You will also receive a unique Malvern House Progress Diary, full of useful information, where you can set goals and record your progress with your teacher’s help during individual progress tutorials. There are weekly and monthly progress tests (in class and online) to consolidate learning and you have online access to your progress reports.

NCUK INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION YEAR

Guarantee your place on a degree course at a top UK university on successful completion of the NCUK International Foundation Year. The programme combines and integrates academic excellence in both English language and specialist subjects, while preparing you for life and study in the UK. Options to boost your English before starting the Foundation programme are available. The IFY is a “university pathway” programme which prepares international students for first-year entry to an undergraduate degree course in an English language university. The IFY aims to improve your level of English to enable students to communicate and study effectively and to develop the study skills and subject knowledge necessary for their degree. The programme immerses students in the study methods used for learning development and assessment in the UK, which may be very different from that of their home countries. The course prepares students for life in the UK through familiarisation with British culture and acts as a ‘bridge’ between school in their home country and university.

GENERAL ENGLISH Whatever your reasons for learning English, all students need a solid base and our General English programmes provide you with that. Our courses help to develop all four skills of the English Language: reading, writing, listening and speaking, with a focus on improving your ability to communicate clearly and effectively. With three intensities to choose from, and a minimum of one week, students can tailor their course to their needs and also add extra individual lessons.

PRONUNCIATION

Improve your conversational English by practising speaking, listening, pronunciation and vocabulary. You will become more fluent and confident when speaking English.

Improve your writing for daily life and also for pleasure. Learn how to write formal and informal letters, emails and texts, stories and poems etc. The course will provide you with a model text and give you practice in the process of writing and awareness of the type of language used.

Speak more clearly and be easily understood. This module will also help your listening too and make you a more effective and confident communicator. You will learn the individual sounds of English and the other features of pronunciation, such as intonation and sentence stress.

BRITISH CULTURE*

TRAVEL & TOURISM*

Explore the fascinating area of the media in its many forms – TV, newspapers, magazines, radio, etc. and develop your language skills at the same time. This module highlights commonlyused language which you can practise in a media context e.g. doing interviews, writing articles and much more.

This course develops the English language and communication skills necessary for work in the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. Improve your vocabulary skills though discussion and real life role play.

Discover contemporary and traditional culture - the music scene, the monarchy, sport etc. Improve your vocabulary and practise your skills at the same time through interesting texts and discussion.

BUSINESS ENGLISH

BUSINESS ENGLISH English is the language of international business and there is no better place to study than in London! Our courses equip students for the global business arena, developing and practising their Business English skills through our innovative project-based course.

WORKING ENGLISH Our Working English programme allows you to learn key English language skills and the target language needed for working in an English-speaking environment. EXAM PREPARATION

IELTS EXAM PREPARATION IELTS is an internationally-recognised qualification in academic English, with very wide recognition throughout the world. It is a standard qualification for university entrance and some professional bodies, and also gives proof of your English abilities for employment and visa purposes. We will focus on each skill individually as well as providing extensive exam practice and tuition focused to your language needs. By tailoring the preparation to your specific requirements, we can ensure you have the language and exam techniques to succeed in your goals.

CITY EXPLORER The City Explorer is designed to offer young students (16-19) the chance to study in adult classes but give parents the peace of mind that their children are accommodated next to the school and are supervised outside of the classroom. There are organised activities and excursions every day, with some additional free time to explore the sights of London. All students on this programme will be considered juniors and will be carefully monitored, but please note that there will be some periods of unsupervised free time, with parental permission.
