www.unicommsummit.com BACKGROUND UNiCOMM 2013 is a premier networking conference designed to equip small businesses, career-changers, college students, professionals and small businesses with a comprehensive knowledge of the latest industry trends to secure their position in the current marketplace. The conference features nationally acclaimed speakers who empower participants to transform your their talents into a successful personal brand or increase the visibility your business brand. The vision for the summit is to bridge the communication gap between corporations and economically disadvantaged groups. The goal is to bring national expertise to Baltimore to assist small businesses and the local workforce in adapting to the changing marketplace trends. The conference is a component of DPN Group, LLC is a communication management consulting firm focusing on diversity & inclusion in entrepreneurship and the workforce. DPN Group was founded by Andrea Garris Jackson, whose 25-year career includes directing diversity programs, community relations and government affairs. Its clients include: Beatty Development Group, East Baltimore Development Inc, Forest City-New East Baltimore Partnership, Jackson Lewis LLP and Johns Hopkins, to name a few. During her career, Jackson worked with over 1,000 businesses providing expertise and guidance in strategic planning, program development and capacity building. Her passion for bridging the cultural communication gap stems from her childhood experience as a daughter of a minority general contractor. She is consistently in demand for politically charged, high-profile assignments with significant minority inclusion requirements or with corporations that want to develop meaningful diverse participation. Jackson strategically works with the owner’s team and the business community to create a win-win situation. Her approach to working with clients consist of ”The 5 C’s of Consulting: communication, credibility, creativity, confidentiality and clarity”. She is a results driven professional who utilizes metrics to provide realistic outcomes for her clients. Andrea is also the visionary for African-American Women in Business Network hosted on Meetup.com; Business Crash Courses, a catalog of professional development training for small businesses and new professionals; and she is an instructor for Communication 101 and 102 at Dominion Leadership University She is active in the local community serving the Y of Central Maryland as the Community Engagement Chair, Govans Ecumenical Development Corporation Board of Directors and VP of GEDCO Homes, a financial supporter for the Entrepreneurial Development Assistance Center at Morgan State University and an active Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She has a BA in Political Science from Morgan State University and an MA in Contemporary Communications from The College of Notre Dame. Jackson is also a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. What should I wear/What may I bring? Attendees generally wear business or casual attire. During the day, you will be moving throughout the convention center, including up and down stairs, so wear comfortable and appropriate clothing and shoes. Limit yourself to a moderately-sized purse; attendees will receive a Conference material once you arrive for all of your program materials.   

What is included in the registration? Light continental breakfast, lunch, Two main keynote sessions, two breakout sessions featuring more than 6 topics to choose from, access to the exhibit hall all day, business pitch competition and networking. How long is the Conference? One day, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, exact times subject to change

How does seating work? Seating is done on a first come/first served basis except for the lunch session. If a table is purchased, assignments are made based upon registration date; individual seats are also assigned by date and multiple guests within a single reservation will be seated together.
