5 ARTIST IN RESIDENCIES AVAILABLE
While it may appear that a thing or person is either here or is not - in other words, in a state of absolute presence or absolute absence - in fact, absent things and absent people leave ‘traces’ of their presence.
Prepare to have your world moved in this exquisite exhibition, showcasing the skills of a talented make-up artist and photographer.
Our Gallery residencies will consist of a 5-week long exhibition, produced under the guidance of our 2016 Visual Arts Curator and Intern.
PHAKE gives you a glimpse into the highly passionate and otherworldly mind of a young trendsetter.
We are requesting applications for our 5 available residencies throughout 2016.
PHAKE displays Tanzys own brand of edgy, alternative styling with a high fashion influence. Her work emphasis es contrast and modern edge, spanning back over the past 4 years, and telling a tale of things to come.
Each successful artist will get the opportunity to create a new body of work. This includes a 1-week ‘live-in’ residency of creating art within the gallery itself, to really immerse them in an arts company, and to as a platform for developing their contemporary arts practice. We provide support and opportunities for 12 to 26 year old creative individuals. We kindle their passion for artistic expression through oneon-one mentoring, while offering the insight and skills necessary to make their own way in the creative industry. We want to help grow a new culture of creation, and in order to do this, we aim to respond to the needs of existing artists, to present that it is possible to succeed and thrive as a creative in Victoria.
We leave traces of ourselves in the warmth left in our bed in the morning, in the litter we throw away, in the structures we place in our environment. Human intervention is widespread, and it is often difficult to find a space in which we have not left traces of ourselves.

What is VOICEBOX, we hear you say.
Pop-up markets are so hot right now.
Well, we don’t actually know yet, but that’s half the fun. What we do know is that writers will develop monologues, actors and dancers will bring those monologues to life, while other scenic, visual and sound artists will help create a world around them.
Spring Sounds is the perfect excuse to enjoy a lazy, sunny afternoon by the water with family and friends. Take in some of the live music, or wander through the market-stalls brimming with crafty goodies. You may just find that perfect treasure to take home, or discover your new favourite band.
The rest...we’ll just have to wait and see. Voicebox will be a rich and vivid experience, entirely developed through the collective effort of young storytellers from all creative backgrounds, in response to new and unexplored surroundings. All their hard work will come together in a final emmersive, genre-bending performance at Deakin Waterfront. WHEN:
15TH–17TH OCTOBER.
