Welcome

to The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati’s 2014–15 Season!

Hello! Welcome to The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati’s 90th birthday celebration! This season, I am so excited to bring to the Taft Theatre stage two Disney productions, the Snow Queen herself, and the greatest School House Rock concert this side of I-71. It’s time to party with us and there are lots of opportunities throughout the season to do just that, starting with our Family Gala, Brunch with Santa, Kids Kuisine, and our end of the year 90th birthday party celebration! Sooo, I hope you are ready for a fun-filled year of entertainment, engagement, and education done only the way The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati can! As you flip through the pages of our program, please read all about the wonderful history that made us who we are today. We’ve grown by leaps and bounds—thanks to our traveling ArtReach Division, our expanding Learning the Craft classes, and our fantastic Kids Club here at the theater. When The Junior League of Cincinnati decided to start a children’s theater program, I wonder if they imagined the hundreds of thousands of children (and children at heart) they would inspire? They lit that first spark, opening a whole world of imagination, creativity, and learning to generations of young Cincinnatians. It truly has been a long journey that we are still traveling. But now, it’s time to stop, reflect, and celebrate 90 amazing years. Thanks for being with us and I’ll see you soon, using my eyes and ears but not my mouth! Well, maybe just a little... See you at the theater!

WorkShops expand your students’ appreciation for music, drama and theater through lessons that are aligned with your curriculum. Our WorkShops bring a professional Teaching Artist directly into YOUR classroom letting your students be the star! FALL DAY W SNOAND Y A D RING SP AY D ! TOO

45-minute Interactive WorkShop, Grades: PreK-2 Appreciate the joy, colors, and beauty of autumn in this companion piece to “Snow Day” and “Spring Day.” Join a cast of friendly animals as they get ready for the approaching winter! Along the way, your students will experience changes in nature and the cycles of human emotions, and learn how important it is to “be prepared.”

ART ALIVE Presented in collaboration with the Cincinnati Art Museum 45-minute Interactive WorkShop, Grades: K-8

This WorkShop combines the stimulation of visual arts and the dynamics of theater exercises to prompt creativity, imagination, critical thinking and public speaking skills.

MY PLATE

45-minute Interactive WorkShop, Grades: PreK-4 Learn healthy habits with Chef Bon Appetit as he teaches rambunctious Chip the importance of eating right, and humdrum Tofutti the value of creative exercise. In this interactive WorkShop, theater meets nutrition as we encourage students to think “outside the box” and eat “inside the pyramid!”

INTO THE HIVE

45-minute Interactive WorkShop, Grades: Pre-K-4 Are the bumblebees disappearing? Two teaching artists from TCTC will lead a scientific investigation into the world of bees, and by applying the scientific process we learn to interpret the buzz of data. By the end, your class will understand the plight of the humble bumblebees and be able to take steps to save them from extinction!

STOP BULLYING ME!

45-minute Interactive WorkShop, Grades: 3-8 Presented with the help of the Northern Kentucky Heath Department, students will learn and practice methods to conflict resolution, self-respect, and respect for others through discussion, writing, and role-playing.

A CLASS ACT

45-minute Interactive WorkShop, Grades: PreK-6 This highly-adaptable WorkShop will address social issues and expand curriculum-based concepts. Dramatic play and fun improvisation games give students a creative outlet while also building self-respect, character, and teamwork. You love your cat, but not the allergy Cat allergy symptoms such as itchy and watery eyes, sneezing and stuffy or runny nose can make you feel miserable. If you have tried different treatments with little or no relief, we may have another option for you. Local doctors are conducting a research study of an investigational medication to see if it helps reduce the symptoms associated with cat allergies. If you are between the ages of 12 and 65 and have experienced cat allergy symptoms for at least two years you may qualify.

Qualified participants will receive all study related exams, lab services and study medication at no cost. Insurance is not required to participate and compensation for time and travel may be available.
