CIRES
The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences is a research institute dedicated to better understanding the Earth system. Our research is essential for understanding the processes and feedbacks in many Earth science disciplines, and to foster cross-disciplinary understanding of the cryosphere, biosphere, atmosphere, geosphere, and hydrosphere. CIRES scientists are identifying and quantifying changes in a warming climate, providing baseline data against which to measure change, and informing the public and the policy makers about these changes. CIRES is a joint institute of the University of Colorado at Boulder and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
