FROM THE MAYOR n behalf of the Montgomery City Council, I wish to thank you for your support of the city of Montgomery and its diverse local shops, businesses, and restaurants. Montgomery is fortunate to have many engaged residents and business professionals committed to ensuring a vibrant and welcoming community in which to work, live, or raise one’s family. Montgomery is a premier community of 10,200 residents located northeast of Cincinnati. The city embraces its future while valuing the traditions and history of its past. The colorful landscape, tree-lined streets, and miles of brick paver sidewalks in Montgomery lend themselves to the charming “Americana” feel of this well-preserved, historic community. The treasured Montgomery Heritage District, located in and around Montgomery Road, is a diversified and unique destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment with independent shops, nationally recognized and fine ethnic restaurants, galleries, and services. Several economic development projects are expected to bring exciting new options for residential, office, and commercial space to the City of Montgomery over the next few years, including the Gateway Redevelopment Area, the Vintage Club of Montgomery, Bethesda North Comprehensive Cancer Care Center, Twin Lakes Senior Living Community, and Orchard Trail Subdivision. These exciting developments are projected to add to the city’s already strong business community and offer exciting new residential options. The City has a thriving business environment with over 500 businesses that attract customers on both a local and regional basis. These new projects will continue to allow Montgomery to attract and retain businesses that contribute to our long-term stability, while maintaining our small-town, historic feel. Focus and determination is what sets Montgomery apart from many other jurisdictions. Montgomery is a premier community, and this is largely due to the enthusiasm and commitment of the City Council, City staff, residents, local businesses, and partners. FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR elcome to Montgomery! We hope you enjoy reading about what makes our community so special for our residents and businesses. Montgomery began as a coaching stop on the Cincinnati-Zanesville road in the late 1790s. The businesses then included an inn, two taverns, a grist mill, and a carding mill. Flash forward to 2018. We now have more than 500 businesses that call Montgomery home. We have restaurants, financial centers, retail establishments, salons, hospitals and medical facilities, gyms, grocery stores, charitable organizations, schools, etc. We have truly grown! Twin Lakes completed construction of its new Davies Center and retail area while the building continues for new villas for residents. The retail area is anchored by Stone Creek Dining Company. Their old space is now occupied by NAPA Kitchen + Bar. Work continues on the Gateway Redevelopment Area with the addition of a roundabout joining the Ronald Reagan Highway and Montgomery Road. The new ingress/egress will improve traffic flow on our southern border. Traditions broke ground on The Wicks, a new development of boutique single-floor residences at The Vintage Club. Camden Homes completed the first of 29 new residences planned for Orchard Trail. It’s our residents, though, that truly make Montgomery a great place to live, work, and play. Your involvement in our schools, churches, government, and local economy shows your commitment to our community and the culture we are creating together. We can’t thank you enough! FROM THE CITY MANAGER was fortunate to join the staff of the City of Montgomery in 2006 as the assistant public works director, and later to become the public works director in 2012. When Montgomery City Council appointed me in January 2018 as Montgomery’s next city manager, I was excited to be given the opportunity to lead this already outstanding organization. The City of Montgomery is known for its colorful landscape, tree-lined streets, miles of brick paver sidewalks, and a well-preserved historic downtown. The City is also known for exceptional ﬁrst responders. We take great pride in not only providing a beautiful community to raise one’s family, but in offering services and infrastructure for citizens, businesses, and visitors to thrive. Those of us privileged to serve this community work hard and smart to deliver services that are based on ﬁnancially sound principles and are of high value to our partners, local businesses, and residents. New Developments Adding Retail, Housing Diversity to Montgomery By Val Prevish

ontgomery has long been one of Cincinnati’s premier communities for achieving a perfect balance of work and family life—with convenience to transportation, top restaurants, shopping, services, and schools. The City of Montgomery and the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to make the city a top choice for living and working for many years to come by attracting new development that will enhance lifestyle options in Montgomery and keep the community current with today’s dining and retail trends. Several new projects will break ground in the next 12 months, adding dozens of housing and retail options, in addition to expanding health care and entertainment, says Tracy Roblero, Community Development Director for the City of Montgomery.

offi ce space, a boutique hotel, a restaurant row, and upscale residential units centered on a park-like community green. In addition, the plans call for a redesigned intersection near the junction of Montgomery Road and Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway that will feature a roundabout for better traffic fl ow, Roblero says. Bidding on the roadway construction is set to start in summer 2019.

The Vintage Club At the northern edge of Montgomery, near Montgomery Road and I-275, work is beginning on another upscale, mixed-use project—The Vintage Club—which will include residential, retail, restaurants, health care, and ofﬁce space in a village-style design concept. In addition, new retail space along Montgomery Road has opened, home to the Stone Creek Dining Company. A new breakfast/lunch restaurant is planned for this fall. Just off the main campus, Twin Lakes is also adding 22 new villa-style homes along Montgomery Road.

TriHealth Expansion The community’s largest employer and a valued health care partner, Bethesda North Hospital and TriHealth are expanding their footprint in the city to include a new 135,000-square-foot medical ofﬁce building and parking garage

on the Bethesda Nor th campus. The new Thomas Comprehensive Care Center will offer outpatient services from the TriHealth Cancer Institute, Heart Institute, Imaging Department, and the Mary Jo Cropper Family Center for Breast Care. The existing ofﬁce building at the site will be demolished to make room for the new parking garage. Twin Lakes Senior Living Project Forty-ﬁve new independent living apartments

Orchard Trail Subdivision Construction At the site of the former Montgomery Swim and Tennis Club off Orchard Club Drive, a new residential subdivision is being developed by Camden Homes that will feature upscale empty-nester housing with amenities such as a pocket park and a walking trail. The location and design of the community is planned to take advantage of Montgomery’s walkable village and feature close proximity to parks, restaurants, and retail outlets.

City/Chamber Partnership Promotes Business Growth

ynamic businesses are an important part of a thriving community. Montgomery is fortunate to have numerous vibrant businesses, due in no small part to the strong partnership between the City of Montgomery and the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce. Montgomery is one of southwest Ohio’s most desirable places to live, and that is no accident of fate. It takes planning and initiative to ensure the city maintains its status and continues to attract the businesses and residents that make it a top destination for families and adults. That’s why business leaders in the community came together nine years ago to create the Montgomery Chamber, and why

today the partnership the Chamber forms with the city is such a vital piece of Montgomery’s continued growth. “The Chamber has really helped the city grow its exposure,” says Tracy Roblero, Community Development Director for the city. “It has absolutely helped us attract and retain the best businesses.” From lending a hand with neighborhood endeavors such as the Corn on the Cob booth at the Fourth of July festival to joining forces to help attract diverse business owners and residents on the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, the Chamber has been a key partner when the city has looked for ways to expand its reach within the community and beyond, says Carol

Gorley, Executive Director of the Chamber. Education and outreach is another important element of the joint efforts of the two groups, says Brian Riblet, City Manager. “The city partners with the Chamber on a range of Lunch and Learn topics meant to beneﬁt their membership, such as updates on new commercial construction, crime prevention, and city operations,” Riblet says. “ These local business professionals and business owners are then better informed on the superior services the city provides, or its current functions. When our local business partners are well-informed and proud of their community, this only helps to strengthen our economic development efforts when they
