In Lean Product Development, there are many research ways for designer to improve products that already input market such as job to be done, A3 experiment report. Thorough those experiment, hidden defects can be found.

Contextual inquiry & products trials

We collect twenty users including housewives,students, some are familiar with irons, andsome never used irons. From observingcustomer usage and interviews, we discoverthe subtle needs of users and the defects ofexisting products.

A3 Report

Customer value analysis, competitive product comparison, strategy formulation... According to the context of the A3 report, we list the possible breakthrough problems and conduct experiments one by one. Experiments include the knowledge of using iron, the influence of steam and temperature, the weight, wires disturbing affection, and ironing the clothing boundary.

Experimental Proccess & Results

According to iron weight, plate temperature, steam and ironing time, We have done many experiments. The most notable is that high-temperature steam has a significant effect on flating clothes, and can greatly improve the efficiency when ironing.

Design Strategy

Through all the reaserch and experiements, we found that many iron has one or more problem that may make user confuse, thus we put efforts on promoting using intuitively, hoping that every iron beginner can start up easily.
