like some of the other walls, the tongue and groove design is to cover up surfaces that are either bland or have essential components such as plumbing works or electrical fittings. It also adds a nice effect and texture to the whole washroom&W/C areas
Timber stud is drilled and sealed into the existing beams
There is a small pin that is attached to the sealed stud and an electronic coil that winds the wire of the light round this pin to lift or drop the lights to a variety of heights

having the lights levitated means better lighting, and by having the lighting adjustable from ground level means that bulbs and repairs can be made much more easily
i originally had this idea early on in my design ideas stage and have kept with the actual shape and styling of the stair but worked more on the actual construction and how i can create a nice transition from one floor to another
after consulting a few possible solutions, I felt that this stair would suit my environment as it should be a main decorative feature of the room as shown in my plans and sections of the stair, i will be incorporating LED lighting to illuminate my stair in a soft glow so that i am not cluttering the space with pointless decor when i can have one main piece which will also help light up my ground floor space.
The ball lights are dangled around the top floor as shown on the FF-Plan. they will be dangled and work on an electronic pulley that can adjust the height of the ball lights to create a fantastic display using illumination and gradient

as seen in plan, the main drinks bar sits inside the 'C' shape created by the stair. The bar measures 1500mm which is enough space for a stool and a customer to be served at
as well as my alternating height lights, ive left space for the building to have specialist tech lighting installed if it should need it such as a spotlight or colour lighting for stage effects. However it should remain without as i feel it will only be staging small events that will not need such technical lighting at least.

bar surface is 600mm in width and 40mm thick which works out at about ÂŁ200 for a 1500x600x40mm granite work top from manufacture

in three dimensional form this is how my stair will look if it were to be constructed in real terms. it is all about the change in direction in a short space that makes this stair interesting
as shown in my plans and sections, my initial ideas also showed that i would be creating my own partitions and railings and also reincorporating with existing walls and partitions

this shows how much space there physically is and there is enough for a good 6-8 people to sit and stand comfortably within this TV area
The lower partition and upper partition for the backstage are very similar in structure therefor plasterboard, timber studs and mechanical joints/screws & bolts will be used to ensure a partition wall is created to building standards
downstairs unisex wash-room and W/C's. for more dimensions and explanation refer to fig 4

Project: the beauty of this stair being illuminated and have opaque glass is that peoples movement ascending and descending will create an effect in itself which will add to the feel of the ground floor
making use of the minimal light that is viewed from outside the window on the bottom floor
since this venue will only cater for a max of 30-40 people, then having four W/C's is an appropriate amount without dominating the whole of the ground floor
keeping in with the music theme of 'The Lounge' I will have bricked walls and guitars of the walls and a variety of musical instruments to create a vibe
