Welcome to Las Rojas It is a great experience to be associated with this sale of extraordinary Red Angus breeding cattle and the family enterprises that own them. This event promises to be one of the breed’s most exciting and most comprehensive offerings to date in the breed. The importation of the Canadian genetics have been a long and tedious project for the last two years and they are the best these outfits have to offer. The opportunity to take advantage of these endeavors and the fact that these cattle are now in the US is unprecedented. These Canadian genetics are rare and many of the sires represented can not be purchased in the US. The sale is being held at the newly constructed headquarters of Christy Collin’s Las Rojas breeding operation. The land that will surround you on sale day is steeped in registered beef cattle history, and Christy’s ancestors were instrumental in producing some of the great Hereford genetics on this same location. The storied heritage of the sale site is a very fitting venue for this great Red Angus sale offering.
The facility is located between Frederick and Chattanooga, Oklahoma, just off of Hwy 5. Go 12 miles east of Frederick, or 8 miles west of Chattanooga on Hwy 5. Go south off of Hwy 5, 1/2 mile on Road NS 234.

Selected from the Heart at U2 Ranch in Alberta
U2
Anexa 2X
LOT 1 2X is a power cow to say the least, she was easy to spot in the pastures at U2 and is overwhelming with the body and power that she possesses. She raised the heaviest bull calf, weaned this August at U2 at 960 lbs . In the past, she produced one son that is at work at Fran Kornfields. Darren and Joann stated, “It is really hard to send this cow south and let her go.” INXS is a son of Illicit, sired by U2 Icon. It was some of these photographs that I found on the web that led me to U2 Ranch in the first place. INXS daughters are powerful and built right. She goes back, on both sides of her pedigree, to Anexa 90T. 90T had 14 calves and died at age 16. There would be a lot of good, stout cattle in this cows lineage. She is at least four generations of U2 breeding in most of her pedigree. Lot 1 is a young cow will breed or flush well to many sires and is quit versatile. She has the power to produce herd sires and the quality and style to produce top daughters as well. None of the U2 females selling have ever been flushed.

U2
Misty 160X
LOT 2 Few times will a breeder have the chance to buy a young five year old cow that is proven like 160X. This cow could headline any program. When I selected 160X in the mountain pastures of U2 I was unaware that her heifer calf was also on the top of my list of heifer calves. The fact that we are selling this duo, in their entirety in this offering is a true opportunity for any aggressive program. If you want to talk about color, hair, size of foot, udder quality and eye appeal, Misty 160X has it in spades. She is smooth shouldered and long fronted to boot. I can’t say enough about the soundness and stoutness of bone and foot in these cattle. In addition to her exciting daughter selling as Lot 20, she has raised two sons that have sold to Hays Stock Grazing Co-op and Topham Red Angus in Canada. The marketability of this cow should be good with all the excitement surrounding her daughter.

Dam of a Feature Bull this Spring at U2 Ranch
U2
Ruby 69W
LOT 3 69W was probably my pick of the cows in the pastures this summer at U2. She is a wide, stout based cow that is tremendous out her hip and flank. I spotted this cow on the tank dam, then about 10 minutes later I saw her bull calf, and I knew there would be no way Darren would part with this one. Her superb 2015 calf, sired by Reckoning, will likely be a feature in the March Bull Sale at U2. In addition, I unknowingly picked out her 2014 heifer, 274B, in the bred heifer pen as a favorite. This cow is consistent and she will knock your socks off when you see her. She is massive in body and stoutness. This is a performance cow or she could produce top selling heifer calves. Her dam is 275M and was designated as an Elite Premier Dam in the Canadian Angus Association, having 10 calves and 4 grand calves on record. Joann stated 275M was an eye appealing front pasture cow. 275M was a daughter of Northline Ruby 205F, a cow that U2 selected from Northline in the Red Roundup Sale in Edmonton. In 2014, Las Rojas purchased a low birth sire from U2 that was a maternal grandson of 275M. There is definitely power in the blood in this elite future cornerstone dam that could headline and embryo program. The Big League females are always some of my favorite cattle. 544R is the grand sire of our leading donor, Six Mile Lakota 16W.

Valuable Phenotype and Genetic Power
Two Daughters of U2 Big League 544R LOT 4 382W is another power cow that is super attractive through her neck, shoulder and front end. She’s stout out her hip and has a great hind leg and foot on her. We love the color of this cow, and she looks to have tremendous hair, as most Big League daughters do. Most exciting about 382W is her first daughter 225Y, sired by Mission 61W, that was also on my list at U2. Darren said pick one or the other, but he wasn’t letting both of them go. 225Y also had one of the best 2016 spring calving bred heifers this year. Both 225Y and 382W were really easy to spot and this is a good cow family. 382W sells bred to U2 Unanimous, a bull that is three generation of Anexa cow family. LOT 5 394Y took the three day trip from Canada a bit harder, but we really like this cow for her balance, extended front and stout hip. She should really come on by sale time. She is dark, sound and had a nice udder this summer. She is donor caliber and is only a four year old. Her dam, Mavel 103L, has produced herd bulls to Martin Puch and to McBeans and Habrakens. Lot 5, sells bred to U2 Entourage that sold for $58,000 in the 2015 U2 bull sale to Webers in South Dakota. Entourage is a full brother to U2 Reckoning 149A. Reckoning is the sire of four feature heifer calves in this sale offering.

This cow was selected for her extension and powerful hip and bone. She is more moderate, but very well designed and has a nice udder. She is great colored and is donor caliber for any leading herd. Here’s a great designed, super long fronted cow that has lots of power. She is a proven consistent producer and I think she will breed well to many American sires. The daughters of Big League are great property and good females and you can’t get Big League semen in the US. Her mating to the $60,000 Rolls Royce could pay quick return. Rolls Royce is a correct eye appealing moderate framed bull that has tremendous body and thickness. He is a new junior herd sire at U2 Ranch.

Many of the Ambush cattle have caught my eye at U2. They are stout and have lots of quality and design. This good cow will catch your attention. She will be a valuable addition to a purebred program or she would work great to many other breeds as a foundation cow. She has a great udder with lots of bone and foot. You will be hard pressed to find purebred Angus of any color with this kind of substance. The body and power in these cattle is unmatched. They are efficient and high performing and are the easiest keeping of any genetics that I have been around. 148X produced a herd bull that sold to Hicken Ranches, a daughter is at work in the U2 herd.
Three Daughters of Wild Card 896S sell, and one daughter of a son, Wild Thing. I have always been impressed with the 896S daughters. One of his most noted daughters is U2 Moonbeam 194W, the dam of Moonbeam 243Z that was the2013 Denver Calf Champion, that is now a donor dam for Double A Cattle Co in MO. The Wild Card 896S daughters are some of the most eye appealing, longest fronted Red Angus that I have found and they have the power, do-ability and muscle shape to match. Lot 9 is extremely long necked and has a big deep stifle. This cow was one of my favorite selections when leaving the ranch. Sadly, she had a great heifer calf, that was injured when coming in from pastures. Her AI service sire, Bottoms Up, by Mamma’s Boy, is a full brother to U2 Money Honey that won her class in Denver and sold to Wildcat for $22,000.

LOT 10 HER DAUGHTER SELLS AS LOT 32. Her daughter, 74C, sired by U2 Reckoning, sells as Lot 32 and was possibly, what I thought, was the stoutest heifer calf of our selections this summer. 12X is an attention getter with her look and style. She is up headed, long necked and super stout. She is good colored and very sound made. The Dynamo line of cattle and sons of Dynamo 67K, especially 7021T, have always been prevalent in the successful pedigrees at U2. This cow has produced three U2 sale bulls at five years of age. Her maternal brother, sold last year for $16,000 to Smith Farms in Nebraska. This is a cow that will generate highly marketable seedstock and show prospects. LOT 11 261W is one of the darkest red females in the offering and is darker than this picture shows. She has the balance and eye appeal you are looking for. This offering of U2 genetics are all super stout, have lots of capacity, and are large footed, some of the things that originally impressed us most about the Canadian cattle. 261W produced a herd sire at work at Harty Ranch in Alberta. She sells bred to U2 Unanimous, a bull that is three generations of Anexa cow family.

HER DAUGHTER SELLS AS LOT 21. 2U has a great past history and has now produced two daughters that have sold here at Las Rojas. She has a daughter, by Reckoning selling as Lot 21 (312C) and another daughter, 188Z, was purchased by us in 2012 and is now in the Rusty McCarthy program in Texas. 2U is a cow that Darren and Joann like a great deal. Her dam is sired by U2 Wanted, a bull that continues to appear in many of the Canadian cattle that we select. Wanted goes back on the dams side to the U2 foundation cow ANEXA 09E and 90T. Her mating to Rolls Royce will have great opportunity and be a rare find in the US. A proven producer of two heifer calves in our program, this is a no miss cow.
I don’t think you can go wrong with a Wild Card x Big League daughter. These are two bulls, that have had a large impact on the program here. I spotted 46X because of her look, style and length of neck. In addition, she still has that Big League and stoutness. 46X is a young five year old and produced a top selling bull in a past U2 bull sale selling to the Jenner Colony in Alberta. These cows were pictured right after a being imported on a three day trip and the calves were weaned just the first of August.
This really good looking cow is a daughter of Wild Thing, one of the most noted sons of 896S. This cow was easy to spot in the summer pastures and we think she has a lot of potential as a show heifer producer. She too is stacked with Big League on the bottom side. She is darker than her picture allows. We love the big square hip and huge foot she has. She would breed well to many leading Simmental, Charolais, Limousin or Maine sires in a foundation program. Her mating to U2 Reckoning 149A could easily pay for her purchase price next fall.
Mission Statement P27 was the sire of U2 Mission 61W that produced our 2nd high seller in last years sale, SFRI Count Me In 419B, and our 2013 NWSS Calf Champion Heifer, U2 Moonbeam 243Z. 61W also produced Rojas On A Mission for the Tweedy family of Arkansas that was Reserve Calf Champion in Denver and Champion at the Dixie National. Here’s a cow with a powerful hip and attractive profile. She has a nice EPD tabulation. We like the quality and kind of this female, very correct and feminine. She sells bred to Wildman Super Duty 426B a son of Red Jensen Sky 611X.

U2 Shiver 318Z is out of Northline Shiver 305P, one of the most successful Northline cow families and a female that was selected by U2 during her successful show career. We selected 318Z and half interest in her dam, 305P, in 2012 at U2. Shiver 318Z went on to win her class in Denver that year and was purchased by the Shuey family who took her on to win Champion Red Angus at the competitive Iowa Beef Expo. This daughter of Lazy MC Cowboy Cut is made right! She is balanced, smooth shouldered and has a great hip and top. She is great colored and was exceptionally hairy when we showed her at Denver in 2013. She is donor caliber and should be an excellent candidate for show heifer production with her cow family on the bottom side.
Joan 0142 is a daughter of the National Western Grand Champion Bull, SVR Gangster. 0142 has proven herself as a top donor in the Shuey herd. One of her first daughters was the top selling female at the National Sale at Fort Worth and then went on to be the Champion Cow Calf Pair at the Iowa State Fair for Summit Farms Red Angus. Three of her first daughters selling at auction have averaged near $7000 for Shueys. This young donor stamps her progeny with lots of look and length of neck. Her dam is a Pieper bred granddaughter of Cherokee Canyon. There are lots of maternal traits on this females bottom side. Piepers are known for one of the best cowherds in the country, with strong maternal traits.

They were long fronted, wide based cattle, with lots of body and rib. The dam of Lot 18 is a direct daughter of Cole MISTER E, another bull that was prevalent in the Pieper herd and sired many successful champions. This cow is one of the stoutest to come from the Shuey program in some time. She is extra powerful with lots of body and muscle shape. She was bred and raised in the Shuey program. Her dam, Reba 467P was a cornerstone dam for that outfit. The Shuey program produced the 2015 NAILE Champion Female. This cow sells bred to Spur Ranch herd sire Mystery Man.

Allison 2782 had a flush mate that was undefeated in her division in 2013. Her sire is PIE Code Red that originally sold to the Shuey family and their syndicate for $76,000. Following his death at age three, he has sired some of the top females in the breed. The Shuey female that was named Champion last year at NAILE was a daughter of Code Red and Code Red daughters produced four bull calves last year at Piepers averaging $54,000. One of those was PIE One of a Kind, purchased by Duff Cattle Co in Hobart, OK. Here’s a real donor dam and one with tremendous tabulation and pedigree. She sells bred to Brown Paramount, the $17,000 Shuey herd sire from Browns in Texas.

Powerful Pedigree - Incredible Phenotype
Two Powerful Daughters of U2 Reckoning 149A Their Dams Sell as Lot 2 and Lot 12
LOT 20 HER DAM SELLS AS LOT 2. I never know where to start in these heifer calves, and the fact that 351C is a new pedigree, leading off a powerful set of Reckoning daughters, it seems only fitting to begin here. Reckoning was the “buzz bull” in 2014 at U2’s bull sale, and was purchased by Six Mile Red Angus. Look for his calves at Six Mile as well. These cattle are some of the stoutest cattle of any breed that I have seen. They are exceptional in their color and have lots of hair. This heifer is extra special, she combines a large outline with a smooth shoulder and attractive profile. She is incredible in the amount of bone and foot that she has. This heifer will be extra hairy and super dark come January. HER DAM sells as Lot 2, making this an opportunity, to buy into a cow family that will be highly marketable. The genetics on the bottom side of this pedigree, are cattle that, from their pictures, led me to U2 in the first place, including Illicit and Icon. U2 Ranch would like to retain the right to half of one successful flush (at least four embryos total) at the new owners convenience. LOT 21 HER DAM SELLS AS LOT 12 (2U) Look for this heifer on the video list. Just like Lot 20, she is dark cherry red and extra hairy. She has a great deal of show potential, and was under the weather on photo week. She is a maternal sister to another top heifer that was selected from U2 in 2012 and is now in Rusty McCarthy’s Omega 8 herd in Texas. This heifer will show or make a great addition to any herd. You won’t find many registered Red Angus with this kind of power and substance anywhere. She is donor caliber and will show great.

LOT 22 I saw a special heifer calf this spring in the pastures at Bar E-L and surprisingly she was a maternal sister to Blairs Reserve Division Champion Heifer last January in Denver. The Kassie cow family at Longshore’s, is one that they are quick to point out. ANOTHER exceptional Bar-E-L heifer from the KASSIE cow family sells as Lot 26, sired by Magic Mike. Lot 22 is a granddaughter of Six Mile Sakic. She goes back to lots of good and successful genetics on her dam’s side that sired many champions. Her sire, Forward Motion 4A is at work in the Bar-E-L herd in Canada. Bar E-L is known for some of Canada’s best Black and Red Angus cattle, they raised and showed the Champion Red Female at Agribition in 2013. The Kassie family will be an important part of our future embryo program. We are really excited about the prospects in this heifer calf. She is a huge boned, powerful hipped heifer that has loads of performance. She should look extra stout in the Early Spring Calf Division in Denver. To have this much power and still this kind of eye appeal and front is hard to come by. She is good colored and looks to be coming with lots of hair. She will also make a valuable center piece to any herd or program.

LOT 23 In June, I visited Polzin Cattle Co in Minnesota and found a flush of heifer calves sired by Webers and TC’s Card Shark, out of Polzin’s Cita cow that as described by many is a “no miss” female. Most importantly to us, CITA is the mother of PZC TMAS Firestorm, a bull that has done a great job here and will continue to be prevalent in our coming calf crops. Cita is a Citation out of a King Rob daughter from the Lana Family at Whitestone and Trowbridge. These two sisters out of Card Shark, Lots 23 and 24, are exciting and hard to fault. Take your pick, both heifers are of major caliber and will be a big force this winter. They are thick, big bodied and long necked. They will no doubt have big time show careers, but their value as donor dams is unprecedented as well. Card Shark comes from the good Jesse Weber herd in Lake Benton, MN. He was the Reserve Grand Bull at the 2012 National Western and has recently sired many successful cattle.

Lot 25 - PZC 5130 LOT 24 A full sister to Lot 23, this heifer will be one of the great prospects going into fall. She is a major Denver contender and is simply hard to fault. Her pedigree is proven and without question. Take a long hard look at this heifer from a show and breeding standpoint. This could be CITA’s greatest and most decorated daughter yet. Here’s a big timer! LOT 25 Polzins mated Cita to Man Among Boys and the results have been outstanding. A full sister to ROCKIN’ RED was the champion commercial heifer at the Iowa State Fair this year. Lot 25 is a sweetheart of a heifer and would make a great choice for any youngster. She will be a tough competitor in the cross bred divisions or will be eligible for the Foundation show at the 2016 Jr. National in Illinois. She registers with the ARA as a Category 3 female. Lots of hair and style! She should make a great club calf donor with a dam like CITA behind her. Three IVF female embryos that are full sibs to this heifer sell as LOT 54B.

LOT 27 One of my favorites at Bar E-L, from a future donor stand point is 133C. Her dam, 175T, is powerful and this heifer calf is tremendous through her stifle, hip and has tons of rib. The Approval daughters are some of the best I’ve seen in Canada and Approval can be found in the pedigrees of many good cattle. Her sire, 46A, was the lead off and high selling bull at Bar-E-L in 2014 for $20,000. LOT 28 In 2014, we tried to move Mamma’s Boy to the states, to market his semen here. He became hurt and U2 lost him last season. Mamma’s Boy daughters have always been quick to stand out in the pastures at U2. We are really excited to see the progeny out of his daughters in the coming years. He has generated a Denver class winner for us and a donor dam that we have in Canada, U2 Beauty 113Z. Mammas Boy sires lots of look, style and added muscle shape. This heifer calf is extra special. She has a show career ahead of her, but as a future donor she may have as much potential. She is exceptional in her soundness, feet and legs. She is nice fronted and good profiled. She is extra gentle and will make an excellent project for the youngest junior. 416C is a powerhouse when it comes to body depth and thickness. She is moderate in her frame and should make a super impressive young cow. She will mate well to many of the leading American sires. There is no Mamma’s Boy 167X semen in the US and his semen is not importable. Pay close attention here. We really like this heifer and she will look like a bargain a few short years down the road. This heifer would make a perfect addition to a program seeking foundation genetics or to breed to many club calf producing sires. She will be fun to show.

Virginia 209C
LOT 29 In April, when I visited U2, 209C was my pick of the heifer calves. Her dam is a two year old daughter of Mission 61W, the sire of Safari’s 2015 Denver Calf Champion for the Davis Family. U2 Mission 61W’s semen commanded over $180/unit at the Western Heritage Sale in Denver last year. His daughters are exceptional and the cross with Mamma’s Boy has worked great. This heifer calf is hard to fault and she combines a great deal of muscle shape and power with a long chiseled front end. She is very balanced from the side and ideal in her structure and movement. She should hair up by sale time. We slick sheared the Canadian heifer calves on the 13th of August, less than a month prior to their departure to the states. If they come south, with that mountain hair, it is impossible to hold through January, so we get a fresh start, and in the end, we have really good hair by Denver time. You could still see slick shear marks in some of these heifers while pictures were being taken. 209C is a major contender and one that has Denver potential. This female is hard to fault and I can’t say enough about the quality of genetics on both sides of her pedigree.

LOT 30 When I picked out the heifer calves at U2, this heifer kept getting in my eye. She was so stout and so big bodied and had tremendous bone and a big black foot. She was the darkest red heifer in the pasture. 119C is not a big time show heifer. Her power comes with a little more neck and so consequently, she will need mated as so, but you wont find a stouter heifer calf in the bunch and her color is worth a lot. This is a foundation dam for any program. There are few purebreds of this nature, in any breed. Her pedigree is unique. Her sire is Recon, the sire of U2 Reckoning 149A. Recon is sired by Mission 61W that needs no introduction. 119C is double bred Mission Statement P27, that appears twice in her fourth generation. Here’s a donor dam in the making.

Lot 33 - Rojas 5031 Six Mile Lakota 112Y, the 2013 Reserve National Champion Female will be a leading donor dam for our program in the coming years. As a three year, old she produced one natural calf, Navajo Made that won a class in Denver and was Reserve in the Jr. Show at Fort Worth. She had one embryo calf born that same year that was Reserve Calf Champion at Denver and won the Dixie National. Both heifers were from different sires. This year she produced calves by Lazy MC sires Cowboy Cut and Smash and one by Leachman King Rob. Every heifer calf, except one, is featured in this sale. Her dam is 16W, that by five years of age produced 112Y and two Denver Calf Champions all by different sires. LOT 33 is a long fronted, dark and hairy heifer that is correct and has lots of show potential. All of the 112Y daughters should really impress by sale time. She is extra sound and moves great. She has a great show career ahead of her. LOT 34 is extra special, this is a big bodied, thick made heifer that is smooth fronted and cool made. She has tremendous hair. This heifer will enjoy a good show season and this is a leading donor dam in the making. Any daughter out of 112Y is hard to part with. We could build a herd with these females. A daughter of Smash recently topped the Wildcat dispersion. These cattle have an unmatched look and eye appeal with big square hips. This heifer will look great as a bred next year.

She has a lot of style and look. This one will only improve and make a great donor dam too. She could be extra special as a bred next year. She is great colored and good haired, she just needs a little more time and care. LOT 36 Lot 36 has been an early favorite as well. She is choke necked and has lots of look with tremendous body and rib shape. She will show and be very competitive. She is not as dark as her sisters but she should be really hairy come January. Moves good, very sound and complete. LOT 37 5046 is a full sister to Navajo Made shown by Colton Barton, that was a class winner in Denver and Reserve Champion heifer at Fort Worth. Lot 37 is a May born heifer that didn’t get to the barn on time. She is super stout and will make a show heifer or powerful addition to any herd. This heifer could be a real sleeper. Look for her on the videos. These heifers will show great, but from a breeding standpoint they are extra valuable!

Daughter of Leachman King Rob out of 112Y LOT 38 Selling One Half Embryo Interest Only and No Possession Sired by the long deceased, 1990 born, Leachman King Rob, one of the most widely used sires in the breed known for great females. Leachman King Rob is notably, the maternal grand sire of CT CITA 4060, whose family came out of the Whitestone program. Lot 38 ranks in at least the top 20% of the breed for all traits across the board. I hate to part with any of the daughters of 112Y, as they will be consistent producing herd builders. I elected to hang onto one half of 5039, as I remember being so impressed by a King Rob daughter of Whitestones, back in the 90’s at Louisville. This heifer calf is really green and she is jumping through hoops every day as it begins to cool off. She is perfect colored and has that 112Y hair. She is simply hard to fault. She’s not the stoutest yet, but she is deep flanked and has a great turn to her rib. She has Denver potential. The new partner will have the option to one IVF cycle in the spring of 2016, of which the first six embryos will be the new owners. If no IVF is performed, the new owner will get the first 10 embryos of production in ET in the spring of 2017. LOT 39 Here’s another heifer calf that continues to really turn a corner. She had a 106 temp on photo day and the heat has really took its toll. I think a junior should pay attention here. This heifer is super long necked and designed perfect. She has the body and the correctness to place her at the top of the show prospects in this offering. She could be the real sleeper, and I am certain by sale time she won’t need any more excuses. Her cow family adds even more value to her potential. Her dam is Rainbow Lois 13Z, a daughter of Geis Lois 166R. 13Z is a maternal sister to Rainbow Lois 7U, that was recently a top selling cow to Smoky Y in Kansas, out of the Wildcat Dispersal. 7U and 13Z were both high sellers out of the Canadian Red Round Up sale at Edmonton, Alberta. In the winter of 2014, Double A Cattle Co.-Dennis Alt purchased two leading donors from us and a set of replacement heifer calves. One of those donors was Louis 13Z, better known as “Rainbow-Daisy.” 166R is still in our donor herd and resides at Rainbow Red Angus in the far northern part of Alberta. They have been great to work with on this cow family and we appreciate their support. We will continue with the Lois family in our donor program.
