Since 20 years, Cineversum has been synonymous of high-quality video products. Adapting the most advanced and sophisticated technologies of the professional cinema industry to exclusive home users. Cineversum, brand name of the Home Cinema activity of Barco, was until recently part of the Media & Entertainment division. As Digital Cinema is about to develop in the next couple of years, Barco’s board decided to fully focus on this professional visualisation market and consequently entrusted industry-veteran Jean-Claude Younes to bring Cineversum to a higher level. More than a brand, Cineversum is a concept. Put simply, Cineversum is Home Cinema par Excellence.

Projector Jewellers
We at Cineversum give an extreme attention to details. Every single unit is carefully checked and pre-calibrated individually. Each projector is tuned for top performance and operationnally life tested in the Cineversum laboratory. Its unique characteristics are kept in a Manufacturing Identification File. The finest measurement equipement used for our projectors is used during both the manufacturing and calibration/alignment process in the laboratory, in order to achieve the best possible projected picture out-of-the box and a long-term trouble-free operation. But eventually, there is no robot than we trust more than the human being, and his delicate sensitiveness. As said Frederic Laurenti - chief calibrator for more than 20 years : «in the end of the production process, I always submit the projector to the most accurate testing, the ultimate judge, something that no instrument or computer could challenge, my human eye...»

BlackWing Hi-Definition Projectors

To fully use the projector resolution, the active frame is stretched vertically. Doing so, makes every pixel active and the brightness level is greatly enhanced.
Black bars are displayed by inactive pixels when watching a movie using a 16:9 format screen. They imply a consequent loss of the available resolution.
In THEATRE Mode, the Anamorphic Lens is moved in front of the projector beam, just like in commercial theatres, in order to magnify the aspect ratio of the picture back to the original 2.35:1 movie format. The obtained picture is extremely detailed and being projected into a wider format, it allows the use of bigger screens.

Cine CRT Projectors
When it comes to a Home Cinema projector, and parameters such as Black Level, Dynamic Range, compatibilty with a wide range of standards without artifacts, the technology of choice was, is and remains CRT. Although its form factor might scare off some of the lesser passionate video enthusiasts, the true Cinephile knows there is only one choice without any compromise. CRT projectors in general and the Cine 9 in particular are simply unbeatable in terms of color accuracy, pure black level, contrast ratio and image resolution.
