SinceIamsomewhatofanoldtimer-havingreceived myBachelorofScienceinAerospaceEngineeringin Decemberof1987–Ihaveseenalotofchangein thewaybusinessisconducted.Inthe“olddays”therewas noemail,nocellphonesandnotextingorchattingonthe Internet.WhatInternet?Amazingly,wehadtomakephone callsorvisitfolksinperson,hencethephrase“coldcall”!I havebeeninafewmeetingswerewhenIsay“Ihavea ratherlargeRolodexofcontacts”ahandshootsupbecause theyhavenoideawhataRolodexis……andIactuallydo laughoutloud!

Iexpectthatmostofus,includingthoseofuswhohave beenaroundawhile,cannotevenimaginenoemail,cell phonesorInternet.Wehaveembracedthesenew technologiestoenableourlivestobebetter,moreefficient andtoallowustoworkonthetasksthatneedourattention. Wechangedfromthentonow,andyet….thethoughtof changingfromnowtotheunknownfuturecanbe frightening.

Astechnologyandtoolsprogress,somustprocessesand expectations.TrueLeadershiprecognizesthesechangesand usesthem–andthefullteam–totheirgreatestpotential. Thenewtoolsandprocessesenabletheteamtodowhatwe humansdobest–workwithothers,innovate,plan,solve hardproblemsthathaveneverbeenthoughtaboutbefore.
