The Escape’s full-hybrid system is able to run on gasoline, battery power or both together, with acceleration performance similar to that of a V-6, but with a smaller gas engine. A 2.3-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine features improved efﬁciency producing 133 horsepower. A 70-kWatt (equivalent to 94 horsepower) electric traction motor provides added boost to the drive wheels when maximum acceleration is desired. A generator-motor recharges the batteries, starts the engine and helps regulate how the two propulsion channels blend together in the electronically controlled CVT transaxle.

The Escape Hybrid makes a more powerful statement, with a bolder, more rugged exterior design bearing a stronger family resemblance to Ford’s Explorer and Expedition.

TUNDRA HIGHLANDER All-new for 2007, Toyota’s Tundra thunders into 2008 with minor changes; foglamps are now optional on SR5 models and the bumpers on Regular Cab models can be had in ﬂat black and chrome. The Tundra full-size pickup truck is offered with a choice of 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains, three cab styles, three wheelbases, three bed lengths, three engines and three trim levels. Three levels of power are offered as well. In Regular and Double Cab models, a standard 4.0-liter V-6 produces 236 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 266 lb.-ft. of

All new for 2008, the Jeep Liberty offers two Trail Rated four-wheel-drive systems, Command-Trac and the all-new Selec-Trac II. Onroad ride and handling have been improved with the new independent front suspension, ﬁve-link rear suspension and rack-and-pinion steering. The exterior has been redesigned and takes on a more rugged look. Inside, cargo and storage space increases and seat comfort improves. The new Sky Slider full-open canvas roof gives the Jeep Liberty an open-air experience. Remote start, rain-sensing wipers, memory seats and mirrors, and express up/down windows are added to the vehicle’s list of available

features and options. There are two models – Jeep Liberty Sport and Jeep Liberty Limited. The 3.7-liter SOHC V-6 engine provides the 2008 Jeep Liberty with 210 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 235 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm. Two transmissions are offered: a six-speed manual transmission and a four-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy has been improved and now achieves about 16 miles per gallon city and 22 mpg on the highway. A full range of active and passive safety systems are offered. The Chevy Trailblazer gets XM Satellite Radio and head-curtain side airbags as standard equipment for 2008 on all models. Three new exterior colors grace the new model-year lineup; Dark Cherry Metallic, Black Granite Metallic and Desert Brown Metallic. The standard engine in TrailBlazer is the Vortec 4.2-liter inline six-cylinder, which produces 285 horsepower and 276 lb.-ft. of torque. Also available is the Vortec 5.3-liter small-block V-8, which includes Active Fuel Management. It is rated at 300 horsepower and 321 lb.-ft. of torque. Regulated voltage control for the Vortec 4.2 and 5.3 engines enhances

fuel economy by reducing the load on the engine generated by the alternator. TrailBlazer uses hydroformed steel frame side rails, which form a strong foundation for the truck’s overall strength and solid feel, even on unpaved surfaces. A ﬁve-link rear suspension and independent, double-A-arms upfront work with a system of 12 specially tuned body mounts using hydraulics and rubber pads to dramatically reduce vibration and harshness on any kind of road or trail. For 2008, the Outlook crossover enters its second year of providing Saturn customers the capability of an SUV – including seating for up to eight, space for their gear and the ability to tow up to 4,500 pounds – with car-like efﬁciency and driving characteristics. It is the largest vehicle in a revamped Saturn lineup that is all new within less than two years. The 2008 Outlook allwheel-drive models feature a new Active On Demand system that delivers a more reﬁned driving experience and optimizes vehicle dynamics and control. The system works by actively managing the torque split between the

front and rear axles -- based on factors such as vehicle speed, throttle opening and surface conditions. Another new feature for 2008 is a rear backup camera. Included with the Navigation radio, it helps drivers detect stationary objects behind the vehicle. Introduced in 2007, Acadia debuted as GMC’s ﬁrst foray into the crossover market, offering seating for up to eight and combining the capability of a sport-utility vehicle with a smooth ride and responsive handling. A 275-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 with variable valve timing supplies power. For 2008, GMC adds Panic Brake Assist. When panic braking is detected, the system develops additional brake pressure to more quickly engage ABS. Also, Acadia AWD models feature an Intelligent AWD system that reduces understeer and improves cornering capability. A rear backup camera is now available with the navigation system. Integrated

with Ultrasonic Rear Park Assist, it provides a visual reference of objects directly behind the vehicle and an audible warning of the objects’ proximity. Displayed on the navigation-system display screen, icons and audible chimes provide an easy-tounderstand reference to items behind the vehicle. These new features join a comprehensive list of equipment including: heated outside mirrors, a power liftgate, a skyscape dual sunroof, heated windshield-washer ﬂuid, a head-up display that projects instrument readouts and other features onto the windshield, a DVD-based entertainment system for rear-seat passengers, Bose 5.1 Surround Sound audio system

The 2008 front-wheel-drive Pontiac Vibe continues as a sporty crossover for customers looking for a vehicle that combines exciting driving characteristics and a variety of user-focused features.
