The Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations, in keeping with initiatives provided in the 2010-2013 Strategic Plan is implementing a new communication policy. It began with the opening to the general public of the Organization’s Web site, by providing free access to documents and publications that include our reviews, statistics and research works with the most recent tax innovations. In addition, our Newsletter has evolved to a fortnightly and electronic publication and likewise, the Tax News Alert service has been created. A fundamental milestone in this policy has been achieved this month; namely: the evolution of our site in Internet. The new site includes digital resources and such interactive elements as images, animation and sound to facilitate handling of the information to be found therein. In addition, space has been allowed for the discussion of important tax administration and policy issues. To complement the communication strategy, CIAT has now become a part of the digital social networks. Thus, CIAT can will be found in Twitter to be timely informed about training activities; or in Facebook, a space for expanding the face-to-face events organized and coordinated by the organization; while access to various videos is also available in Youtube; e.g., the dissemination of selected lectures from general assemblies and technical conferences. Launching of the new Web site has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 19, 2010 within the framework of the Technical Conference to be held in Paris, France on October 18-21, 2010. In view of technical works to be carried out, the e-CIAT Newsletter and Tax News Alert services will be suspended on October 15, 2010. We apologize to our user community for this inconvenience and greatly appreciate your understanding. A cordial invitation is extended to everyone, to visit the new site in Internet and actively participate in consolidating this new network that will constitute a fundamental means for increased interaction in tax dialogue. We await your visit! Sincerely yours, Márcio F. Verdi Executive Secretary
