The Secret Fjord

Paddling the Secret Fjord Norway is probably most famous for it´s nature and specifically the fjords and mountains. A magnificent natural scenery that more and more people worldwide are finding as their exciting summer adventure. With all the media the fjords got the last 10 years the amount of tourists have increased making some parts not as exciting for a paddleadventure as it ones was. But be aware there are still some secrets to be found. And on the following pages we´ll try to show you one that can help you get that original feeling.

THE TRIP IS SUITED for those that have paddled a bit before, expect about 4 hours in a kayak with a lunch mid day covering a total of about 10-15 km (6-9 miles). You´ll be supplied with all neccesary gear. The trip is a full day event. We use single kayaks or sit on tops.

TRIP OVERVIEW 0900 Departure downtown in our shop in Bergen. It is walking distance to most central hotels. Transfertime is about 1,5 hrs. We´ll be travelling one of the old historic roads to the Hardangerfjord.

1100-1530 Paddling the secret fjord, about 10 km paddling. About halfway there is a lunch break. Lots of photo oppurtunities and fantastic scenery. Our favorite fjord! The land is traditional Norwegian Fjordlands, waterfalls, green hills and cliffwalls. Our secret fjord has no roads for most part and are only acessible by boat. Luckily the bridge at the opening is to low for any big ship, so we´ll have it mostly to our selves. A great place for a kayak!

Bottom of the Fjord

CLIMATE Norway has a cool but temperate climate. During the season we can meet temperatures varying from 10C to 25C. This is the western part of the country and the reason for it beeing green is, yes, it rains a lot. So rain is expected. Water temperature vary form chilling 6 degress early may to about 18-20C in august.

GEAR We supply the gear needed for the paddling. Paddling pants, jackets, lifejackets, shoes, kayaks, paddles, decks is all provided. We also have a drybag/case so you can bring your camera. You will need to bring warm underwear or hiking wear dependant on season. A hat/cap and a waterbottle. 40 And the most important, a happy face and excitement!

SAFETY All our guides are highly trained with extensive paddle experience. All are trained to the norwegian paddle assosciations instructor levels, and most also hold a international paddlesport leader qualification (BCU, ACA or similar). We ofcourse carry the neccesary first aid and communication equipment.

Trips can be fitted for a group need, individuals can sign up on our open trips thursdays during season. Minimum clients are 6 for a group booking. Max 8.
