus

Extremely stout, moderate, big hipped and bellied bull that can flat get around good. Sired by a good Yellow Jacket son and out of a really nice 734 daughter. He has only been on feed since the first of September and is an easy keeping, good doer.

39

bcoc 84 | Smoke | Fall 2014 | ET S: Monopoly D: P36 (Hoo Doo)

Real sweet fronted, lots of middle, great hipped and really sound. This heifer will calve as a three-year-old through no fault of her own, as she was mistakingly never exposed to a bull. This is one of the nicest females we have sold this year.

wrt 7664 | Hereford | Spring 2014 S: Made Right x Donor 10 (Carpe Diem’s dam) | D: 30-06 Son x Shotgun | Preg check: See supplement

Very moderate, clubby looking Made Right daughter that is the kind we like. She has good potential to be a future stellar producer. Her dam is one of the coolest Hereford females that we own. Any Hereford show steer producer can make this one work wonders.

L O T

Stout, deep, way nice looking and as good a Hereford bred heifer as we have sold. Sired by a Made Right son out of Donor 10, Carpe Diem’s dam, and out of a good 30-06 x Shotgun cow. 30-06 was the sire of the high money earning, champion making COC cow that has been good enough to Ricky and Rusty Day that they have cloned her. Talk about cow power!

L O T

Extremely good looking, square hipped, good bellied, sound and built like I like them. She will fit in any progressive club calf operation and be the kind you will want to keep in the front pasture.

wrt 512 | White | Fall 2013 | Polled S: Freaknique (Heat of Moment) D: Alias Son x MA Preg check 9/4: 2.5 months

This is a cool looking Freaknique daughter out of a really good Alias granddaughter that Tracy Haymes sent me in the spring. She was preg checked shorter than she was bred and had a little Heff son just before the sale; therefore we did not keep her in the sale. That little Heff son grew into the $10,000 Easy Street that has been a tremendous low birth weight heifer bull for Neal Ray Davis. We have flushed this cow several times with good results. Anyone will like this one sale day!

A moderate sized, good hipped, big bodied Freaknique daughter that is out of a really good $18,000 Maxi Power x Emblazon cow. Sid Robinson purchased her dam from us a few years back, and she has been successful in his donor program as she has matured into a really beautiful cow.

ycoc 293 | Black | Fall 2013 | Polled S: Exacto (Troubadour x 2EXT) D: Lifeline x Phylli Preg check 9/4: 3 months

Really complete, nice necked, good hipped and sound Exacto daughter. Her dam is a full sister to Yellow Jacket that sold as a COC standout bred heifer to Matt Mann. Exacto was our high selling bull in 2012 to Brandon Bird. He has matured into a tremendous Troubadour son that still looks like a sale topper.

wrt 893 | Smoke | Fall 2013 S: Picante (Heat Wave x Maine x Limousin) D: Frost Proof Preg check 9/4: 3 months

Super bellied, good hipped, great looking, moderate sized Picante daughter. Picante sired the San Antonio Champion AOB Steer in 2013. He has been a good producing Heat Wave x Maine x Limi for us. His daughters were tremendous in our 2015 Female Sale. This one is out of a massively stout, good Alias granddaughter that is sired by our great producing Frost Proof bull. Sound as a cat!

ycoc 664 | Yellow | Fall 2013 | Polled S: Freaknique (Heat of Moment) D: Hoo Doo Preg check 9/4: 2 months

We should have pictured this one. Built as good as anyone could want one. A moderate, deep, square, sound good one, she is sired by one of the very best looking Charolais bulls we have seen that was a high seller in a past COC sale to Sid Robinson.

wrt 8325 | Smoke | Fall 2013 | Polled S: American Idol (Heat Wave) D: Heat Wave Preg check 9/4: 2 months

This American Idol x Heat Wave is a really neat fronted female with a big, bulging hip. With this much muscle and such a great hip, she has the ability to also work great in an American program.

You can turn these spring-calving heifers into fall calvers with ease. Calve them out, flush them once or twice and then breed them back next fall. Many of these will be donor worthy in any club calf operation they go to. Black Hereford Ranch retains the right to partner on two successful flushes on all females selling.

This blazed-faced 3/4 Simmental heifer will make a great cow. She is by the female maker Grandmaster and out of a good ET 734 daughter that is out of the big bellied, really, really good purebred Angus 623 donor cow. We flushed 623 for several years with great success. This big ribbed, square hipped, long necked Simi heifer was the only one we AI’d, and she stuck to Amigo, a solid red purebred Simmental. She will have an outstanding 7/8 Simi next spring.

A stout boned, square hipped, nice necked Irish Whiskey granddaughter that will make a good looking cow. Irish Whiskey females have been some of the best producers nationwide.

J10 was our next great purebred Charolais herd sire but sustained an injury at an early age. We luckily had a little semen collected on him, and what we have used has worked. J10 was a stouter, smaller version of his full brother Polar Ice and a maternal brother to Yellow Jacket. Straight purebred Hoo Doo females are going to get very hard to find. This one is good bodied and moderate sized. She will be a champion making cow.

Moderate sized paint by Jake’s Proud Jazz that is cool necked and good bellied. This one is really square hipped and will make a beautiful mature cow.

You are going to like this beautiful black Picante daughter. Cool fronted with plenty of rib and muscle, she is out of a real good 13-year-old Taz daughter that has been really good to us. Taz was a good halfblood Maine that we raised and promoted and is the maternal grandsire of Heat Wave. We almost cut Taz for a show steer.… I sometimes wonder how much different the club calf industry would be today if there had not been a Heat Wave.

This Texas Twister daughter has the perfect size and is build to raise slick shear champions. Big bellied, good muscled, nice, nice, nice. American and Brahman bulls would work on this good hipped heifer too.
