April 22, 2008 – With the purpose of helping taxpayers

file their 2007 tax returns (DA 2007), the Tax Administration Service (SAT) has posted more than 4 thousand people at different points like local taxpayer service administrations, free Internet cafes, mobile modules, trucks, in addition to telephone help with a toll-free number called INFOSAT, to which taxpayers may call from anywhere in the country.
In addition, taxpayers may obtain the program DeclaraSAT for free, which allows them to automatically calculate the tax and send the annual return for fiscal year 2007 or use DeclaraSAT on line from the SAT's Internet portal. This tool does not require installing an additional piece of software on the computer. The program may be used by individuals who obtained income from a single source or who accumulated two or more than two of the following: wages, salaries and similar; business and professional activities; intermediate regime; real estate rents (dwelling unit and/or premises for commercial purposes); and interests (derived from the financial system or otherwise).
This on-line tool brings the information that employers and other persons under the obligation to withhold tax submit in the form of information returns; therefore, in the case of wage-earners it may be considered to be their annual return and all they have to do is confirm the data and submit. The system guides the user and provides an on-line help service with 60 people ready to answer questions from taxpayers through a personal chat session.
To publicize the tool, e-mail messages were sent to more than 4 million taxpayers; 62 types of advertising material were printed, among them leaflets, flyers, signs, help sheets, user guides and others; the video “Pulso Fiscal” was played in the taxpayer service modules, containing general information about the annual return; and more than 71 thousand DeclaraSAT CDs were distributed in strategic points, like SAT offices, chambers of commerce, associations, city halls, secretaries of finance of the States, specialized magazines, media, banks, among others.
Also, institutional alliances were formed with public and private institutions, whereby such institutions disseminate information about the annual return 2007, with banners and links on their Internet and Intranet pages, by printing a reminder on all the receipts of their payroll, in addition to distributing print material.
