COMMUNICATIONS
We rely on communication technology to stay connected with each other and other blue light services when required. This includes radio systems, smartphones that double up as mobile data terminals, and GPRS that enable real-time communication and coordination. Plans are afoot to develop intelligence sharing platforms for retail outlets and licensed premises, so that timely, relevant information can be shared pertaining to prolific offenders, new deterrence methods, and crime prevention advice.
In the not-too-distant future we hope to make use of virtual reality technology to provide an immersive experience to the public and our partners across several thematic areas, including but not limited to knife crime, theft from licenced premises, hostile reconnaissance, and violence against woman and girls. We envisage a VR experience using headsets to show a role play scenario, followed by an immersive educational experience and discussion.
We feel that such a platform would raise awareness on pertinent issues, and positively influence the security posture, presence, and infrastructure across of our partners.
