PRIMARY MARK

GAMELAN RAKYAT The mark takes form from the floral designs predominantly seen on gamelan instruments. This modern iteration is fresh and timeless, while keeping traditional aspects such as the decorative flourishes inspired by Batik artwork. The thin line strokes of the flower paired with the simple typeface are inspired by the sacred flower of Indonesia, the melati putih, which symbolizes purity, sacredness, graceful simplicity, and sincerity. Without any distracting flourishes, the typeface emits a clean and pure feeling. The color palette is new and striking, evoking the exciting experience of gamelan performances. This modern traditional mark bridges the gap between the old and the new. It tells us that an old traditional art form such as gamelan doesn’t have to be appear outdated or antiquated.

The brand for Gamelan Rakyat will bring together the community. Taking a tradition and giving it a new modern face will attract different kinds of audiences and allow all kinds of people to experience the art of gamelan.
