Dear Student, Greetings From Brazil! We invite you for an Internship Experience and discover a world of possibilities in Brazil. Students from all around the world are very welcome! CI Experience Brazil provides you a practical supervised program in different areas, offering many exciting opportunities. The experience in Brazil, one of the most interesting emerging markets in the world, will be an exciting and rewarding one, for those whose primary reasons for participating is to improve their personal and professional skills and open their minds for learning more about a different culture and upgrading their resumes.

Who can apply? The program is designed for people from 20 to 30 years old who are currently enrolled in a Higher Education Institution (graduation, master, post grad). It’s not mandatory to have Portuguese Language skills but it is important to say that in a few cases the employer may require at least a basic knowledge. It’s mandatory to have good knowledge of English or/and Spanish languages, according to the position’s requirement.

How does the program work? PAID INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE The internship will be inside companies or in academic institution’s laboratories. We work alongside several companies throughout Brazil that offer opportunities for

international students. Our aim is to find the most suitable candidate for each available position.

Standard Internship – You can apply for positions listed according to the students’ field and interest. There are many attractive positions inside companies and universities (labs, research centers, junior companies, etc.). Check our list of available positions to know more. Activities and length of stay will be listed but dates may be flexible. Most positions are paid and the candidates will receive a monthly wage which will help to cover basic lodging and meal expenses. Except for a few cases, candidates doing an internship inside a company are required to attend at least one academic discipline at a Brazilian university. As private and public institutions take part of this program, some of them may charge a monthly fee. All candidates will be advised about any extra costs before accepting the internship positions. Each position will bring you the following information: • • • • • • • •

Code Field of study Location Short description about the employer Activities to be developed Requirements Length (may be negotiable with the employer) Monthly wage It is important to read carefully the complete description of the offer.

Placements – You can be placed in different fields and also different places, according to the availability of vacancies. Payment and Benefits – Interns in Brazil can receive a “pocket money” to cover daily expenses. Some companies may provide benefits as transportation and meals, but it is not a rule. The participants should not expect to save money during their stay. It is important to remind that employers use to pay their interns only in the end of the month. Minimum wage in Brazil is R$ 788 (local currency). Please take a look at the “Welcome Booklet” provided by CI Experience with information about living costs and Brazilian culture. Program Requirements Visa – Students willing to take part in the Paid Internship program must apply for the “Temporary Visa Item IV” (VITEM IV). For internships no longer than 120 days (4 months) it is necessary that the student is enrolled only in an Academic Institution outside Brazil. For internships longer than 120 days, the visa is designed for international students necessarily enrolled in Brazilian universities and allows them to participate into a paid activity. In exceptional situations, employers accept to hire the student as a regular employee. In this case it is not mandatory that the student is enrolled at a Brazilian university and the candidate will have to apply for “Temporary Visa Item V” (VITEM V), which allows foreign students to take part in a temporary contract of employment. Both visas categories cannot be changed while the student is in Brazil. Students must apply for one of the visas mentioned above before leaving their country and will not be accepted into the program without it. IMPORTANT: Some countries require a criminal background from the applicant and this will be under the student’s responsibility. Please note in some cases it can take over 30 days to be issued by the local authority. Once in Brazil all foreign students under the “Temporary IV Visa” and “Temporary V Visa” are obligated to visit the Federal Police Department within 30 days and register themselves.

CI Experience provides general information about the Federal Police Department. Candidates must bring with them: • • •

Two 3x4 pictures; The original visa request; Copy of all the used pages in the passport including those with picture and personal data. Those copies must to be notarized in Brazil;

The Federal Police Department will charge a fee of around US$ 150 in local currency (Reais). Language Requirements - There are more opportunities for those candidates who have at least basic level of Portuguese Language but some employers accept those candidates without this skill. All participants must have excellent level of English or Spanish, besides their home language. Travel Medical Insurance - It is mandatory that all students purchase medical travel insurance with a complete coverage before leaving their home country.

CI Experience needs to receive the insurance liability and the copy of the insurance policy before your arrival. This document is mandatory for your booking confirmation.
