Paid bus service failed to pick up some Oak Hills kids Jennie Key Cincinnati Enquirer USA TODAY NETWORK

A private bus company that provides transportation for some Oak Hills Local School District students is fixing issues that resulted in some students not getting service for first day of school. About 20-30 students who had paid for bus service weren’t picked up on the first two days of the school year, meaning some parents scrambled to get kids to class. Samantha Bamburger says Queen City Transportation took her money in June to secure her son’s seat on a private-company bus for his freshman year at Oak Hills High School. When the bus picked up students for the first day of class, it didn’t pick up her son. Bamburger was frustrated that frequent attempts to contact the bus company were unsuccessful as the start of school got closer. On Monday night, she still had no bus pass and no stop assigned. And on Tuesday, she had no bus information and no bus stopped. So she rushed to get her son to school. Her frustration reached the boiling point, as a bus drove by without picking up her son for a second day. “The driver looked and kept on driving,” she said. “I couldn’t believe it.” Many of the Oak Hills district’s 7,800 students don’t meet the criteria for district transportation. The district provides transportation for 2,773 stu-

Interested in learning more about decorative arts including furnishings, furniture, carpets, weavings and pottery as well as enjoying camaraderie? Look no further than the Decorative Arts Society of Cincinnati headquartered at the Cincinnati Art Museum. Founded decades ago by passionate collectors, the society presents its 2018-2019 season. Its intent is to bring scholars in decorative arts with national reputations to share their expertise. DASC offers members and the public a mix of lectures, historic house tours, museum field trips, visits to private collections and meals within a 150-mile radius of Cincinnati from August through May. President Ed Loyd said, “DASC provides a forum for developing connoisseurship and lifelong friendships.” To kick off the season, DASC presented a tour of six local churches on Aug. 11. Attendees took a walking tour of a rich array of Protestant churches with remarkable architecture, important stained glass windows including Tiffany and LaFarge, and decor featuring Cincinnati art-carved furnishings and works of art. Next on the schedule is a lecture called “A Vision of Place” given by William P. Curtis of Curtis & Windham Architects of Houston at 2 p.m. Sept. 9 in the Fath Auditorium at the Cincinnati Art Museum. The lecture and reception are free and open to the public. On Oct. 14, DASC offers a bus trip to West Liberty and Sidney, Ohio, to visit two Piatt castles and People’s Federal Savings & Loan designed by Louis H. Sullivan. Sullivan (1856-1924) was a noted architect from Chicago often called the "Father of Modernism." Frank Lloyd Wright served as a key architect on his staff before starting his own firm.

That’s really what parents want, Bamburger said. What would make this right for her would be an apology, a bus pass and an assigned bus stop. Anderson Ferry welcomes MS Lucky Lady on river CONSTANCE – Anderson Ferry wishes the best of luck to the MS Lucky Lady, whose Ohio River service between Rabbit Hash and Rising Sun, Indiana, begins this August. "We wish the ferry company at Rising Sun the best," Anderson Ferry spokesperson Paul Anderson said. "We believe that the ferry crossing will give the local population on both sides of the river a great alternative to a long drive by interstate and bridges." Anderson said that the Constance, Kentucky, ferry service doesn't believe it will be negatively affected by

the new ferry operation. "The news coverage of the new ferry reminds people that using a high-speed, high-volume bridge is not the only way to get from one state to another," Anderson said. The Anderson Ferry began operations in 1817 transporting vehicles and pedestrians between Constance and Cincinnati. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The ferry offers a scenic river view along southwestern Cincinnati and Boone County.

In soccer fight, West End president beats impeachment Cameron Knight Cincinnati Enquirer USA TODAY NETWORK

The West End Community Council voted not to impeach its president – and found the charges against him without merit. In the heated fight over the West End FC Cincinnati stadium, Keith Blake found himself in the center of the firestorm. A supporter of the stadium, the twoterm volunteer president was shouted down at meetings and accused of being

in the pocket of the soccer team. Then he signed a community benefits agreement with the team without full council approval. For at least five residents, it was the last straw and a petition was filed for his impeachment. The community eventually voted to appoint a six-person team and a lawyer to represent West End in further negotiations, and that group signed on to terms for that new deal. Lawyers for the community, FC Cincinnati and the Greater Cincinnati Redevelopment Au-

thority are still working to finalize the language of the agreement. "I think tempers are cooling," Blake told The Enquirer Wednesday. "We needed time to heal." The vote was 34-4 with four abstentions. Blake maintains that a vocal minority skewed the public's opinion of what the neighborhood wanted. He said there were many supporters who remained quiet and did not come to community council meetings because they had become so confrontational. "I just wanted West End to be at the table," Blake said of the community benefits agreement negotiations. Even if that meant, he wasn't at the table. The night before the negotiations, the community council voted Blake off the six-person team. Blake said the community council is now focused on establishing the 17member community advisory board and the stadium design committee.

West End Community Council’s Keith Blake CAMERON KNIGHT/THE ENQUIRER

Blake's term as president ends in June 2019. After that, he plans to stay involved. "I'll be spending a lot of my volunteer time on youth soccer," he said. He also wants the newly formed West End Athletic Association to start a tennis program – a sport he calls his first love. As for further political aspirations, Blake said he'll pass. "I'm going to go play soccer with the kids," he said. "Kids don't try to impeach you."

Bacon and tomato pasta This was originally called “bacon, lettuce and tomato pasta” and comes from the America’s test kitchen’s Quick Family Cookbook. Since I didn’t have arugula on hand that the recipe called for, I subbed in fresh basil. Consider this recipe a guide so go to taste on ingredients. Ingredients About 11⁄2pound cooked pasta (save 1⁄2 cup water from cooked pasta) 6 slices bacon, chopped 1 generous teaspoon or so garlic, minced 6-8 oz. cherry or grape tomatoes, halved (or regular tomatoes, chopped) Good handful basil, chopped ⁄2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated plus extra for garnish

Salt and pepper Instructions

Bacon and tomatoes come together for a fresh pasta idea. RITA HEIKENFELD/FOR THE COMMUNITY PRESS

Cook bacon and remove, saving a couple tablespoons fat left in skillet. Stir in garlic and tomatoes and cook until tomatoes get a little soft, a couple of minutes. Toss bacon, tomato mixture, Parmesan, basil and reserved pasta water with pasta. Season to taste. Serve with more Parmesan. Tip: no more curled bacon Preheat oven to 350 but no higher since the grease will spatter and bacon will curl. Line a cookie sheet with foil. Spray foil. Place bacon strips on foil. Bake for about 30 minutes or until done, turning bacon halfway through cooking time. This will give you a good idea as to how much longer it needs to bake. Cool on paper towels. Bacon can be frozen and reheated in the microwave.

Bacon, tomato pasta born from leftovers The recipe for bacon and tomato pasta that I’m sharing today came about from having to use up some fried bacon, cherry tomatoes and extra cooked pasta. I guess you could call it a “recipe improv” – when you use a recipe more as a guide than set in stone. That’s just what I did. Anyway, it turned out really good, so I wanted you to have it, too. I think you’ll love the chocolate almond sauce that a Clermont County reader requested. “I hope you have something that contains real chocolate and almonds,” she said. Well, in fact I do, and it’s a perfect sauce to ladle over a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream during these dog days of summer.

Flavor extracts: the real deal

Chocolate almond sauce The almond extract boosts the natural flavor of the almonds. If you don’t have almond extract, add a few more almonds. Ingredients ⁄4 cup sugar

1

⁄4 cup water

1

⁄2 cup whipping cream

1

8 oz. bittersweet chocolate, chopped ⁄4 teaspoon or bit more almond extract

1

⁄2 cup slivered almonds, toasted and chopped

1

Don’t use imitation. The flavor won’t carry through. Real extracts last a long time stored away from heat and light. Don’t refrigerate extracts. Instructions Stir sugar and water in a pan over low heat until sugar dissolves. Add cream, bring to a boil and remove from heat. Whisk in chocolate and extract until smooth. Stir in almonds. Refrigerate up to 3 weeks. Rewarm to serve.

Viewpoints Success can be found at Great Oaks Harry Snyder Guest Columnist Community Press

Success is often a measure of how far we go on our own personal journey. I was reminded of that fact recently at a graduation ceremony for the Aspire program at Great Oaks Career Campuses. The students are High School Equivalency, formerly known as GED, and Adult Diploma graduates. The Adult Diploma program is unique to Ohio, and it allows adult learners to become certified in a career field while finishing their HSE. The student speakers talked about their personal journeys and the roadblocks that they overcame. “When I was a sophomore in high school, I got pregnant,” said Kim. She took a year off and then returned to high school. “Going to school and having a baby went well at first, but then things became more complicated.” Kim had to leave school again, and children, family life, and a series of jobs got in the way. “I decided somewhere along the way that I could never need my GED and the fear of failure got me to the point where I didn’t even think about it anymore.” But two decades later, she walked into an adult class and in just four months of hard work, became a high school graduate. Rolando’s story starts very differently. A 2007 refugee from Guatemala, he needed to learn English to be a part of his new country. “The first day of class, I could not even say ‘Hi’ to my teacher,” he said. Through 1400 hours of class time, he completed all five levels of the ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) program, often walking miles to class after working long hours. He then decided to earn his diploma. More than two years

later, Rolando is a graduate. Maggie was working, but a 2015 car accident set her life in a different direction. She could no longer do the physical labor the job required, and without a high school diploma, her choices were very limited. “I was faced with going back to school,” she said. “I was nervous and scared; I had not been in a classroom in a really long time.” She joined the Adult Diploma program, but it was tough at first. “I had the time and motivation, but I was truly lacking in self-confidence-especially in math.” The first qualification test to enter the certification program made her face those fears, and her instructor helped. “I was so nervous, but Holly kept assuring me I was ready. And it was easier to go take the test than fight with her,” she laughed. Maggie earned her diploma and earned national certification as a Health Unit Coordinator. Then, as often happens, life took a different direction. She realized that a healthcare career wasn’t for her. “But if the Adult Diploma program taught me anything,” she said, “It was how to have faith in myself, how to overcome obstacles and disappointment and just keep moving forward.” Maggie is now in a management position at a local bank. These adults’ struggles are real and could happen to many of us. What matters is that each of those graduates persevered. They moved forward-often after repeated setbacks. And after months, or years, or decades, their persistence paid off and they walked across the stage, already successful and prepared for the next step in their lives. It was an emotional and uplifting evening. I’m proud of these graduates and of the Great Oaks teachers and staff who played a part in these outstanding adults’ success. LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Load up the moving trucks A majority of our County Commissioners (by a 2 to 1 vote) gave property owners another reason to move out of Hamilton County. A majority of our Commissioners authorized the placement on the November ballot of a property tax increase to benefit Hamilton County Job and Family Services. If the levy passes, (odds are that it will) already overburdened property owners will pay another $69 per $100,000 in addition to the $54 per $100,000 of the current levy. Job and Family Services, claims they are in a dire strait because of the heroin epidemic. But property owners, many of whom are older, are also in a dire situation and can’t afford to keep paying more taxes. Job and Family Services needs to learn to do more with less or seek other sources of revenue. Remember also, in Hamilton County, many of the services rendered by tax supported agencies (including JFS) are duplications of other services rendered by other tax supported agencies. Norbert A. Greater Cincinnati was well-represented at the 2018 U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships with a trio of local youth girls soccer teams making the trek south to Frisco, Texas, and logging praiseworthy performances with five individuals earning Best 11 honors. The 17U TFA Elite 01 team’s journey for a ticket to Texas started back in November when the club started National League play. Playing in Wilson and Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and Las Vegas, TFA Elite 01 went 5-1-1, outscoring opponents 16-2. “The girls were nervous from the very beginning because they knew how much it meant for them and the club to make it to the national champions,” TFA Elite head coach Jay Kiley said. “All the way up to the very last minute of the last game of the National League was very intense and we carried that same intensity to Frisco.” In the National League title game in Nevada, TFA Elite secured a spot in Frisco by blanking Lonestar 01 (Texas) 2-0 behind a shutout by Badin’s Mickayla Kowalski and goals by East Central’s Megan Caudy and University of Cincinnati verbal commit Elizabeth Flower (Seton). In Texas,TFA Elite lost its first game to Premier Navy 2001 (Maryland), then

won back-to-back games over FC Stars 01 (Massachusetts) and Pacesetter Villa Red (Ohio). The team’s run came to an end with a 5-2 semifinal loss to FCKC Academy Blues Elite (Missouri). “It was the first time in our club history that we had a team advance to the national championships and it was an unbelievable experience,” Kiley said. “The support that we got back home was fantastic. We had people who had never even heard about us saying that they were at home watching. It was a neat experience for the entire club.” TFA Elite goalkeeper Mickayla Kowalski, a Northern Kentucky University commit and a rising junior at Badin, earned the 17U Golden Glove Award. “She (Kowalski) has always been a great team leader,” Kiley said. “I’ve been coaching for over 25 years and I don’t think I’ve had a keeper with such great hands as Mick.” Defender Madelyn Pittman, a University of Cincinnati commit and senior at Harrison, led the team with four goals and was named to the 17U Best 11 team along with McAuley senior and Miami University commit Emily Sexton. “Having Emily Sexton and Maddy Pittman qualify as Top 11 was exciting for them and their performances were definitely deserving.” Kiley said. The 13U Kings Hammer Academy 05 Red, coached by Tiffany Roberts, finished as national runner-up.

KHA 05 lost 5-1 to San Diego Surf (California) to open the tournament, but rallied with a 2-2 tie with Liverpool 05 Elite (Texas) and a 2-1 win over Pipeline SC Pre-Academy (Maryland). In a rematch with San Diego Surf in the national title game, KHA 05 lost 1-0. Roberts said having lost to San Diego Surf by four goals - after taking a 1-0 lead - in the tournament opener helped when the two clubs met in the final. “It gave our staff a reason to tell our kids ‘listen, they’re gonna come at you and you’ve got to be prepared and stick to the plan we give you, ‘” Roberts said. “I thought in that last game our kids did a fantastic job of listening to some of the things we had talked about, adjusting to the game and obviously we gave ourselves a chance to win the game, but I couldn’t of asked for a better performance from those kids.” Midfielder Amanda Schlueter was second in the 13U age group with a team-best three goals while defender Abigail Unkraut and midfielder Kennedy Clark were named to the tournament’s Top 11 team. “First and foremost they (Unkraut and Clark) are great kids, on and off the soccer field,” Roberts said. “Amanda Schlueter scored most of our goals and those three really were the engine of that group and did a fantastic job wheeling our team in those four games.” The 18U Cincinnati Development Academy Premier 00, also coached by

Roberts, did not have a member selected to the Top 11, but did win its group by scoring a tournament-best 10 goals. CDA Premier scored five times in wins over Princeton SA (New Jersey) and Century V Gold (Pennsylvania), with a 0-0 tie with Legends FC South (California) sandwiched in between. Kings High School senior and Indiana University commit Jordyn Rhodes led the 18 & under group with four goals. West Clermont midfielder Kay Vogt, a Cleveland State commit, scored twice. “Jordyn Rhodes is a special kid and did an unbelievable job over the course of the week. I think they really missed her in the Top 11. I think Kate Larbes (Morehead State commit, Lakota East), Becky Dean (Butler commit, Mount Notre Dame) did a great job and Morgan White (Marshall commit, Fairfield), who is fast as lightning, created a ton of opportunities for our group.” CDA Premier 00 fell to eventualchampion Sunrise Sting 2000 (Florida) in the semifinals and finished third overall. Making the jaunt to Texas to compete for a national title is an accomplishment by itself, but Roberts explained how special it was to coach a pair of teams good enough for The Lone Star State. “Having a chance to play for a national championship at any level is a great experience, not only for our players but for our staff. To be able to go there with two groups was special,” Roberts said.

CHL football: Can anyone keep up with Wyoming? Adam Baum Cincinnati Enquirer USA TODAY NETWORK

If Wyoming can embody the philosophy instituted this season by head football coach Aaron Hancock to "do things better than they have ever been done before," then it could be another big season on Pendery Avenue. With 19 returning starters from a 12-1 team last season, the Cowboys again look like a preseason favorite and playoff contender as they celebrate their 100th season of organized football this fall, coming off back-to-back Cincinnati Hills League titles and consecutive regional runner-up seasons. Offensively, Wyoming will be hard to slow down with 6-foot-5 junior quarterback Evan Prater, who's already garnered some serious attention at the college level, back under center. Prater's joined by senior running back/linebacker Pierson Rogers and senior wideout/ defensive back Joey Edmonds. Those three combined for 55 touchdowns in the regular season last year. Prater completed nearly 70 percent of his passes and Rogers found the end zone 26 times.

Like Rogers and Edmonds, nearly all of Wyoming's returning starters are two-way players. Senior Hasan Black is a major piece of the puzzle again this season. Black, a

Division I college recruit, is back at linebacker and up front on the offensive line. Seniors James Smith, Eli Cupp, Luke Erny, Jared Hall and junior Harrison Shepherd are all back as starters in

the trenches on both sides of the football. Junior linebacker/tight end Camden O'Gara has led the Cowboys in tackles each of the last two seasons, and senior wide receivers/defensive backs Moey Mitchell and Perry McMichen add more depth and experience at the skill positions. With so much experience back in key spots all over the field, confidence should come easy for the Cowboys. Reading had one of its best seasons in a long time last year, winning the program's first playoff game since 2004 as an eight seed, upsetting a one seed. But the Blue Devils have a new head coach in Cody Reardon and they have some work to do replacing the talent lost to graduation. Reading needs to find new fits at quarterback, running back and must replace its top wide receiver. The Blue Devils have nine returning starters so look for some new names to help fill those gaps. Much of the talent Reading has back is at the skill positions, like senior runSee CHL FOOTBALL, Page 2B

ning back Cameron Moore, senior wide receiver/defensive back Gabe Van Skaik, senior running back/defensive back Keonte Sanders, junior linebacker/tight end Tanner Cromer, and senior wide receivers/defensive backs Don'nek Patterson and Alijah Vaught. Seniors Shawn Viessman and Andrew Freiertag will anchor the offensive and defensive lines. So far, Reardon has been pleased with the athleticism and leadership of his senior class, which has helped develop the youth in the program. Taylor had a rough season last year. The Yellow Jackets went 2-8 and scored the fewest points in the conference and allowed the most. Now in his second season, head coach Mark Miller has 17 returning starters and a senior class he said is eager to turn things around. The Yellow Jackets return players in key spots, too. Senior left tackle Andrew Murphy will protect the blindside of senior quarterback Tyler Embry. Seniors Jake Hughes, Eric Meyer and Jarod Walpole will give Taylor size and athleticism at the skill positions. Look for Taylor to take a step in the right direction this year. A winless season in 2017 hasn't deterred Finneytown from working to get better. Coach Gerald Warmack has nine returning starters and a core group of players back who've been working together all offseason to try and turn things around and pick up their first win since Oct. 3, 2014. The names to watch this season for the Wildcats will be Darrion Thomas, D’Shon Feaster, Larry Haywood, Marshall Mack and Don’Yai Kemper.

Cincinnati runner completes major running quest Long-time Cincinnati resident and avid runner, Tom Kimball, completed a major running milestone in July – running a marathon in all 50 states (and a total of 70 marathons). He ran his first marathon in San Francisco in 1979 and despised the experience so much that he swore to never run another marathon again. However, motivated by the premature and sudden death of his father (also an avid runner), Kimball, 61, started running again in his father’s memory in 1999. He ran the second running of the Flying Pig, caught the marathon “bug”, and was off and running once more. He established a personal best time in the 2001 Columbus Marathon, qualifying him for the Boston Marathon which he ran in 2002. He enjoyed the big city environment so much that he ran the 2003 New York City Marathon and the 2004 Chicago Marathon. At that point, Kimball had run marathons in five states and thought to himself, “What the heck, what’s another 45” Little did he know! His 50-state marathon quest began in earnest in 2006 with Kimball running the Twin Cities Marathon in Minneapolis/St. Paul. However, the pace really accelerated in 2013 – since then he has run an average of over six states per year. Nearing completion of his journey, his adult children expressed a desire to be there for his running of the 50th state. He wanted to choose a desirable location for his family to visit and decided to save Montana for his final state. Finally, last month, Kimball and his wife, Dana, treated their children and three grandchildren to a week-long trip to Missoula, Montana and Glacier National Park. Dana had made special tshirts for Kimball and the family to wear on race day outlining his state-by-state progress by date on the back and proclaiming, “My husband/dad/father-inlaw/friend/grandpa is running his 50th

The most beautiful marathon was Deadwood, South Dakota because it coursed entirely along streams, forests and mountain meadows. The most amazing running experiences were Boston because it is a runner’s dream and New York City because of the eclectic, diverse neighborhoods (it runs through all five boroughs). Many have asked, “what’s next”, including Kimball himself. He is a member of the Flying Pig Marathon Board and feels his experiences may help in making the Pig even better than it is now. He has served as a running coach for some of the local running stores and will explore coaching again. He and Dana think it’s time to take a vacation that doesn’t involve a marathon. Rumor has it that climbing Mount Kilimanjaro may be on his bucket list. Pregnancy Center West welcomes new executive director Pregnancy Center West (PCW) announced today that it has promoted Laura Caporaletti to Executive Director. Caporaletti, who has lead Pregnancy Center West’s chastity education program, The Body Matters, for the past two years, replaces Nicole Santaella, who has decided to be at home with her family as she welcomes the couple’s fifth child. “We’re delighted to have Laura step up to this role leading our Center,” stated Lisa Smith, president of PCW’s Executive Board. “Laura’s faith, energy, compassion and heart for PCW’s ministry position her as an excellent candidate. I know that God has put her where He intends, and our Board has every confidence in Laura’s leadership.” “I am both humbled and excited to serve as Pregnancy Center West’s newest Executive Director,” stated Laura Caporaletti. “To dedicate my time and talent to an organization that aspires to be a safe place for women, men, and babies is a privilege that I do not take for granted. As I get settled into this new role, I look forward to seeing how God will continue to inspire us to make PCW a place where all can turn to for love, support, and prayer, accurate information on abortion and its consequences, and critical material assistance. I know He has amazing things in store for our community.” Laura Caporaletti is a devout Catholic committed to promoting the sacredness and dignity of all human life - from fertilization to natural death. She is ecstatic to be serving women, men, and children in this capacity at Pregnancy Center West. Born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area, she chose to attend

Catholic University to study several subjects and grow in her faith. In 2014, she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Philosophy, as well as her master’s degree in Business Analysis. After graduating, she moved to Cincinnati to pursue a job opportunity at The Dynamic Catholic Institute. While at DCI, she served as a development officer and truly learned the “nuts and bolts” of non-profit work. Yet, she still desired to be involved with a pro-life organization in a more explicit way. In 2016, she joined the PCW team as the female educator and Outreach Coordinator of The Body Matters program. She spent two years in that role, speaking to over 2,800 students a year about God’s good plan for our sexuality and the pro-life movement. Bill Schinkal

‘A Few Good Men’ kicks off Covedale’s Marquee Season This Broadway hit about the trial of two Marines for complicity in the death of a fellow Marine at Guantanamo Bay sizzles on stage. The Navy lawyer, a callow young man more interested in softball games than the case, expects a plea bargain and a cover-up of what really happened. Prodded by a female member of his defense team, the lawyer eventually makes a valiant effort to defend his clients and, in so doing, puts the military mentality and the Marine code of honor on trial. Performance dates for “A Few Good

Men” run are scheduled from Sept. 13Oct. 7. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Covedale Center for the Performing Arts is located at 4990 Glenway Avenue in Cincinnati. Tickets are $29 for adults, $26 for seniors/students. Tickets may be purchased online at cincinnatilandmarkproductions.com or by calling the box office at 513-241-6550. Jennifer Perrino, Cincinnati Landmark Productions

This offer and details, including the stated APY, are accurate as of August 16, 2018, are available for a limited time and are subject to change at any time. 13.05% APY and 3.30% APY are the highest yields available for 3-year and 5-year Certificates, respectively as of August 16, 2018, according to the Bankrate.com “CD Rates for August 2018”: https://www. bankrate.com/cd.aspx. Bankrate.com does not include all companies or all available products. 2Certificates will be opened and interest will accrue as of the date funding is received; funding must be received within 10 days of opening the account. During the term of this certificate, the certificate owner has the option to initiate a rate adjustment one time per year during the term of their certificate to the prevailing GECU rate on that product. The certificate owner must provide a written or verbal request. 3This offer is applicable to new money or funds from maturing certificates at GECU. New money is defined as proceeds not previously on deposit with GECU. To change an existing termed certificate outside of its 7-day grace period, you will be assessed a penalty fee and must add a new money equivalent to the current balance of the certificate(s) the day the penalty is assessed if under $10,000; for balances of $10,000 or more, you must add a minimum deposit of at least $10,000 in new money. If electing to use non-maturing deposits currently with GECU, when transferring balances under $10,000, you must Insured by NCUA match (or exceed) the amount transferred from your GECU account with a new money; if transferring balances of $10,000 or more, you must add a minimum deposit of at least $10,000 in new money.
