Our Story Yaccomaricard began as a fashion project in the innovative Tokyo district of Shibuya over 35 years ago, the design collective of three friends; fashion graduate Mariko Watanabe, photographer Ricardo Watanabe and Yacco Hayata a graduate of the highly respected Bunka Fashion College whose alumni include Kenzo Takada and Yohji Yamamoto. Their aim was to transcend the constraints of conventional fashions of the time and design a collection which expressed and suited their lifestyle, allowing the wearer’s clothing to be just as creative and original as them. The development and selection of high quality raw fibres, dyeing and manufacturing processes were a fundamental theme in this mission. This led to Thailand and their superior dyeing and weaving techniques, a country in which Yaccomaricard’s manufacture and raw materials have been sourced for over 20 years.
Our Shirts At the heart of every collection is the signature Yaccomaricard pin tucked cotton shirt. Each tuck is placed by hand into varying densities of cotton and silk, and is a testament of the technical skill of the YM team from design through to production. Silhouettes can be loose, unconstructed or sculptural, precise and tailored - the Yaccomaricardshirt has become a trans-seasonal wardrobe essential thanks to their addictive quality. Our Customer The Yaccomaricard customer is looking beyond traditional trends but wants to convey a sense of imagination in her clothing. The label she chooses must have a commitment to quality whilst retaining a sense of originality. The common theme throughout Yaccomaricard’s global customer base is creativity with modern sensibilities.
Our Stores The Yaccomaricard design philosophy is reflected by an expanding network of 26 stand alone and department store concessions across Japan and Thailand as well as over 250 Yaccomaricard stockists across the Far East, Europe, Russia, South Africa and the United Kingdom. A European flagship store opened in Kensington in 1998 and just recently the doors to a second UK store opened bringing a little bit of Shibuya to Marylebone Lane.
