Important Steps to Finalize Your Enrollment at IUPUI Step 1
Step 5
Your letter of admission contains important information about your status at IUPUI. If there are errors, notify us immediately. Specifically note the following information:
If you are applying for need-based financial aid, be sure to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online no later than March 10. Apply online at www.fafsa.gov. IUPUI’s school code is 001813. IUPUI awards aid in the form of grants, loans, and work-study programs. Refer to the Financial Aid section on page 3 or visit www.iupui.edu/~finaid for more information.
Review your letter of admission
• U niversity ID Number – You will use this number to create your student accounts and throughout your studies at IUPUI. • S chool/Division – Indicates the school to which you have been admitted and who will provide your academic advising. • M ajor – Your proposed area of study. Acceptance into a major is selective. If your school is University College, you will usually complete prerequisite courses in your first two semesters to gain admission into the major. • Residency/Tuition – This indicates whether you will pay in-state or out-of-state tuition. You can read more about residency at registrar.iupui.edu/resident.html. • S tarting Term – Your admission is valid only for the term indicated. If you wish to change to a different term, please request a change of term at enroll.iupui.edu/update.
Step 2
Create or upgrade your university accounts
Apply and review your financial aid
Step 6
Schedule placement tests and orientation
Be sure to sign up soon! Orientation is required for all incoming students, and spaces can fill up quickly. Also, before orientation, you must take your placement examinations. More information about scheduling these tests and signing up for orientation is available on the enclosed card. Please note we administer the ACT COMPASS Math Test for placement. Review sample questions at www.act.org/compass/ tests/math.html. You can also schedule to take this exam at many testing centers around the United States, if that is more convenient for you. More information can be found at enroll.iupui.edu/remote. Note: Before you can register for Orientation, you must complete Step 2. Be sure to continually check your new IUPUI email address as it is the way we will contact you with new information.
Step 7
If you have not created your University Network ID, go to onestart.iu.edu and click on the link “Don’t have an account?” From there, you will be able to create your username, password reset questions, and your email account. You can also access many University services, including updating your address, reviewing financial aid, viewing transfer and AP credits, or Dantes, CLEP, and IB results.
Complete the immunization compliance form online
If you have previously created your University Network ID or if you did this for another IU campus, you need to upgrade your account for IUPUI. Go to onestart.iu.edu and log in. On the Self-Service tab in the Personal Info channel, click on the “Manage Accounts” link. Follow the instructions there to upgrade your account.
Attend orientation
If you experience difficulties, contact the IT Help Desk at 317-274-HELP (4357) or ithelp@iu.edu.
Step 3
Pay your enrollment deposit
For new Fall freshmen, IUPUI requires an enrollment deposit of $100 to accept your offer of admission and secure your place in our class. It can be paid at any time, but no later than May 1. Payment can be made at iupui.edu/deposit or by mail. You can also read more about this requirement on that website. All other admitted students are NOT required to submit an enrollment deposit. Whether you decide to accept or decline our offer of admission, please use the information card on the enclosed postcard, or go online to iupui.edu/plans, to share your plans.
Step 4
Review housing/meal plan options
You are not required to live on campus, but many options are available. Visit life. iupui.edu/housing for complete information, costs, and application forms. Apply early if you would like to reserve a spot. Meal plans are available to any student and you will have the choice of many meal plan options. Plans must be purchased by students who reside in University Tower or Ball Hall. www.iupuifood.com
Indiana State Law requires that we have information regarding your immunizations. To complete the necessary form, visit registrar.iupui.edu/meningitis.html.
Step 8
Now you’re ready to take your first step to becoming a Jaguar! Make sure you watch for communications from Orientation Services about what to do after you’ve signed up for an orientation session. Notifications will be sent to your IUPUI email account, which you will be required to set up for orientation. Be sure to check it!
Step 9
Send final high school transcripts
If you were admitted during your senior year, we remind you that high school graduation is mandatory. The Admissions Committee also expects you to complete all the courses you listed on your application and to earn a grade of “C” or better in each class. If these conditions are not met, it is your responsibility to contact our office before you begin at IUPUI. Failure to do so may result in a revocation of your acceptance.
Step 10
Send final college transcripts
If you are enrolled in college (including dual enrollment courses you have completed or will complete) at the time of admission, you must arrange for a final transcript to be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The Admissions Committee expects you to complete all courses listed on your application for admission, leave your former college with a cumulative gpa of 2.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), and be eligible to return. If these conditions are not met, it is your responsibility to contact us before you begin classes. Failure to do so may result in a revocation of your acceptance or administrative withdrawal from your IUPUI courses.
Net Price Calculator
Paying for college is a unique situation for every student’s family. IUPUI provides an online tool that offers customized approximate costs for our education based on your standardized inputs − family size and savings, for example. The calculator estimates your financial aid, subtracts that amount from the cost of attendance here, and returns a “net price,” which is the estimated amount you must pay or borrow to enroll. You can use our Net Price Calculator by going to www.enroll.iupui.edu/npc.
2012-2013 Costs for a Semester at IUPUI These costs are provided for a single semester of study at IUPUI and are for initial planning only. To estimate two full-time semesters of coursework, double the appropriate four- or five-course estimated total. Tuition and fees are reviewed annually by the Indiana University Board of Trustees, set in late spring or summer, and effective for the next full term.

Important Campus Information • Graduation and Retention Rates – You can read more about IUPUI’s graduation and retention rates at www. indiana.edu/~uirr. • IUPUI is committed to a safe educational environment. Campus crime statistics are provided at www.police. iupui.edu/crime-stats.asp. • Indiana State Law requires IUPUI to inform all students of the risks of meningococcal disease, commonly known as meningitis, and the benefits of getting a vaccination. While it is NOT mandatory that students get vaccinated, students must access the Immunization Compliance Form, read the attached information, and acknowledge that they have read and understand the information. Complete this process at registrar.iupui.edu/meningitis.html. • IUPUI is a Tobacco Free environment. The use or sale of any tobacco product—cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, snuff—is prohibited on IUPUI-owned, -operated, or -leased property. The policy is designed to promote good health and is in keeping with the campus’s role as the state’s urban health and life sciences campus. A new state law that went into effect July 1, 2012, states that nearly all public places in Indiana – including university campuses, restaurants, and other workplaces – will be smoke free. The new law makes smoking in all campus facilities or within eight feet of any entrance an illegal and citable offense. • Indiana state law require that IUPUI collect verification of citizenship from every student at the time they initially register for classes. Legislation now stipulates that students who are not lawfully residing in the United States are ineligible for in-state tuition rates and ineligible for scholarships, grants, assistantships, or other aid funded through the university. • All students are strongly encouraged to sign up for the University Notification Service (IU Notify) prior to the start of the semester. This system will allow us to contact you in the event of a campus closing due to a weather or health emergency. Being prepared for such emergencies is essential to keeping our community safe. If there is any threat to the campus community, IUPUI will make decisions about closing based on thorough consultations with county and state officials. In the event that IUPUI closes, the university will communicate through IU Notify, which permits messages to be quickly sent as voice calls to cell, home, and office phones, text messages to cell phones, and emails to university and non-university email accounts. To sign up for emergency communications, visit www.iupui.edu/~prepared/informed/jagalert.html, or follow alerts at twitter.com/jagalert.
Applying for Financial Aid The Office of Student Financial Services awards financial assistance in the form of grants, loans, and work-study programs. In order to be considered for any of these aid programs, you must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have your results reported to IUPUI by listing our school code (001813) on your completed form. The preferred method for filing is to complete your FAFSA online at www.fafsa. ed.gov. You can also obtain a paper FAFSA worksheet from any high school guidance office, public library, or college financial aid office. Enrollment Term at IUPUI

Estimated Tuition and Fee Information for Undergraduate Students Tuition and fees are determined each year in late spring by the Trustees of Indiana University. At the time of printing this booklet, we did not have the final fees for 2013-2014. Consult the Office of the Bursar at www.bursar.iupui.edu for exact costs. Estimates for your first semester are provided on page 2. Tuition at IUPUI is calculated on a per-credit-hour basis. Most courses are three, four, or five credit hours. In addition to credit-hour-based tuition, some courses have special fees for supplies, equipment, or laboratory use. There are also mandatory technology, student activity, and athletic development fees for all students. The recreation fee and locker rental fee are optional. The student parking fee is also optional; however, students must have a valid permit in order to park on campus. Free offsite parking, as well as pay garages and meters, are offered to students as alternatives to buying a permit. Visit www.parking.iupui.edu for more details. The new student enrollment fee (which is different than the enrollment deposit) is a one-time fee assessed during the first term of enrollment for all degree seeking students. IUPUI offers a payment plan called Pay-4 for the fall and spring terms. Tuition and fees will be split into four equal payments, and a $15 service charge is assessed each month a payment plan is active. Read more about it at bursar.iupui.edu/payment_options.htm. Students must pay all tuition and fees no later than the billing due date, which appears on your OneStart account. All billing notifications are sent electronically to your University email address and are also available online at onestart.iu.edu. Students with questions about financial aid are encouraged to contact the Office of Student Financial Services at finaid@iupui.edu or 317-274-4162.
Orientation and Testing: Your Pathway to IUPUI Start off on the right foot at IUPUI. New Student Orientation at IUPUI is mandatory for all incoming students, because it introduces you to the IUPUI community and our many support services. During your orientation session, you will have the opportunity to meet with an academic advisor and to register for your first semester. Prior to orientation, you may be required to complete placement tests in mathematics, chemistry, or a foreign language. The results of these tests may qualify you for course credit and will assist you and your advisor in selecting the appropriate course work for your first semester at IUPUI. Whether this is your first college experience or you are transferring from another university, New Student Orientation exists to ensure you have everything you need for your IUPUI education.
Reserving your orientation date and placement tests is as easy as following these three simple steps:
