The Tax Administrations Inform
Argentina - at the forefront of the implementation of the new global standard for the automatic exchange of financial information Mandated by the G20, the OECD has developed a new global standard for the automatic exchange of financial accounts and in the ministerial meeting held in Paris the OECD countries, including Switzerland, United States, Argentina, Brazil and China, among others, pledged to implement it. Argentina - implements automatic exchange of tax information with the Netherlands Argentina, through the AFIP, has signed the first Memorandum of Understanding for the effective implementation of the automatic exchange of tax information with the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The document was signed by the Federal Administrator of Public Revenue, Ricardo Echegaray and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Hein de Vries Mr. Hein de Vries stated that relationships are on a good path and it is a privilege to sign this agreement, which has effects beyond this document. Brazil - Carlos Barreto emphasizes the importance of using technology in tax administrations The Federal Revenue Secretary participates in the 48th Assembly of the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT), in Rio de Janeiro Rio de Janeiro, May 5, 2014 - Representatives of 32 of the 38 members of the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT) countries were present today at the opening of the 48th General Assembly in Rio de Janeiro. The main topic of the event is “The use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the Tax Administration.” During the opening session, the Secretary of Federal Revenue, Carlos Alberto Barreto, said that this meeting is a valuable opportunity for debate at a time when the governments of many countries make efforts to recover the growth of their economies. “Tax administrations are committed to finding solutions to the fiscal problems to ensure an increased capacity of public funding,” he said. For the Secretary, recent developments in information technology have provided considerable opportunities and advances to tax administrations. He cited as examples the projects Tax Digital Bookkeeping and Electronic Invoicing, tools that reduce the bureaucracy, facilitate the related controls for tax compliance and promote the equality between taxpayers in regard to compliance. “These initiatives generate very positive impact not only on the tax revenue, but also in reducing costs and leveling the economic competitiveness.” Among the participants of the CIAT event are representatives of institutions / companies such as the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the International Monetary Fund (MF), Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the World Customs Organization (WCO), Oracle and Serpro, in addition to the Finances Secretaries of the Brazilian states . The CIAT CIAT is an international nonprofit organization, founded in 1967, with its central office in Panama, which provides specialized assistance to its member countries in order to strengthen and modernize their tax administration. The organization aims to support the efforts of national governments in institutional strengthening, through encouraging international cooperation and exchange of experiences and best practices. Bolivia - The SIN collected 17.911 million in the first quarter of 2014 , especially VAT and Profit Tax In the first quarter of the year, national tax (SIN) service has collected Bs 17.911 million, incomes that are higher by 8% compared to similar period of the previous period. This period shows that tax revenues of the internal market - not including HDI and IEHD - grew by 11%, highlighting the sustained increase (18%)of the value added tax (VAT), and the tax on the profits of companies (SUI) of 8%, said its Executive Chairman, Erik Ariñez Bazán. Colombia - Tax information exchange agreement with United States enters into force With the support and efforts of the Embassy of Colombia in the United States, the note from the Government of this country to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia has been delivered for the entry into force, on April 30, 2014, of the Tax Information Exchange Agreement between the Governments of Colombia and the United States. Colombia - DIAN identifies software used for VAT evasion The National Direction of Tax and Customs - DIAN detected through actions of control that small businesses of the departments of Antioquia and Santander are using software to evade the VAT. The software used for the omission of income apart from their normal functions for the administration of sales, inventory, accounts payable, generation of reports, administration of user profiles; allows concealment of sales, resulting in the omission of income and keeping the VAT that was already paid by Colombians. Dominican Republic - DGII revenues grow 16.6% in the first quarter of the year, not including extraordinary income The General Internal Revenue Directorate (DGII) reported that they obtained an interannual increase in collection from a 16.6% in the first quarter of the year compared with the same period last year, not including extraordinary income, exceeding nominal growth of 9.2% projected for the economy for 2014, as a clear evidence of the tax administration efficiency. In the January-April period, the revenue collected by the DGII reached RD$ 118,438.3 million, for an increase of RD$ 20,893.1 million and a growth of 21.4% compared to the same period of the previous year. Paraguay - Collection registers an increase of 25.5% until April EIn the month of April 2014, the Undersecretary of State of taxation (SET) raised about 970 billion guaranies, implying an increase of 160 billion guaranies more than the revenue collected by the SET in April 2013. So far for the year (January to April 2014), the SET collected the total sum of 2 trillion 823 billion guaranies, $ 628 million, which means an increase of 25.5%, the details of which can be seen in the following table. Peru – Collection for the income tax regularization grows by 19.9% Between January and April, revenues from regularization of the income of the financial year 2013 tax amounted to S /.3.219 million, which represents an increase of 19.9%, in real terms. This amount is higher in S /. 621 million with respect to the results of the previous campaign, which recorded a revenue of S/. 2,598 million This growth occurs in a context in which the regularization of the Mining Sector revenues decrease by 74%, in real terms, while that in other economic sectors, the regularization has increased.
