Behind the Scenes with CFCArts - The Making of Cinderella

Reason and Arguments – How They Can Help Us Live Together

Have you ever wanted a peek behind the stage curtain? Join the team from Central Florida Community Arts as they share more about bringing Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella to Orlando. Follow their journey to creating a safe, socially- distant theatre experience and performance of this enchanting tale in the nontraditional space of Fashion Square Mall in Orlando. Experience their passion for theatre, from the first production meeting to the final rehearsal — including interviews with members of the creative and administrative team at Central Florida Community Arts. It’s almost like having a backstage pass!

We’ve all been there — had arguments with friends, family or even our neighbors. Arguments are a part of life; they are a natural and inevitable experience and are tools for expressing or discovering reasons for positions and policies. But rather than fights or competition, arguments can help us appreciate each other, get along peacefully, and work together — even when we disagree strongly. In this virtual program, Walter SinnottArmstrong, a Chauncey Stillman Professor of Practical Ethics at Duke University, will share more about how we can all benefit from learning how to argue better.

April

is Stress Awareness Month at the Center for Health & Wellbeing!

It’s safe to say that being mindful of the stress on our bodies and minds is more important this year than ever before. New research backs this up: Americans between 45 and 65 years old are experiencing more stress today than people their age did in the 1990s, with experts citing changes in technology, family and relationship dynamics, and economic hardship as major reasons why. But the good news is there are a multitude of ways to cope with our stress; doing so carries significant weight in the equation of a healthy and positive life. This April, give yourself a break — eat healthy, exercise regularly and get plenty of sleep — and reduced stress is yours for the taking.

Did You Know?

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, some stress is healthy. Stress can motivate us in dangerous situations or non-life-threatening situations, like when taking a test or interviewing for a new job.

Stress Awareness Month Tip Recognize when you need to let it go or when you need help – speak to a parent, friend or trusted source. If stress continues and you’re overwhelmed by longterm stress, ask for help from a health professional.
