pedestrian streets in the city. The project consists of three stories of retail space at the base with 14 stories of office

restaurants, fountains, and public seating in a district with almost no public amenities. The roof has a circular conference room overlooking the roof garden and the city beyond. The interior and public spaces reinforce the architectural concept through the consistent and rhythmic use of materials and geometric patterns, creating a texture and pattern that weaves throughout the building.

Crescent Pavilion The Beck Group

Design Narrative

Location Texas, USA

Built on a leftover corner of the Crescent Development in Dallas, the 2,900 SF pavilion was designed to activate the

Site area 11,917m2

existing grove of trees creating a public space that serves as a mini park. Facing the park, the glass pavilion is

transparent and dissolves the barrier between the inside and out. Under the trees a floating canopy adds shade by

and detailing attempt to blur the line between the park and dining room bringing the outside in.

Structure Steel

This project involved building an intricate structure and finish out in a very confined space, packing a lot of features

downtown Dallas. Through the use of high efficiency plumbing fixtures, the project reduced water use by 27%.

reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with single occupancy vehicles The owner purchased renewable energy certificates to offset air pollution associated with traditional fossil fuel energy sources and encourage the use of renewable energy generation. Energy reduction was achieved with high efficiency LED lighting and hvac systems. Light Power Density (LPD) was reduced by 69%. Passive design strategies included deep overhangs and high performance glass.
