Vivacity in the village The Lyttelton Arms in hagley gets a stylish makeover with help from hospitality interior design specialist JMDA

estled in the heart of Hagley in Birmingham, The Lyttelton Arms radiates character and charm. Transformed from a country pub into a premium restaurant and bar, the site has been chosen by owners Mitchells & Butlers to become a high energy offer for its vibrant clientele, bringing a touch of bravura and glamour to the small heritage village. The hospitality experts at interior design studio JMDA were called upon to make this vision into a reality. The venue boasts a number of arresting external details; rich green tones complement new satin brass signage and lighting, while planted archways create a threshold upon entering the garden, sprinkled with twinkling lights to create a welcoming feature for customers. In terms of seating, the outdoor area offers an eclectic mix of styles, with lounge and drinking height furniture, upholstered in vivacious printed fabrics, breaking up the vast patio space. Inside, guests are greeted with bespoke brass hardware, oversized metallic planters and striking modern artwork. A spacious, indulgent lounge opens up the room. Tear drop tiles line the front of the bar, enhanced by a busy carata marble top, which adds drama and impact. Plush velvet seating with ruched detailing surrounds the dominant bar in a variation of heights,

forming a comfortable drinking and dining environment. The main dining area provides intimate zones festooned with rich colours, luxurious fabrics and chic metallic finishes. Large brass light fittings sit proud within the open ceiling spaces and table lamps generate an cosy, tranquil setting for the evening. Back to back dining sofas create a relaxed feel while larger dining areas house straight runs of fixed seating, offering flexibility for staff. There are also a number of curved booths that can be booked for special
