Wetland Park along River Pi Jintang

River Pi, located in Chengdu, used be a canal. Rignt now, it mainly serve as the source of the irrigation for the farmland along sides of the river. Also, it provides the drinking water for surrouding villages and flood discharge for adjacent rivers .

Site is in the gap between inner city with country, which give the advantage to build a wetland envoirnment without distraction. Meanwhile, a wetland park along the river,can bring more Tourism opportunity for the rural town, improving its economy.

The existing landform is the gentle, and south of the site is slightly higher the north. Considering the pollution from surrouding area, setting up the bio-swales for rainwater purification is valuable.

The water of the area flow slowly, quantity and sediment is limited, has no ice period, the water level in minor changes. WIth multiple varied small irrgation canals, changing the river water will benefit both the agriculture and wetland plants.

Open the Super Block

To anwser the Chinese grovernment policy that will not bulid a cummunity with boundary, and gradually open the boudary of exsiting communities in the furture, is the mean purpose of this project. Boundary has many forms, such as fence, wall, door. Especially the wall, which Chinese think highly of (ps: refer to the Great Wall), will be a big problem to remove them mentally and physically. Apart from the emotional obstacle, how the community will be open, how to choose a proper position to open the boundary, how to rebuild the space after the open. 17

At the same time, to build the so called “Image Project” which needs wider path for cars, government always focus on building main lines of the city.

Main Reason for the Traffic Jam - Sharply increase in Automobile - Underdeveloped road system - Insufficient coverage of public transportation - Lack of parking lots - Endless road construction

The "Super Block" is responsible for most of reasons below, holding back the development of city transportation. To relieve the stress on Beijing's traffic, to break the "Super Block" into smaller ones, to create more city landscape for urban space, are the purpose of the this project.

INITIAL IDEA: VISUAL LANDSCAPE 30° 5°

The project is trying to work a distinguish pavement for the commercial street, which could impress people stand on both the ground and the high levels builiding. Intend to find the solution, approaching the idea from different angles, such as patten, color, dynamic, scale of the pavement.

How to determine the pavement, is based on some ergonomics data. Like the rage of people's eyes, and how far and wild they can see clearily. Also, it is important that considering the graphics people will see when they stand on a higher floor. 23

Formed by quantity small triangles and some of them are grass, some of them are tiles, rest are wood bench. The combination become a garden let people relax from the tense work. looking it at high levels will see the pattens made by the path.
