A sneak peak of updated renderings will give you a preview of how our College environment continues to change in a positive way. New Online Application/Customer Relationship Management System (CRM) Demo The College has embarked on a number of information technology transformations to support strategic enrollment management and gain increased efficiencies. Retention and attrition is paramount in the enrollment management cycle. Our college ranks 11th among colleges in the SC Tech System. KEYNOTE ADDRESS Opening Session Location: Barnes Theater Dr. Jeremy Lord Enrollment Management Consultant Speaker Bio Dr. Jeremy Lord has been a consultant in enrollment management for over 35 years and has served over 250 colleges and universities across North America, in Europe and Asia. He has worked in educational administration, having served institutions of higher education in several capacities including those of Admissions Counselor, Director of Admissions, Director of Development, Vice President, and Consultant. He has worked closely and successfully with colleges of just about every classification to advance their missions through enrollment growth. Dr. Lord is retired, formerly Chairman of Paskill, Stapleton, and Lord, Inc., and continues to work with mission-­‐driven institutions challenged to thrive in uncertain times.

She is committed to coaching methodologies that promote access, opportunity, and innovation. Speaker Bios Mr. Mike McClain Mike McClain spent 12 years in the Advanced Manufacturing Industry working for companies such as Champion Laboratory, Okuma Corporation, and Siemens Power Generation Corporation. The position I held in industry were a tool maker, programmer, manufacturing specialist, production planner and industrial trainer. Mike has spent 15 years working in the technical education systems serving as department chair, instructor, and curriculum developer. He has worked for credit and non-­‐credit programs at York Technical College and Spartanburg Community College as well as readySC. Mike is also the vice chairman of Advanced Manufacturing and Technical Resources Consortium (AMTRC).

Dr. Mary Beth Schwartz Dr. Schwartz serves as the College’s Director for Institutional Effectiveness and Research. She has over 18 years’ experience in institutional research, and an extensive background in program evaluation, assessment, and research in higher education. Prior to coming to York Technical College, Mary Beth spent four years working in Washington D.C. as a Program Evaluator with the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO). She holds a B.A. from Antioch College, an M.P.A. from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina. Mr. Wesley Spinks Wesley Spinks was raised in central West Virginia where he received his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education in 2006 from Glenville State College. He moved to the Charlotte area during the summer of 2006 and earned his master’s degree in Mathematics Education in 2010 from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Mr. Spinks began his teaching career in August 2006 at Forestview High School in Gastonia, NC. After four years at the high school level and earning his master’s degree he began teaching at York Technical College in August 2010. He has served as department chair of the mathematics department since August 2013. Mr. Spinks married his high school sweetheart Amanda and they reside in Charlotte with their daughter Kyndal.

Speaker Bio Dr. Monique Perry Dr. Perry serves as the College’s Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing leading a team responsible for college-­‐wide communication, general and enrollment marketing, media relations, digital media/web, and brand management in support of the College’s mission. A member of the York Tech family since 2010, Dr. Perry previously served as a faculty member in the English department teaching Public Speaking, and strongly believes in the core mission of open access that technical/community colleges represent. Prior to transitioning to a career in higher education, Dr. Perry spent almost a decade in a variety of communication and marketing leadership roles within the private sector such as Executive Speechwriter, Corporate Communications Manager, and Strategic Advisor/Chief of Staff. On the educational front, Dr. Perry earned a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. She also pursued graduate studies at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey earning a Master of Arts in Strategic Communication and Leadership. At the undergraduate level, she earned Bachelor of Arts in English/Mass Communications with a minor in Political Science from North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina. She has a college-­‐aged son Terrence, who has taken classes at York Tech prior to his freshman year at North Carolina A&T State University.

Speaker Bios Mr. Jared Smith Mr. Jared Smith received a B.S. in Biochemistry, a B.S. in Molecular Biology and a B.A. in Chemistry from the College of Charleston. Smith worked for a major retail chain after graduating from the College of Charleston and won the “Coach of the Year” award for outstanding people development. He spent three years as a full-­‐time employee with the company (2005 -­‐ 2007). Smith also earned “Top Manager Trainer” honors in 2007 for recruiting and development. Smith decided to get into education and complete his first Master’s degree while working as a full-­‐time high school teacher. After completing his first Masters he joined York Technical College as a Science Instructor. He received his M.S in Biochemistry from Saint Joseph College, an M.S. in Biology from the University of Saint Joseph and is currently completing an M.S. in Kinesiology through the University of Texas, Permian Basin.

Mr. Stanley Jackson Mr. Stanley Jackson received a B.S. from Winthrop University in 2004 and a M.A.T from Winthrop University in 2008. He served Winthrop University in many professional roles from 2004 to 2011. These positions consisted of Assistant Director for Student Activities, Program Director for Fraternity & Sorority Affairs, Leadership Instructor (Emerging Leaders and Theory), and Freshman Seminar Instructor. In 2011 Jackson transitioned to Wells Fargo where he drafted and trained contracted attorneys, employees, and management on Wells Fargo court representation for bankruptcy, mortgage, and default processing according to OCC regulations. Jackson recently transitioned to Family Trust Federal Credit Union where he manages training and development focusing on education, development, and organizational culture. He has a wife and 2 daughters (3 years old and 5 months old).

Speaker Bios Ms. Susan Clark Susan Clark is the Community Outreach Coordinator at York Technical College. Many of her efforts are focused toward targeting the parent population to disseminate information that their students can take advantage of at York Tech. Clark graduated from Winthrop University with a Bachelor’s degree in mass communications. Her past experience consists of work in the news media industry. Clark is a Beaufort, S.C. native. Ms. Chrysten Crockett Chrysten Crockett is an Ohio native who relocated to Charlotte, NC after completing her Masters in Public Relations at Syracuse University. Before her time at Syracuse she spent her undergraduate career working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism. Since November 2013, Crockett has been working to coordinate the college’s internal and external marketing

efforts in her position as the Marketing Coordinator. Her past experience consists of public relations and marketing work for non-­‐profits, universities and public relations firms. Mr. James Thomas James Thomas was a software developer in the private sector for 20+ years before completing his Master’s Degree while working in the higher education sector as the Director of Information Technology at the Graduate School at UNC Charlotte. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from Western Carolina University and a Master’s Degree in Information Technology with a concentration in Information Security and Privacy from UNC Charlotte. He has also completed post-­‐baccalaureate studies in Advanced Databases and Knowledge Discovery and Project Management. He has been at York Technical College since October 1, 2012 where he serves as the Chair of the Information Technology Department.

Michael serves as the Division Office Manager for Business, Computers, Arts & Science and currently teaches College Orientation 101. Michael actively participates on numerous campus-­‐wide committees. Along with Sherina Dubose-­‐Tillman, Veterans Services Coordinator and Chris Cimino, Department Manager for Career Services, he helped develop professional training for Student Veterans. During Michael’s military career, he received numerous Awards and Medals including the Navy Achievement Medal, Marine of the Year, and Recruiter of the Year. He served on several Presidential Inaugurations as well as the Department of Defense “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell”

committee. An important aspect of his life is family which includes his mother, three sisters, and six nephews. Michael earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Winthrop University. Ms. Lydia Hall-­‐Moore Lydia Moore brings strategic focus, vision, and mature judgment enlarged during a successful career thriving in the field of education. She has 21 years of experience in secondary and higher education. As an Enrollment Services Counselor, she has expertise in college admissions. Over the last three years she has worked with the high school seniors, adults, business/industry, and veterans. Lydia has spent her professional career helping others find their passion and purpose in attaining educational and career goals. Her varied career experience includes recruiting; personal and career counseling; program development, management and delivery; project development and management; and the management of multi-­‐functional work teams. Lydia has a M.A. degree in Counseling and a B.S. degree in Business Administration. She maintains certification as a Global Career Development Facilitator and Human Services Board Certified Practitioner. Mr. Kurt Muellner Kurt Muellner graduated from the University Of Wisconsin –Stevens Point with a bachelor’s degree in Communicative Disorders and a master’s degree in Communication in addition to graduate study in Audiology. Kurt’s graduate degree focus was in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication, which primarily relates how people communicate effectively within various relationships and at work. His Communication research focus was on Humorous Teaching Techniques used by University professors and how those techniques impacted student learning. Kurt taught Speech Communication at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, Edison State College in Fort Myers, FL, Winthrop University, and now York Tech. Ms. Teresa Smith Teresa Smith has worked at York Technical College for 21 years, serving as a work-­‐study student, administrative assistant in Corporate and Continuing Education, and her current position as the Office Manager of the Health and Human Services Division. With the help of the professional development program here at YTC, Teresa earned an Associate of Arts degree, Bachelor of Science/Management and a Master of Business Administration degree. Teresa says that, without the help and support of her College family both emotionally and financially she would never have been able to achieve her educational goals. As she has furthered her education she now serves as an adjunct instructor for the BCAS division in the AOT/Business Departments as well as taking on additional leadership roles. Teresa is proud to work at YTC and see first-­‐hand the difference and positive contributions this institution has made to the community.

Mr. Bobby Plair Bobby Plair worked as a Trio counselor and advisor at York Tech for twenty-­‐two years. He holds B.M.E and M.Ed. degrees from Winthrop University, and serves on various boards in the community. Bobby is a recipient of prestigious volunteer awards from The Arts council of York County and The Come See Me Festival. He has worked in retail as well as businesses owned by his family where he learned the basics of great customer service. He carried these basic principles into the entertainment world where he has shared the stage with such acts as The Commodores (featuring Lionel Richie), The Chairman Of The Board, The Ellington Orchestra, Kool and The Gang and many others. Ms. Paige Roberts Paige Roberts has worked at York Tech for 10 years in both WIA and Admissions. She has a B.A. degree in Psychology from USC and maintains certification as a Global Career Development Facilitator. In her current role as Enrollment Services Counselor, she is responsible for recruiting students from Fort Mill, Lancaster, Nation Ford, South Pointe, and other in-­‐state high schools. While working with WIA she was nominated for One Stop Employee of the Year for her service area. You will see Paige’s face featured in several YTC recruiting publications. She was chosen for her welcoming attitude and bright smile. She has two daughters, Natalie (12) and Jillian (9) who are active in competitive dance, which keeps Paige very busy! Dr. Shannon Godwin Shannon Godwin is the Instructional Developer at York Technical College. Dr. Godwin’s education specialization is in Training and Performance Improvement. She is a South Carolina certified teacher, a Certified Professional Coach, and a certified Emotional Intelligence Coach. Dr. Godwin’s varied background in business and education provides the basis of her dedication to education, facilitation, coaching, and performance improvement. She believes in the value of a learning community sharing a collective set of experiential knowledge. Her philosophy is to meet learners where they are and to inspire critical thinking.
