Message from Director
What a ‘chorally’ busy summer for Chulalongkorn University!
Since the middle of May this year the audience has seen concerts by Chulalongkorn University Senior Alumni Choirs (CU Silver Voices), Chulalongkorn University Concert Choir, and an eight-day-long Thailand Youth Choral Camp with a culminating concert just past weekend All in one month! We still have Thailand Children’s Choir, Chulalongkorn University Concert Choir’s China tour, and Chulalongkorn University Choral Festival with Jason Max Ferdinand in the lineup in the next weeks.
Amidst our packed choral calendar, today, in collaboration with Thailand Choral Directors Association, we are delighted to host ‘Mini Secondary School Choral Festival’ for two of the best secondary school choirs in Thailand, Chulada Choir of Chulalongkorn University Demonstration Secondary School, and Wattana Girls’ Chorus from Wattana Wittaya Academy, and Loma Linda Academy Pro Musica, our guest from the USA, in their choral and cultural exchanges and tonight’s concert.
Today’s mini festival aims to add to all the singers’ experience in choral singing, and provide a safe space for the young singers to learn from others and broaden their perspectives on the diversity of music, culture, and people. Nothing is more rewarding in our choral profession than seeing young people, who are enthusiastic about the choral art, coming together to make music and friends. Looking at singers’ faces lit up during our choral activities is the best medicine for us, and we work hard
to be the memorable part of their journeys as they build their characters through music.
I would like to extend the warmest welcome to all choirs, their conductors, chaperones, and school administrators, and deepest gratitude to the audience and everyone involved to make choral activities at Chula viable. THANK YOU!
Until next time
Dr. Pawasut Piriyapongrat Director of Choral Activities Chulalongkorn University Chulada Choir ofChulalongkorn University Demonstration Secondary School
