GOING
The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me — to tell people the Good News about God’s grace. (Acts 20:24 – New Century Version)
It is the responsibility of every Christian to share the Good News with those around us. In fact, it is your life mission to tell everyone about Jesus.
God put you on Earth for a purpose. He has a mission that only you can fulfill. You know Christ because somebody told you about him.
Now, who are you going to tell? You can impact someone’s eternal destiny. You have the opportunity to help someone find Jesus.
One of the most important questions in life is this: WILL ANYONE BE IN HEAVEN BECAUSE OF YOU?
GOING = EVANGELISM GOING = SHARING THE GOOD NEWS
IN THE NEW TESTAMENT, THIS HAPPENS IN TWO WAYS:
Go & tell
Come & see
Jesus said to his followers, “Go everywhere in the world, and tell the Good News to everyone.”
(Mark 16:15 – New Century Version)
Two men heard what he said and followed Jesus. Then Jesus turned round and when he saw them following him, spoke to them. “What do you want? he said.
“Master, may we remain at Your side today? Where are you staying?” they replied. He answered, “Come and see.”
So the two men went with Jesus and saw where he was staying and stayed there with him that day. One of the two men who followed Jesus that day was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.
The first thing Andrew did was to go find his brother Simon and say to him, “We have found the Messiah. . . . The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him,
“Follow me.” Philip was from the town of Bethsaida, where Andrew and Peter lived. Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the man that Moses wrote about in the law,
and the prophets also wrote about him. He is Jesus, the son of Joseph, from Nazareth. But Nathanael said to Philip,
“Can anything good come from Nazareth?” Philip answered, “Come and see.”
(John 1:38-41, 44-48 – New Century Version)
GOING = EVANGELISM GOING = SHARING THE GOOD NEWS
THERE ARE THREE WAYS WE ARE CALLED TO DO THIS

WE SHARE THE GOOD NEWS BY LIVING AS AN EXAMPLE
Be wise in the way you act toward those who are outside the Christian faith. Make the most of your opportunities.
(Colossians 4:5 – God’s Word Translation)
“You are the light of the world— like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.
In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
(Matthew 5:14-16 –New Living Translation)
You are living with evil people all around you, who have lost their sense of what is right. Among those people your lives are to shine like lights in a dark world. (Philippians 2:15 – Easy To Read Version)
THE BIG QUESTION:
Is your life attracting people to Christ or pushing them away from Him?
WE SHARE THE GOOD NEWS BY GIVING AN EXPLANATION
But dedicate your lives to Christ as Lord. Always be ready to defend your confidence [in God] when anyone asks you to explain it. However, make your defense with gentleness and respect. (1 Peter 3:15 – God’s Word Translation)
Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not.
Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching . . . But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord.
Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you. (2 Timothy 4:2, 4-5 – New Living Translation)
THE BIG QUESTION:
Are you prepared to tell other people about Jesus and explain the Gospel?
WE SHARE THE GOOD NEWS BY EXTENDING AN INVITATION
They arrived in Caesarea the following day, and Cornelius was waiting for him and had invited all of his relatives and close friends to meet Peter. (Acts 10:24 – Living Bible)
As he was walking up the beach he saw Levi (also called Matthew), sitting at his tax collection booth. “Come with me,” Jesus told him. “Come be my disciple.”
And Levi jumped to his feet and went along. That night Levi invited his fellow tax collectors and many other notorious sinners to be his dinner guests so that they could meet Jesus and his disciples.
(There were many men of this type among the crowds that followed him.) (Mark 2:14-14 – Living Bible)
THE BIG QUESTION:
Are you consistently inviting the people in your life to hear about Jesus?
Let’s Pray
